I actually was wondering if this was ever going to get reviewed by Dice Tower. I got it in early June and have really enjoyed my plays for all the reasons they mentioned. It’s super unique and just fun to take the actions. After your first play, it really takes off with your strategy, which I’m fine with.
I played this the other day and agree with both viewpoints, but I align more with Chris. It’s a really solid/fun game.
I’ll second Tom’s comments about not having any sense of direction in your first play. I haven’t played this, but four people in my regular group played it a few weeks ago, and to a person they said they disliked the game because they found it sort of muddled and aimless. That would probably get better with more plays, but none of them are at all interested in trying it again.
Like in every other strategy game ever made.
"Like Bob Seger" - cracked me up, I almost chocked on my drink. I was demoed this at DTE, me and my wife liked it, glad to see a positive review. I also agree w Tom on at first just 'doing things' before getting a semblance of why, but it was fun
Would like to see Mike do a solo livestream of this game.
+1 for the Bob Seger reference
From the way you described it, I see some similarities to something like Race for the Galaxy. That's a very tactical game too, with a big barrier of entry, and on your first play, unless someone explains it to you, you won't really know what's a good strategy and how to build your engine.
"I'm gonna have Wendy glue it together." Can't just glue it yourself...?
Not if I want to keep my fingers from getting stuck to the table.
mnmn where is Wendy ? Usually euros go hand in hand with Yi's family.
Yi likes every game he’s ever reviewed. Now, I just ignore him.
You literally commented on the Kutna Hora review, "Yep. Bad game."
Chris didn't like Oranienburger Kanal and hated Fit to Print.
