You answered my questions. Thank you. I plan to eventually get the wolf tactical plate carrier. Need to wait a bit as I purchased black Friday special $399 Titan fitness plate loaded pec fly machine version 2 the other day.
Just got the wolf tactical with your code, thank you. 9/10 My only complaint (as a 6'6'' 240 lb male) is it just barely fits from front to back. I wish it was a little bigger. So if you're any bigger than that I'd look for something else personally. Just a heads up for all the other giants out there lol.
@@NoFate247 Yea, adjusted as wide as possible. Still a great vest. It fits just perfectly but if I was any bigger it would not haha. I'm on a cut though so I will grow into it.
Excellent review. Thanks. I think the North Gym is perfect for what I need. I plan to do sprints and very quick explosive, change of direction movements. Don't need a ton of weight. I'll probably get the Wolf for versatility.
Great review! I am going with North Gym , it seems to sit higher above the belly, I am a larger athlete, not beer belly but I am wide bodied. I am going to use it mostly for rucking/hiking and some..I said SOME functional workouts. Thank you for the review!
Bought North Gym's plate carrier.... The shoulder pads suck and I replaced with 2 Pcs Tactical Vest Shoulder Pads Backpack Breathable Mesh Cushion Pad Lightweight Soft Strap Pads by AZB. I did lots of research for replacement pads and settled on these. They are 8.5 inches long, .5 inches thick and 3 inches wide... made it 100% better!
I never had a problem with their shoulder pads but maybe I wasn't going as heavy as you or wearing it as long. Thanks for letting me know about the fix you found. I will mention it in the update video I do next
I'm heavy set (5'6" 235 lbs), so the straps are extended out to avoid the vest from choking me. the length of the OEM Pads were too short (6") and would slip and slide from one end to the other of the straps, allowing the buckle to rest on my shoulder without any padding causing discomfort. The replacement pads were 2" longer and .25" thicker and now straddle my shoulder providing better comfort and doesn't slip back and forth between front and rear plate. Also thanks for this video it helped me decide on which vest to purchase, I got North Gym's Fury Vest (2nd generation), specifically for the side opening compartment accepting the plates. I wore a Kevlar vest with ballistic plates for 18 mos in Iraq with a side opening compartment, so was looking for this feature. Many of the listing didn't provide this info. @@NoFate247
I've used one made auth the technique I saw from you, cardboard, metal plates, and the cheap vest. It's pretty great for simple use and works fine but I discovered when I really started using it more it got uncomfortable and hard to breathe. I'm now looking to get a nicer one, or at least real plates, because I want to be able to use it easier. It did work great for the simple use though, it just got uncomfortable when I used it more and every now and then the cardboard needs replacing as it scrunches up and the weight inside bounces around
@@anthonyschutz7201 Wolf fit's snug and now comes with curved plates for an even better fit. More affordable than Rogue and fits similar to Northern Gym Vests IMO
Cool. I'm recovering from a tibia plateau fracture so I can't run intense yet. But I can walk far about 4 miles no pain. So I will add weight vest to my walks to get more training in. 23 lb. Vest now (Ive had this budget one for over 10 years. Golds gym walmart special ugly as ever though) Then 40 lb. Vest when it comes in the mail. I'm on a budget so getting budget model. But I appreciate you displaying these plate carrier model types.
great video. I plan to use the vest 4-6 times a week mostly for hour long walks and also 5-10 miles hikes. I used a backpack with 25 lbs in it and the straps were causing extreme pain and soreness in my shoulders. so my main concern is comfort of the shoulder straps and fit on the long 4-5 hour hikes. which vest do you think is best for this type of use? thanks in advance
How long can I expect a good vest to last. It seems like most plates are rough around the edges and will wear down the vest pretty quickly if you use it several times a week. Have you ever used foam or tape to soften the edges?
I just ordered the amstaff fitness vest with 30lbs that looks identical to the wolfpack vest but it was cheaper than the wolfpack setup, unlike what this video states (although it's a year old)
I'm worried about plates falling out of the wolf and leaning towards North because of their side insert. Think this is warranted or am I overreacting? Plan on running with it and eventually getting to 40lbs.
Yeah better off with wolf. Check their website and Amazon - usually their site is cheaper with my code but you never know. All the links are in the description
@@NoFate247 with your code its currently $30 cheaper to buy vs Amazon if getting a pair of the 20 lb plates with the vest. I was leaning towards the Wolf vest with the curved plates but can only find the curved plates on Amazon in 8.75 or 5.75 pounds.
north gym doesn't have a warranty written down anywhere and zero extra plates to sell and how it sounds it carries a maximum of 17.5 which can't hold heavier weight
@@NoFate247 makes them look real shady they will reply to a comment about how they stand by their warranty but won’t write it down nah I’m good. Also, their customer service rating on Amazon is beyond awful.

i travel a lot. can you recommend a vest that i can use the weights at the gym? i can't see traveling with weighted plates.
You could bring and empty vest and stuff two tens from the gym when you go there. But that's about it.
I'm looking for a good weighted vest for Jump roping, pull ups, and push ups....what you recommend???
