Dr. Gaddi Blumrosen, Head of AI medical sensing and diagnostics lab, School of Computer Science and Department of Digital Medical Technologies, HIT
Continuous Neurological condition assessment at home environment plays an important role in modern medicine. Traditional medical methodologies is based on arrival of the subjects to the clinic, physical examination, diagnostic interviews, and self-report questionnaires. These clinical evaluation techniques suffers from rater bias, non-subjective reports, long travel to the medical facility, and examination that do not reflect the medical condition in natural settings. To assist in accurate diagnosis and design treatment plan (medication type, frequency and dose) for different neurological diseases, there is a need for a continuous, accessible, and objective technology. Growing efforts are aimed to adopt better wearable technology for medical monitoring in home and community settings, design new sensors, and tailor machine learning based processing techniques, that can enable wearable sensors based diagnostic and monitoring applications to assist in wellbeing. In this talk I will present the state of the art monitoring and diagnostics technologies at home using daily life accessories. I will show different ways to aggregate different sensor data information in different scenarios to medical diagnostics using AI, and present some novel use of traditional sensors to assess neurological diseases severity.
