honestly Akechi has the best performance I've ever heard in any game
I normally don't comment on videos genuinely but this was a seriously fun series of videos to watch and I'm honestly surprised that this dude doesn't have more subs/views. The way that it was presented and the commentary was great, plus the heartwarming message at the end and the seriously good production quality, like, holy shit man. GJ, and I'm looking forward to wherever this channel goes next.

Fun fact, in the 3rd semester, you can talk to someone related to almost every party member's new reality. Apart from one or two. So that is interesting.
I'd say the 3rd semester has some of the best writing of persona 5. And the palace is just amazing, especially the music. The ending if you let Maruki's reality stay is so bittersweet since you get to see everybody happy but Joker and Akechi look at you in one of the shots knowing what you did. Aside from the 3rd semester, Strikers also has amazing character writing imo
Supposedly the person who wrote the 3rd semester is going to be the writer for Persona 6 (if they make it), so I'm excited!
This would've been very different if Takuto Maruki's link had a stat gate--which I'm pretty sure would be quite unrealistic anyway, since he's supposed to be easy to talk to.

I find it so intensely interesting that Maruki's persona goes from Azathoth, one of the highest ranking Eldritch dieties in Lovecraftian Lore to one of the greatest thieves ever, Adam.
I'm not really smart enough to get the meaning behind it, but it definitely intruiged me
Pretty sure Azathoth created all of reality as his dream which you can see the connection there but what I find really interesting is how Azathoth is described to be slow-minded, ignorant and evil. Yet Maruki certainly wasn't evil per say just lost. It's like Azathoth represents Maruki's dream of making a reality without pain yet that very concept is "ignorant" and "evil" and you'd have to be truly naiive or "slow-minded" to think it would work. In one description I found it said Adam Kadmon was supposed to be a man of light, someone who represents the foundation for generations of man. Definitely makes sense with his whole guiding humanity get up Maruki has.
@@therandowanderer Adding on, Adam Kadmon literally translates to "Primordial Man", being the perfect and ideal human, entirely unaffected by the sins and taint of life on earth. From what I understand, he exists as more of a concept of "what the perfect man would be", rather than being a literal individual that existed at some point in time. If you've ever heard of or seen the Tree of Life/Sephirot, some interpretations say that they are representative of Adam Kadmon, since the Sephirot show the ways in which the "pure infinite-ness" of God flows from god's infinity down into a clearly defined "thing" in our world, a pure and untainted human would be one of the purest examples of that in action.
Though the Thieve's Den says that "The Kabbalah described Adam Damon as a primordial human with a deific form-an ideal for all to strive towards". There are likely a bunch of different specific takes on what Adam Kadmon is depending on what groups you ask, but it seems pretty universal that he is "the perfect human, free from evil and sin", which is exactly what Dr. Maruki wished humanity could be more like.
It's basically that Dr. Maruki belief in creating a perfect world free from any pain or suffering allowed his Persona to evolve into the hypothetical human that would have inhabited such a perfect and ideal world, had the earth not become the sinful and impure place it currently is.

Actually, iirc, nobody actually called her Kasumi. They all went with "Yoshizawa" and never actually used her name, which is why Joker never actually knew what her real name is. Maruki, at the time, could only change a single person's cognition, so he only changed Sumire's cognition, to make her think everyone calls her Kasumi, Joker was never under the impression of her being called Kasumi because of Maruki's power, but he made the assumption of her name because of her wallet.
Futaba calls her Kasumi before shidos palace.

I heard that's only in the English dub. So if that's true then it's either a mistranslation/plot whole exclusive to the English version.
maruki was able to do more than just one evidence being the rumi flashback, its more likely to say he either wasnt aware of his ability, couldn't control it or not to such mass scale until christmas
Even without the name on the wallet she would have present herself as Kasumi 'cause she thought she was her. The ID was just an extra. Some people should have surely noted she was calling herself like that, but didn't pressed the issue and gave her time. I don't know where she got the ID, thought.

Love this game! And this series was really fun to follow. But did you know that getting all the stamps unlocks a secret boss fight against Jose in the third semester? I'm surprised you didn't go for that.
I actually thought about going for it, as well as a fight against the Reaper, but I just wanted to get the run done and over with. And I didn't want to waste my items doing the Senpai in Life Challenge such as the Wine of Grace for the final boss fight.

I only ever made it through 7 of the palaces in the vanilla/Royal versions, I restarted and am currently forever stuck in Okumura’s palace. Thank you for this run it was so much fun to watch and looked like a great challenge!

Great work on the run, nice job with the final boss. I marathoned through Royal when it came out, and it was about the time the pandemic hit and there were shutdowns everywhere, I was able to get to the true ending final boss within a week, without skipping cutscenes, but man was that tiring. I beat the final boss and put up my video, and it was really interesting to see a lot of people struggling with the final boss according to all the comments I got. They really did a good job both with Maruki's story and the boss battle itself. Feels like an SMT final boss, both thematically and with the battle! 😅 If you're playing casually and you don't know what you're doing, you really need to use everything in your power to in order to beat him.

Very entertaining challenge and goes to show how many options you have in P5R. I kind of miss all of these perks now that i'm playing P4G, since i'm already in August (i'd like to ask not to spoil me that game, i had so much enjoyment playing P5R blind the first run and having a great time now with P4G as well) and i still haven't seen as much options to spend time as there were in P5R.
Also, that Mementos depth glitch is so funny, i guess the devs thought people won't attempt to return to mementos after entering the depths with the previous cut-scene suggests you can't turn back and people accepting that. I remember completing the entirety of mementos, stamps included, all before entering the depths, since i thought it was the last chance to do it. Since i was playing blind, and the only person that recommended P5R hadn't reached that far, i didn't know i would have to go there in the third semester, which i also completed in the first run. As a result, i entered the depths severely over-leveled, so the first enemy that was actually my level were the archangels. It was also pretty much the only time i used the Ryuji insta-kill in a palace.
I love the depths of Mementos because they dominate with that Megami Tensei weirdness that made me fall in love with the franchise at all
Well, define true ending. If you want to be difficult about it, you did not actually get true ending because of one, pre-third semester, barrier; one which would have also given you more things to waste time on in the evenings.

I am surprised I managed to get through Shido's Palace without a map for the rat puzzle on my first playthrough of Royal, I stumbled around a bit, but totally got through it with minimal issues.
Not to mention the Depths of Mementos floor puzzles, I actually found this one relaxing to do, unlike the stupid rat puzzle in Shido's Palace, which is arguably more annoying than Okumura's airlock puzzle.

I started a new playthrough, on Hard, but with a twist, I put my allies on Act-Freely. I am currently approaching Kaneshiro's Palace and am looking forward to seeing how much fun it could be.
So far the hardest fight was against the Madarame blue will seed boss, Arahabaki. Joker kept curing the brainwash with Detox, but the others weren't so lucky and then Arahabaki 1 shot everyone with Mapsio (it was the only attack that worked on Joker since I was using Shiki-ouji with the trait to reduce the chance of getting inflicted with status effects). On the 3rd try, I debuffed his attack and won the fight, but man that felt great.
I am loving this limitation of having to figure out strategies to make the AI work with me to overcome encounters.
EDIT: I am currently about to face Maruki with the Hard, Act Freely playthrough. This will be fun to see if my allies use the baton pass, my team is Ryuji, Ann and Yoshizawa. My Ann has 80 MAG stat from our dates to the Jazz Club with 2 Fire Amp passives and Fire Boost.
So there's an oversight with Mementos Depths that allows you to rake in the money and xp when normally it disables the bonuses? Could you explain that part a bit clearer? That's insane.

Really enjoyed this run, one small thing. In P5R Joker is in Juvenile detention since new years so its been like 2ish months and Sae has been working the case the whole time so even though it feels super short it's still not really any shorter than P5 overall. Still weird how like a week of protest was all it took to break them though 👀
I kind of wonder if Jokers wish did come true and Akechi does come back but Joker wanted another mission with his friends so that's why Akechi comes back cause thatd make some sense

Honestly, Adam Kadmon gave me nightmares. I don't know why. Haven't been able to listen to "Throw Your Mask Away" for a while because of that boss fight.
Idea for another challenge, The same thing but Upside Down u cant make ANY Confidance points ever, expect those who are story based (Igor, Sae, And Morgana)(or Akechi if Vanilla))

How did you get the third semester? I thought you needed Kasumi, Akechi and Maruki at max. But you were locked out at a certain rank on Akechi because you needed more knowledge witch you could not increase. Please enlighten me if I am wrong.
You only need to max out Maruki to get the third semester. Ranking up Akechi to 8 and Kasumi to 5 only extends their storylines.

I'm curious as to why they decided not to tease P5 Strikers in P5R, especially since they released fairly close to eachother with Google saying P5R released Halloween of 2019 and P5S in February of 2020.

Maruki is no different from shido, forcing his will onto everyone “for a better future”. His reasons for building such a world are quite selfish when you dig deeper, hence the eldritch horrors you fight that pose as human. In the end, maruki is just like every other palace ruler, but with a moral compass and more control/understanding of his palace. I believe it is important to ground yourself and not blindly take things at face value, especially with someone like maruki

Not gonna lie, me, personally... I'd let Maruki win. It's selfish and won't be a thing everybody would agree with but... It's the truth. The "bad" ending you can get is honestly the best "bad" ending I've seen even if it's Protag-kun denying what he knows is actually happening to let everybody else stay in Maruki Land.
Well, but then all of their growth and and development no longer matter. I can see how you think Maruki is in the right but honestly, he isn't completely in the right.
It's honestly such a good battle of ideals and I love Maruki as an antagonist
@@phantomnite When it's compared to other bad endings, it's definitely the "happiest" but all that really means is, like, nobody died or the world didn't explode and nothing like every bad ending of Corpse Party happened. It's definitely a bad ending it's just that, in the grand scheme of bad endings, it could be way worse. Like the ending earlier on where you snitch on your friends and _actually_ spill that bottle of red grape juice instead of mind grape juice that leads to the rest of the game.
