Hey Jake, I've got really bad flat foot. I have truedbthr met con 9 seems like a good fit. The midsole support is a big draw for stability and preventing pronation. What is your opinion between this shoe and the adidas dropset trainer 2?
Looking for a shoe that is good for hiit, circuit training and some weights. I have wide feet too. Which do you reckon is better? Tribase reign 5 or project rock 6?
What shoe would you advice to get for pronation wide flat feet? I also do crossfit. My asics it's hard to get a grip on the floor when I'm doing body builders.
Metcon 9 could be good option since they have a bit of arch to help give you some support on that front. The Born Prim Savage 1 is also solid but will have less arch throughout!
Hey Jake, which has the widest and most anatomical toe box. I'm looking at BP Savage 1, TYR-2 wide, strike mvmnt haze trainer, and maybe the UA tribase reign 6 if the toe box competes with these. Do any of them compete with the topo ST-5 toe box?
I've tried adidias dropset 2 and nike metcon 9, i have wide foot. In my opinion, this nike is roomier than aidas. I couldn't try UA Reign 6. Can you tell me the difference between nike metcon 9 and UA Reign 6? Which is roomier? What about other spec.?
Reign 6 has a similar insole width to the Metcon 9. Metcon 9 has a more spacious upper. However, I like that you can take out the drop-in midsole in the Reign 6 and have a pseudo-barefoot shoe, too!
Hey Jake, thanks for this amazing summary of Options for people like me "wide feet". I'm a "Walking" passionate (Hoka User) with overweight and very interested in Fitness now, actually in my functional training i'm still using Hokas but feel not that much secure when come to Lifting. Which Model would you recommend for functional training beginners? Have a great time!!!
TriBase reign 6 or the inov8 f lite max could be worth exploring! Think those would resonate well with you. Give a shout if those are no-gos! Thank you for checking out the videos
What do you recommend for someone with a 11.5 EEE foot? I currently wear Nano X in 12.5 with the insole removed to have a wide enough shoe. I also have the TYR lifters in 12 (with the insole removed they are a pretty good fit for width and length). I would prefer something wide, light, and with a 4 mm drop. I have a pair of Nano X1 in 12.5. They are barely wide enough if the insole is removed. I don't like the drop or the toe spring. They are fine for a walking around show though.
You might want to try the Reign 6 and remove the drop in midsole and use a thinner insole! Could be a move to try. May also want to try the Core Gym from VIKTOS!
Hey Jake! Thank you for your videos they are so helpful. I’m looking for a shoe that is a lower stack height, low to zero drop, but more cushioned. I don’t like a hard heel. It needs to be good for things like lateral workouts, plyometrics, some speed and agility, double under and body weight conditioning. What would you suggest?
Hey sup Jake! Which pair would you recommend for a sport with a lot back n forth? I play dek hockey and I usually use tennis shoes, but curious to try a low to the ground wide to box shoe that offers some support. The Reign 6 caught my attention but curious to get your feedback.
Hello, i would like to ask about the adidas adipower 3 shoe. I’m thinking of buying my first ever weightlifting shoe for back squats mostly. My questions are two to be exact. I’m wearing nice court visions for my back squats. My number is 11M or 45 in european size. My question is should i buy the adipower an additional number up (11.5M or 46) or should i go for 11M or 45 1/3? Please reply because it’s really confusing🥲
I am looking for a new gym shoe, but i can't decide. So what shoe would you recomend. I do mostly strenght workouts (in the gym) and afterwards i do 20-30 minutos cardio(almost no running) I tend to get blisters quickly between toes(with free metcon 5 and i am having pain in the heel area ), i have used metcon dsx reppers, nano 9, tribase reign and free metcon 5 and 1. I need a shoe which helps stability around the ankles(they tend to go onwards a lot when squatting) I really liked the free metcon 1 except i get pain(underneath my heel when walking a lot). What shoe do you recommend?
Honestly, maybe a model like the UA Project Rock BSR 4. It's thicker midsole may help with some of that. You could also explore the Nano Gym, and that model may help, too! I'm thinking a slightly thicker midsole with its heel may feel more comfortable for your cardio ask
Thanks Jake. What do you suggest for a new squatter who has a flat and wide foot? Been squatting for 6 months now and looking for my first weight lifting shoe. Thanks man
@@kushdavda8408 Best option for width would be the TYR L-1 Lifter, size up a half-size if you know you have a EE+ width foot. UA TriBase Reign Lifter and NOBULL Canvas Lifter can also be decent picks!
Hey Jake. I am. Based in London and finding it difficult to order the lifters in size 10.5. A Spanish company from Amazon cancelled my order after waiting 3 weeks, can you help with anyone that delivers to London ASAP since I want them
@thatfitfriend Hi! I assume these are all men's shoes. How do they compare to the female equivalents (for example the male vs female UA Reign 6)? If I have wide feet, should I then go for the male shoe?
That can be a safe bet. Sometimes companies will unisex size them, but when in doubt, I often say go men's and you'll typically get a wider shoe if they don't unisex size em!
Jake, does Tennis shoes works for crosstrainning/crossfit (except rope climb, of course)? Like those Asics. They should have a great stability and a bit of damping. Every crossfit shoe I tried was unconfortable, usually hard as a rock. Nano x2 was almost good, but my heel kept comming out and I dont feel safe with it. Tyr cxt 1 have a hard and thin sole (1 week using). Metcon 8 gave me plantar fasciitis. Not sure if i should try the Nano x3 or another kind of shoe for days with more aerobics and/or light wheigts. What do you think about that?
Hi Jake, I have a wide foot and my foot is very small 24cm!! what shoe would you be able to recommend for HIIT workouts and weightlifting in general? Thanks!
@@thatfitfriend hi Jake, I used to wear Nike free metcon but that was way back when!! now that I'm starting my fitness journey again, maybe you can recommend something?
Altra Solstice XT 2 would be solid, imo! Mentioned those in my 2023 wide feet video, "That fit friend best trainer wide feet" should get you there if you don't feel like crawling the channel!
What barefoot shoe brand or model would you recommend for someone wearing 10EE to 10.5EE. I now workout in my motus strength but size 10 feels tight still after 8 months and size 11 is super long.
@@thatfitfriend OK what would you recommend 4E with some drop. I don't go over 405 on the squat or deadlift anymore but we'll rip out that weight eight to 10 times in my sets. Runs will stay under 2 miles at max. Thanks for the help
Looking to buy a new pair and so confused between Savage 1 and Nano 2.0. They both seem so similar! Jake or anybody else here have any thoughts on what might be a point to consider that might differentiate one from the other? Thanks in advance!
@@thatfitfriend thanks for the recommendation! Savage 1 it is then! Btw love all your content and the information you share. Thanks for all that you do 🙌🏻
Thanks for this review. The Viktos, with their roomy upper seem like the best fit for me - of course out of stock everywhere. Does anyone have any recommendation for something similar?
Hi, I’m search for shoes for gym sessions. I’m lifing heavy and doing also squats, so shoes shouldn’t be with any drop, best should be totally flat I guess. Which one would be the best bro?
The idea that you need a flat shoe for that type of lifting lacks some context, brotha! Not necessarily the case and I can send you a vid on IG explaining if you want to learn more about that. What do you currently wear?
@@thatfitfriend currently i’m wearing simple Converse all Star, it’s pretty good, but they are a bit tight and totally uncomfortable on my little cardio after training.
Hoping for some advice, I've got wide feet and also flat-footed and mainly just weight lift. What would people in these similar circumstances recommend? Or should i just go barefoot ha
@thatfitfriend I'm guessing a flatter shoe. I've currently been wearing my running trainers soon to realise that my balance and knees were going inward on my squats. Taking my trainers off gave me more relief and stability. Yes, I have been uneducated in this field, and I'd say I'm a novice also haha.
My UA reign 4's are still going strong for more than a year for boxing. I'm looking to buy the reign 6, but the specs say that it's even heavier than the 4's. What is your take on it and can you confirm that?
No inov8? I have wide feet and love the f-lite 260. Plenty room, flexible and a good all round shoe. Not bad for running outdoors but wouldn’t recommend for more than 5km
Oof, I don't find the 260s that wide, they just have a looser upper which gives them a wider feel for some. The G 300s would give you more width objectively in the toe box
@@thatfitfriend I have the knit upper 260 so that’s probably why they feel roomy.that’s good to know as I’m currently looking for a new pair! The born primitive look good but don’t think they’re available in the uk yet!
@@thatfitfriend thanks. I wasn’t sure if the f-fly would be stable enough for heavy barbell etc. or should I just bite the bullet and order the born primitive!
Maybe I have missed it in the video, but is there a reason that the Strike MVMNT Haze Trainer is not included? I am a bit surprised it is not in there, because it seems that one of its most celebrated characteristics is the wide toe-box.
It’s in my 2023 video (linked). I tried to include new picks that have even wider toe boxes. The Haze’s fit can be more polarizing that most of the models included in here, too, which is another reason why they weren’t in this round up!
@@thatfitfriend i'am recentlly searching in that world training shoes and bought last weekend a under armour hovr rise 4 for me, based in your reviews and in the reviews of anothers channels. Now i'am looking for a pair for her. We've never used a specific training shoe in the gym.
Of this bunch, they've be my top suggestion - yeah. Def buy from Amazon, though, so you can easily return them if you need! That's a super specific fit ask. BTW, what are you wearing currently? Can maybe suggest other option depending on that. Nano 2.0 and BP Savage also could work, imo
@@thatfitfriend you are such a real one thank you for the reply. i’m currently using nike dunk lows because they’re wide-ish. i’ll check out the 3 you mentioned and report back. thanks for doing this for the community!
I'd seen the Viktos but didn't consider it. How's the midfoot vs Savage 1? My midfoot is super high, and while the Savage is good, my preference would be a slightly higher midfoot section. Great list!! Hoping to pick up the Velocity Nitro 3 or Rebel v4 for runs.
@ I haven't tried the Core Gym. The Savage 1 is pretty amazing for grip and ground feel, not so good for short runs. I may grab the Inov8 F-Lite Max to see how it compares to the Savage 1.
I don’t know what it is but the metcon 9 and the Nanos hurt my feet. To the point where even if I go up a half a size , I still can’t wear either of them for longer than an hour.I have a really wide foot. For some reason the Free x Metcon 5 fits my foot perfectly, I just had to go up half a size
Hey Jake, thanks for for the amazing content you put out. I have been thoroughly enjoying it since I subscribed last year and purchased the Reebok Nano X3 online ! Without even trying and it was perfect. I am now curious to try something different that is still comfortable with good width.. and perhaps lighter. Since I have the Nano X3, I am curious to decide maybe between UA Tribase Reign 6 ( Just watched your video on it) or the Adidas dropset 2. Which I tried earlier today at the mall.. didn’t know about the UA model until I came back home and watched your video on it 😅…. Any thoughts ?
UA will technically be heavier but it doesn't feel that way on the feet. IMO, if you like the Dropset Trainer 2, then I'd rock those. They're sick shoes. Reign is also solid, but they'll be just about as heavy as your Nano X3s! Thank you!
Yeah, those sizes are def more anomaly and are underserved atm, imo God speed trying to find modern day trainers for 6E. BF shoe companies are even limited for that size.
I think you really need to be very clear exactly what you mean by wide feet. I have a 8.5 US 2E width foot. I tried most of these shoes. NONE of them are wide enough for my foot. If your foot is only a C or D width, I am not sure I really consider that to be wide. It would also be good to see exactly what the shoe looks like on your foot. So what did I try? Topo athletic. I tried the size 9. Looks like it might work, feels very comfortable when I first put it in, but as soon as I stood up, I can feel and see that maybe 1/2” of my foot is hanging over the side of the foot bed. I exchanged it for a 9.5. Still have the same problem. FAIL. New Balance Minimus Size 9.5 Wide (which should be 2E, but really isn’t) this is better than the Topo, but still too narrow. This shoe was a full size larger than my normal size. New Balance is really bad at this kind of thing. My NB 880’s in 8.5 2E work great. This shoe in a size larger wide is to Narrow. I have another pair of NB in 8.5 Wide that are way to wide ??? Viktos men’s core gym. Size 9. Looks great, but … when I put it in, it’s very low volume, so while the width might work, it’s squishing the top of my foot, so isn’t going to work. Sent it back … Under Armor UA Tribase Reign 6. Size 9. These were the closest, but still to narrow :( just enough pressure on the side of my foot to cause cramping and numbness if I wore them for more than 20-30 minutes :( So overall a complete failure !!
@@stevewort my foot is E/EE and these all fit well. This video is designed for that width range. You sure you’re 2E and not wider? If you have a higher instep that may be also why you feel these to be snug. IMO, I bet you’re wider than 2E 👀 I mention that in my article, but I’ll include it the next video. The issue, which youve clearly laid out, is that “wide” exists on a spectrum and how companies and ourselves define wide can vary a ton. New balance is a great example. Their minimus “2E” is an abomination for that width definition. All that to say, your foot is not everyone’s foot and it’s difficult to build videos like this for very specific foot anatomies/asks, bummed you haven’t found your best fit yet.
@@thatfitfriend I have a bannock device, so know for sure that my foot is a 8 1/2 and 2E. When I looked at the video you did last year where you measured all the insoles of the shoes, and the widest was 4”, when I set the bannock device to a 4” width, and read if the width for a size 10 (your shoe size?) it shows a width of just under a D, no where near an E, and a million miles away from a 2E.
@@stevewort nice, bro. Thanks for watching The insole measurement is useful but it alone isn’t the only factor that can influence width and a fit of the shoe. Upper and upper material also play a large role. Look into the new F-lite Max, they have a super spacious fit in the toe box
I have pretty wide feet and bought the adidas dropset trainer 2 and personally I dont love the lack of room in the toebox...I feel like it's compressing my right foot all the time. The dropsets r good shoes but aside from training itself I don't really like them. I had to walk on them in the rain to the gym and got the interior wet because of the hole in the sole...I should have known better lmao
Totally get that - they’re certainly not the widest shoe in the game for 3E> wider feet, and also, the ventilated hole is def not the best for rain walks! Bummed you haven’t loved em!
Finding a training shoe that is good for running is challenging it seems. WOD often have 800-1600 runs in them and taking time to switch shoes is a pain.
Xero are barefoot shoes, so they’re irrelevant for this video’s category. Altra makes the Solstice XT 2 which was in my 2023 video mentioned in the intro but don’t keep a ton of stock with them atm so I didn’t include them…
There is no shoe wide enough for my feet. I barefoot walk daily and my feet only get wider with time. So far the only 'shoe' that fits wide feet are crocs. 😅
Not wide, though, at least the models in the US. They're also not "training shoes" so I'd include them in a diff list or heavily disclose that. It's like calling Converse training shoes, imo.
Dropset are good as indoor lifters but terrible if you live in a rainy area or plan to wear them outside. Water comes in through the bottom vent holes while walking out to your car. Super gross feeling. I otherwise loved them, but don't want to have to bring another pair of shoes with me.
Jake, I have (wide footer) a lot of shoes from your videos. The Go Ruck Ballistic (low cut) are the best for me overall. Runner up would be Haze Trainer and Nano 2.0. I prefer them over the Drop set 2.0 because of the midfoot space (still like them though). If I needed one shoe for everything it’s the Ballistic trainer, so underrated and only $100 on Rogue on sale w 10+ colorways 🤌🏼

BP Savage 1 and Inov8 F-Lite (newer model) would be worth exploring!

I have Amazon shoes and then for squats I run the TYR-1 Lifters
TriBase Reign 6, hands down!

I just purchased a few pairs of Brooks training sneakers 👟. Is it good for training?
They're not bad! Just depends what you're doing/what you need!
Hey sup Jake! Which pair would you recommend for a sport with a lot back n forth? I play dek hockey and I usually use tennis shoes, but curious to try a low to the ground wide to box shoe that offers some support. The Reign 6 caught my attention but curious to get your feedback.
Reign 6 would be solid, imo! Born Primitive Savage 1 could also be good if you need more width, they'll feel denser, though.

I'd go for the 11 with the Adipower, too!
Thanks man

A weightlifting shoe, predominantly for squatting
@@kushdavda8408 Best option for width would be the TYR L-1 Lifter, size up a half-size if you know you have a EE+ width foot.

Yeah they work! If you have a good pair of tennis shoes they should be solid in the gym. That way you don’t have to buy more pairs, too!

Hey Jake, thanks for for the amazing content you put out. I have been thoroughly enjoying it since I subscribed last year and purchased the Reebok Nano X3 online ! Without even trying and it was perfect.

Yeah, those sizes are def more anomaly and are underserved atm, imo
God speed trying to find modern day trainers for 6E.
Sent it back …
Under Armor UA Tribase Reign 6. Size 9. These were the closest, but still to narrow :( just enough pressure on the side of my foot to cause cramping and numbness if I wore them for more than 20-30 minutes :(
So overall a complete failure !!
@@stevewort my foot is E/EE and these all fit well. This video is designed for that width range.
You sure you’re 2E and not wider? If you have a higher instep that may be also why you feel these to be snug. IMO, I bet you’re wider than 2E 👀
I mention that in my article, but I’ll include it the next video.
Thanks for watching
The insole measurement is useful but it alone isn’t the only factor that can influence width and a fit of the shoe. Upper and upper material also play a large role.

I need nano x4 or other nano with 0 drop 🙂

Adidas dropset 2 is invincible in term of price & comfortably & functional
They’re a sick shoe for sure!
No TYR?
TYR are not what I would classify as wide. Good shoes but def on the medium/narrower side
