- I upgraded my Chibson with FLEOR High Output Alnico 5 Guitar Pickups. These budget pickups sound very good for the price point and a great option if you want to improve your tone of an entry level guitar. The FLEOR pickups are available on amazon. The bridge pickup was clear with very little mud in the tone.
WOW! I have had a new set of these lying around for like 6 months. I didn't realize I could get that kind of tone out of them! Thanks! And thank you for posting a clean audio recording.
Glad you found it helpful 🙏👍
I accidentally found the fleor pickups when i was looking for a cheap set of pickups to repair an old guitar i had when i was a kid! Now reading the review online and after watching videos i am really excited for them to arrive :) i believe i will make a hell of a guitar :)
Thanks for stopping by. Cool! I think you’ll be pretty content. Hope it works out well for you. Cheers!
Damn man that is really crystal clear but with a mean bite, I really like the tone, that is one of the clearest cleanest humbucker tones I've ever heard,
Chuck Lee yes I was quite surprised too. They are pretty good.
Awesome review, specially because there wasn't 15 min of nonsense talking... really on point! thanks
Glad you liked it! Thanks so much for the feedback!
Very well done review. Quick & to-the-point. I love the clean tone You're getting in the middle position & the metal tones You're getting with the bridge pickup is very tight, crisp, & well-defined. You also play very well, Sir. I've been looking for a set of inexpensive pickups to install on a 26" scale, electric that was given to me by a friend who found it an an old house they were re-modeling. Got it cleaned-up & set for dropped A & it plays & holds tuning great, just sloppy, muddy tones from the factory pick-ups. Have a set of Chrome Screamers from Dragonfire & they're great for the price, but, just can't handle much low-end & retain clarity like my Duncan Sh-6's or my EMG HZ-4's, but I just don't want to sink the money into freeby-project.
Hey thanks so much for the lovely feedback! Unfortunately most budget pickups somehow don’t have that last 20% to get them as good as Duncan’s or EMGs but with a lot of fine tuning eq and compression you could get quite a good sound with budget pickups like these fleor. Cheers!
Ah yesss! I have ordered Fleor high output pickups for my Gio RG upgrade project!
Cool! All the best!
Wow! It sounds nice! I've used pickups from Fleor, Belcat, and Yibuy from China. They're excellent! Nice solutions here in the USA (for faster shipping) are Guitar Madness and Dragonfire pickups - which are similarly priced. I have Guitar Madness 'Hexbucker' (DiMarzio Super Distortion type) pickups on 2 of my guitars and they sound great! I will be getting more eventually!
Thanks for the feedback and all those nice suggestions! Got to try some of them out on my other guitars. Cheers!
You're welcome! Cheers!
which brand would you recommend? i've heard about Oripure too
@@cuncapt Fleor, Belcat, Kmise, Guitar Madness, Dragonfire. Never tried Oripure.
Try guitarheads puckups. The z bucker is like a seymour and hex bucker like a dimarzio
Damn man sounds so good... I'm wanna to buy... Good job bro...
Thanks so much! Yeah it's not bad for the price indeed.
Thanks for the tone review of these pickups. I just bought a pair for soldering practice on a project guitar. If mine sound like yours I may just leave them in there lol. 😁
Thanks! All the best!
Very nice review, man, thank you! I have FLEOR ceramic pickups on 2 of my basses - P and PJ - and I love them. Just bought another JB set for $12 on aliexpress -- fleor or ikn music stores, same price, and cheaper than on amazon. As an aside, I hate reading things like "good in that price range" or "best bang for your buck", etc. *To my taste*, these pickups are great, period. *To my ear*, *on my basses*, they sound better than Seymour Duncan's Quarter Pounds, so they are not great "in that price range". :)
thanks man! Yes for sure and that's a good point you made!
Sound pretty good, but please, next time you do a demo, no backing tracks, and give us the DRY signal, no heavy chorus and compression, we can't really hear what the pickups sound like with all that nonsense. Thanks.
Notes. Thanks for the feedback
Damn that thing sounds good!
thanks!
Cool video . I bought a Fleor set of 3 alnico single coils for a project Stratocaster . From Amamzon.ca . Very impressed by the whole set . Excellent sound and good quality craftsmanship at a good price . I just ordered 2 high output humbuckers in white . One with the dual bar mags and the other with hex screws . Hoping for another good experience judging by this video .
They’re pretty good! All the best!
Sounds pleasant enough but I think you have too much processing in your signal chain to really judge the tone deriving from the pickups
Thanks for the feedback. Yea I need to adjust my tones indeed
those pickups sound great I put then in my SG and it really came to life.
Thanks for the review. Well done. Every video on Fleor, bridge humbuckers sound great, & almost every review is glowing, but I installed The Alnico Humbucker set in a First Act guitar that a friend found & gave to me & unfortunately, The First Act, stock pickups sounded WAY better, & You know how crappy First Act's hardware & electronics are. Glad You got a good set, but apparently, I didn't.
That's sad. Cause the set I got sounded pretty good and I was pleasantly surprised.
This is a Chibson? I seriously don't mind having 1 man!
For the price it is quite good. cheers!
Sounds rad
Thanks man!
Dimebag would be proud, now all you need is a Screamer Chic on Vocals"
Lol that would be cool
great video, thanks. Fleor is wax potted real good ? Any noise ? Thanks
Not that I know of. Sounded great even at louder volumes
@@TM-xz5tg thank ya
Hello, great video! The audio of the guitar is amazing, can you please tell me your gears for recording?
Hi there! Thanks! My signal chain was guitar into line6 guitar port into pod farm.
sound good to me!!
thanks!
nice sound..
thanks!
Im thinking to get Fleor's set too! How's the sound when it splitted to single coil? Does it experienced any volume drops?
hi! the spilt tone isn't great. in fact i generally dont like split humbuckers. It was quite thin in the case of these Fleors
Their splitted single coils sounds terrible. Very thiny and have noises on overdrive.
I actually think they sound awesome on my explorer splitted. Single coils will always be quieter than a humbucker
it sounds very very good. i like it. is it possible to send the link of these pickups? also i want to upgrade my washburn x10. it needs H-S-S pickups. can you prefer vintage alnico pickups of fleor?
hi! thanks so much! here's a link to the pickups amzn.to/354tiF1 i havent tried their H-S-S pickups yet but they should be as good. cheers!
Perfect
Thanks!
I would have liked to hear them straight with no effects
hi! I use mostly digital fx and dont have the whole amp -> mic setup so unfortunately it wasn't possible. thanks for the feedback though. will keep in mind for the future. cheers
Gonna try a set in my firefly lp
All the best! Cheers!
I saw the first uncovered pus 0:05, based in your experience, which would you recommend, the one with the "radial" pots or the "allen" ones?
I found the allen ones better.
@@TM-xz5tg Fiiuuu, fortunately I bought those 😜😝
Cool! Hope you like them. Cheers 😀
Id love to ask, Have you experienced any microphonic feedback. Im looking to replace epiphone les paul standard pickups that are currently experiencing extremely loud screeching.
Thanks!
Hi! No i didn't experience any micro phonic feedback. They sounded great on high gain surprisingly.
Nice
thanks!
You said you didn't like the neck pickup, what was the reason for not liking the neck Fleor?
to be honest i don't like most neck pickups except the EMGS which are buttery smooth. i guess i was looking for a bit more clarity on the FLEORs but nothing to be concerned about .
@@TM-xz5tg oh kool, I have an LTD 401QM it has EMG's and I am about to list it for sale right now. Lol
Ric Mel one can never have too many guitars :) sell one buy two is my motto haha!
@@TM-xz5tg lol, that is funny. And we only can play one at a time, but each guitar has it's own feel and own vibe to it.
How did the coil splitting go? Any clips? Thanks :)
hi Greg! Oh man that was a bit of a nightmare. cause you have those clip on connectors and the wiring was kind of weird. so had to go through it entirely. having said that if you want to do it quick just replace all the wiring :) sorry didn't make clips cause it was a bit of experimentation. your biking vids are cool! reminded me of the one time i went dirt biking, was a blast! maybe i upload that clip lol
Good stuff
Appreciate it
Trolls notwithstanding...It appears the general consensus "everywhere" is to replace the electronics (PUPs, jacks, switches, pots, wiring, etc. & some hardware items if desired) for "most" guitars from China and save thousands of dollars if you just desire additional crayons in your production box that matches the feel/tonal characteristics of iconic off-the-shelf US manufactured instruments. However, if you desire something truly special, it's NOT rocket science, just a guitar any human with the implied skill level/equipment can produce when detailed specs are provided and confirmed via pics (i.e. Back: 1-Piece Mahogany w/12-hole weight relief, Top: 1-Piece 3/4" Plain Maple, Joint: Long Tenon (Ultra Modern Contoured heel) 1-piece Solid Mahogany custom elliptical/modern "flat oval" profile neck, custom paint job: Neck Binding: Electric Violet Single-ply & Body Binding: Dark Turquoise Multi-ply, Fingerboard Material: Solid Ebony, Number Of Frets: 24, 3 Humbuckers, etc.), one can theoretically own the quality of those ranging $5k-$10k+ for far less than $2k with all the push/push/pull pot wiring one can dream up (i.e. "Gibson LP Custom Shop Original" 1-off w/case). Those of you with thousands of dollars burning holes in your collective pockets can donate it to TheRockCzars & the proceeds will support All US instrument manufacturers. ;)
Do you have a comparison review's between musiclily Wilkinson alnico huMbucker pick-ups vs fleor huMbucker pick-ups?
Hi. I don’t have a video on it but I have tried some Wilkinson hum buckers before and the Fleor were better for my style of playing which is mostly metal .
@@TM-xz5tg tnx sir fleor and oripure is nice guitar pickups too..they are not expensive but they compete with high end guitar pickups too.
Thanks for that tip! Will check them out
Btw, what amp you used ?
Thanks for the review curry guy.
hahaha! Curry Guy!
Which is cleaner, The Fleor Alnico 5 or the Wilkinson Alnico 5. Please help me decide?
I haven't tried that particular set of Wilkinsons but i did slap on some zebra humbuckers a while back and i preferred the Fleor.
@@TM-xz5tg ok thanks much. I went ahead and ordered some Seymour Duncans.
Ric Mel cool! Should sound sweet!
@@TM-xz5tg ty
Ive just got a cream one alnico 5 but 2 conductor.
Think you’ll be happy with the tone
@@TM-xz5tg ive bought some ceramics too and im at odds what position I might put them in
Ive a choice ceramic 8 ohm
Ceramic 12 ohm
Alnico 15 ohm
For epi LP its chinese too
You just bought your guitar from what they had advertised? Or did you have yours made? I would like to order one custom built and the can put their name on it and make a line of guitars the same spec
What brand is the Chibson?
Not sure what you mean by brand.
@@TM-xz5tg How do you get a Chibson? I want a fake guitar
What’s the burst on that ? Ice tea ? Honey burst ?
I'd say more ice tea than honey burst. a bit too shiny though..
where is the video where u added the push pull pot
Hey man, I never got down to doing it cause I had an accident shortly after. Basically it was a trial an error to map out the cabling
@@TM-xz5tg man i was looking forward to it. did you get it working. was it one pushpull that split coiled both humubuckers or was it two. .
Sorry about that man. I only installed one push pull pot to split the coils. The wiring diagram is easy however what is tricky is all those connectors that come in the chibson. I don’t have the guitar anymore or I’d make the video and explain. The best is to just install new wiring and also new wires running to the 3 way switch.
@@TM-xz5tg can you send me link to a wiring diagram. i never wired a push pull pot before
@@mritorto1 Sure, here you go. guitarelectronics.com/2-humbuckers-3-way-toggle-switch-2-volumes-2-tones-coil-tap/
Oh no I gotta white knight for Gibson!!! 😱😱😱 Ehem!!! Okay, here I go... You bastard! How dare you not play authentic!!! I'm gonna hold my breath until my face turns blue and I pass out!!! 😡😡😡
Nice! Let it out!! 👍🤘 🥵
truss rod covers should be changed for maximum effect
lol yeah
Add flames too
Chibson????--------> Gibson !!!
not from close. you can tell them apart easily.
Dude... WTF!!!
🤷♂️ thanks? 👍
