- Apple AirTags are tiny disk-shaped Bluetooth trackers that can attach to an item (with a case) like your keys. AirTags use Apple's Find My network to keep their location updated anytime they come into range of another device on Find My. The beacon-style devices work similarly to Tile trackers and Samsung Galaxy SmartTags. But AirTags also have ultrawideband that can connect to your iPhone 11 or 12 for step-by-step directions that guide you to your misplaced item. I walk you through how to set up an AirTag, how to use it and how to find it when it’s lost.

We bought a new boat that is on a trailer can we use AirTags inside the boat to act as a low jack in case the boat was stolen? Can somebody else detect an AirTag in the boat if they stole it?

Good video. I've purchased six of them and have attached them to my keys, pocketbook, AirPods cases and backpack. They're not as loud as Tiles, but smaller size makes it a bit more compact when dangling from iPods case. The directional assist on 12 Pro Max is a little better than walking around my house trying to figure exactly where the Tile tone is coming from. All in all, I'm please with AirTags

The only negative I've noticed so far is there's no volume control on the beeper, and if you have the AirTag in a zipper compartment in your handbag the beeper is not very loud. Maybe their next version of AirTags will have a volume controls. Thanks for the video!

I bought my Mom a Apple Air Tag for Mother’s Day and before watching your video we watched someone else’s tutorial 😢(not so good). Midway through we ended it and found yours and I just have to tell you yours was by far much more easy to follow. Your video was perfect 🎉 you were funny and informative at the same time. I hate spoken voice gadgetry. Just get up and turn the lights on or off. Different generation. Mind you some houses are big in the USA. So I guess if it takes five minutes to walk to the switch it makes sense. You made this Englishman smile anyway so that can't be bad can it?

I’ve done that and it’s amazing when you’re at the airport luggage carousel waiting and wondering where it is. You can actually see it coming from the plane to the building. I’d imagine if it wound up in another city you’d be able to tell the lost luggage clerk where it is.
BLE5.1 and up supports AOA, but does any new phone come with 2.45Ghz antenna arrays? so it can calculate angle of attack to get direction with distance.
a UWB ic cost $4 each, a ble beacon ic cost 45cents each.

One thing that confused me was when I approached the airtag on my bike was when the screen message said it needed more light? What does that do?

I see this video was made a while ago. Hopefully you’ll see this. So rookie question. I was told these are good for luggage, lost keys etc. Does “within Bluetooth range” mean if those items are say a mile away because you left them at the airport that they will not show you where they are?

They will appear in the map anywhere you’re at, the Apple Air tag gets signal from order IPhone users allowing it to update, just so it can show you where it’s at, and also if you’re worried if anyone else can see your items, that’s a no, only people who are signed with the Apple ID can view its location

If its relying on Bluetooth range .. then whats the use of this if your items gets stolen? How will you find its too far ?
It will ping through any iphone, not just yours... There's a lot of there out there.
You can use a gps idk if it works for advanced iPhones I have a 7 and I can us a gps
It’s based on gps. Works just like the “find my…” iPhone. MacBook etc. He was simply wrong.
While yeah that can be annoying, it’s still incredibly useful for me personally since I lose stuff at home a lot
It would seem there is little point in using AirPods to track a stolen item, that is if the thief has an iPhone. Thanks to people abusing them, an alert is now sent to peoples phones, when an AirPod is moving with them, but not paired to the phone. The person can simply disable it to their location. I supposed it would still ping other iPhones in range, but not the thief’s.

Quick question, during setup one of the options says about enabling additional AirTag features ….. What is the difference between selecting ‘use this iPhone’ & ‘not now’?
it means you have multiple active iPhones on your account and it’s asking you if you want every function on that phone

I was planning to get one for my toddler prior to our Japan trip. I thought I could use this to track him if ever he gets lost or something but I guess this wont do.

Me honestly I think the signal should be reversed so the closer you gets the stronger your phone signal gets like a metal detector

bluetooth range only? Omg that’s why it just failed on me! I unfortunately got this to put on my dog’s collar as he is a rescue and new to us. It would be great if we lived in a city with a bunch of IPhone users. Unfortunately I live in the foothills of the alps and didn’t realize they weren’t gps trackers. Bluetooth doesn’t help if there are only trees around when he heads for the hills cause he has scented some deer or goats or whatever. Expensive lesson learned!

No matter how close I am to the airtag, I never get the green "Find Nearby" option. I only ever see the blue "Directions" option. Can anyone help? I have an iPhone XS iOS 15
I hooked 2 of them to my iphone. But the app can not find it when its out and travels. Only when it is with me.

I read a NYT article that said a passenger's luggage went missing & the Apple air tag lead to a airport luggage workers home . He was stealing. The most frustrating thing about airtags is that I can’t find any video or article saying whether I can use my airtags to find my iPhone. I guess not cause no one is mentioning it but if not that’s a pretty big downside compared to their competitors.
I agree, Airtags not having that feature is a let down. I want to get this for my mother's birthday, but I wish the Airtag itself could be pressed in (or something) to ping the phone. Might just get her a Tile Pro simply because of this.
The only way is if you put the air tag on your moms phone and if it’s lost locate it with your phone. She can’t locate her own lost phone without her actual phone.

My AirTag doesn’t show my home address like other devices in find my, if I tap on it. It only displays “home” and “with you” but no address. Is that normal?
I've noticed on the Neighborhood app, it looks like I'm noticing more cars getting stolen. I'm getting two of these for my two cars and using them as a POOR man's GPS. They may not be as GOOD as a GPS tracking system, but I'm not paying for a subscription fee on top of the item. I think it'll work great for my area.
I have seen stolen cars recovered this way here in the UK. Also have a think about them for expensive items such as high value gardening tools (leaf blowers etc) which can be targets of thieves raiding peoples works vans or their locks up business containers. It will work very well if the car thief has an iPhone as hopefully it will keep the Tag pinging its position. But it won't be as great if they take a car and park it up somewhere quiet where there is no footfall. But as you say, its a good cheap extra layer of security.
Can the airtag track your phone if your phone is lost or stolen?
iCloud/find my iPhone does that.
I've bought a couple of iTags for my elderly Mom who is constantly losing her Roku remote and her purse at her Assisted Living facility. Though her nursing staff can use her iPhone to find these items for her, is there a way for ME to use MY iPhone to locate items for her as well? (She's not quite 'with it' enough to manage it on her own, if she doesn't happen to be at the facility; it would be nice to be able to use a 'Find Friends' type of capability to find HER iTags instead of just my own ...) [Ed: Oh, but I DO know her Apple ID sign-in information, so I presume I could use that from where I live in another state, even absent her iPhone, come to think of it ... ]

My husband is in his 70’s and memory issues getting worse. He’s lost 2 sets of keys in 10 days. One set he put on top my car and drove away. The other set he lost in our field. It was a miracle our grandson found my keys on the side of the road about 2 miles away. We live on a farm so thinking this would be good if he loses keys somewhere on property but just not near house. I’m older and don’t understand all this new technology. Thank you

You’re at the mercy of the signal and when it’s around another device which pings the new location or update.

No. The tag doesn’t alarm unless you click sound.
