First and honestly Ayrton Senna is not just a F1 three time champion but a once in a lifetime Legendary F1 Driver who turned racetracks into a canvas and created masterpieces whenever he was on the tracks. And not only was he an amazing Driver, he was in all the meaning and definition a True Human who never forgot where he came from and was always humble. He was truly Brazil’s Chosen Son who represented the ethos of… “Only through hard work and effort will enable you to achieve anything that you put your mind to and never give up no matter what others say about you or your work.” I can guarantee that as soon as this set is released, you’ll have builders recreate the most iconic moment of his life… Ayrton Senna pulling off the track to then run across the track to save Erik Comas after Comas had crashed during the 1992 Belgian Grand Prix. That was the moment when Ayrton Senna da Silva solidified his name in stone within the history of motorsport racing. And he became not only the hero of Brazil but of the World. Formula 1 will never see another driver like Senna ever again.
The skinny rear wheels & tyres really hurt the overall look of the model, they were able to give the 1:5 Technic bikes wider rear tyres so why not this? Hopefully we can get some third party custom wheels for it to fix that issue.
The irony of this set not being affordable in Brazil. Wanted to get it but it's half my paycheck down here (being imported) and it was already sold out 😢
I originally was 50/50 on getting this as I love open wheel race cars like F1 and Indy cars, but I don't have nostalgia for this era of F1 when the races weren't easy to find on TV and I knew Senna or Prost was going to win every race (not to take anything away from the greatness of those drivers and the engineers of this car). But after seeing a couple of reviews of this set, I think I might get it just because it is an awesome looking race car.
Thsnk you for the review Alex. I do really like this set and will be buying it, as I am s huge F1 fan of this era. However I am very surprised that you didn't mention the awful white on red printed parts, both look awful and ruin the look. It probably wouldn't look so bad if the white print went all the way to the edge of the bricks but yet again LEGO made a half arsed effort. Other brick companies have no problems printing to the edge of bricks so LEGO have no excuse. For sure I will have to modify these parts of the set to make it look better, which is something I seem to end up doing with many unfinished looking LEGO sets.
I did notice this when I opened the bags. I guess it didn't bug me enough to mention it. I can totally see this as an issue for many potential buyers. Thanks for mentioning it. It is something I think I should mention if I run into this again.
Awesome set I wonder what Lego will do with the Honda license I like that there's a stand and a minifigure, more Icons car sets should be like this Should be a bit cheaper The engine sounds 😅
They'll dig into F1 even more. Red Bull has a Honda engine and I think if they can get that energy drink IP they will be all over it. I couldn't help myself, I just had to play with it.
@@alexnunes somehow I don't see the Red Bull IP happening 😂 Personally I hope Lego makes Honda speed champions cars, especially ones that are common like a Honda Odyssey Lego also has the Google license now
I don't think engine supplier decals on an F1 car mean anything regarding future sets. They had the "BMW Power" Williams Technic set in 2002 but the first actual BMW vehicle set was 15 years later with the R1200GSA. And Lego already made the Honda Asimo promotional set back in 2001, we're still waiting on a Honda car/bike set🤣
Yes, the back tires was a huge mistake. Also they missed the blue strips in the helmet. Still buy it because if you are a Senna fan like me, this is a really cool thing. Maybe I’ll try to ask someone to 3D print wider tires.
It's looking good, wheels on the back still aren't correct, maybe it will in the next ten years. Step by step right. I'm going to buy it, on discount, to join Senna with Michael and Rubens. Ow, would love to see your car / Technic / Creator collection sometime. Maybe in a "Ask Alex"' episode.
@@alexnunes Lego can and should have done it better, as the biggest tire manufacturer in the world. There are other vehicles with two different wheels in a set, and a F1 car simply has that configuration. Make it happen 😎
That white piece behind the Honda logo at the front doesn't look good at all. Is that a sticker or a print? It looks pink and is very off-putting. It's too bad because Senna was my favourite driver and all my cars have been Hondas so far.
cigarette advertising was banned in some countries this car raced in, notably the UK and Germany, so it's not inaccurate, but i'm sure aftermarket decals of Marlboro can be found online

I watched Senna in the 80’s and looking forward to add this set to my collection. Into LEGO and Formula 1 so this is a home run for me!

I love this. Easy day 1 for me. The stats from Prost and Senna's domination in '88 are truly staggering
Prob not on my want list but I think the size is a perfect scale for these display models
i would say possibly the greatest F1 car of all time - definitely will be picking this up!

i love the set and cant wait for mine to be shipped on the 1st of march and i agree what you said where the rear tires should be bigger
I found mine in the wild today, what a early surprise. I love it
Great review. Although I’m not a car guy, this Build looks like it is super fun and that figure is pretty awesome

I'm not into the car sets but they did do a pretty good job. The car looks great.
Good idea of getting two to complete the Team 👍
Aouch for the rear tires not being accurate, probably the biggest fail of this model. The rest is awesome though

Missing the original sponsor 😂

They did a fantastic job? Are you sponsored by Lego? What about the tires, helmet or pink front end?
Lego set is not a scale plastic model. So I think Lego pulled it off okay.
@@Awetothee sorry but this is not an excuse for the 3 points that i mentionned.

The same size tire at the back and front looks so off. The rear tires should be a lot bigger, it rlly ruins what was an almost perfect set

The wheels do bug me a bit. Maybe they will offer wider slicks in the future. A car collection tour may be in order.

Absolute lego shill barely pointing out the tires are too skinny in the back

It's printed I believe
Yep, it's a print. Well, sort of a print.
Unfortunately the car was known for its main sponsor so it’s a real shame it doesn’t have this included but we all know why. Still a big miss for me.
Look for those third party stickers. I am sure they are coming.
Pretty sure it's illegal to sell "toys" with tobacco logos in a lot of countries, diecast model cars don't have the logos either
