      99% of most no start conditions with snow throwers are human related!!! :). I hope your back up and running! Because fuel is a big issue going bad inside the carburetor not allowing the machine to start, (human related) I would try and stay away from gasoline coming out of the gas pump unless you can find non ethanol gas. I would highly suggest using Aspen4 gas you can purchase in quart of gallon containers. Here is a link to read about it and find a location near you. www.aspenfuels.com/products/alla/aspen-4/. If you start using it your starting issues will, for the most part go away and make sure you watch the start up video before the winter storms hit! LOL.

      If you left gas in the machine? Most likely fuel has gone bad in the carburetor not allowing the engine to run. Gas will turn sour(go bad) from sitting. You will most likely need to try and drain the carburetor and fuel tank of old gas and put fresh in. You may need to rebuild or replace the carburetor if flushing does not work. I have videos on how to do it.

    Excellent details in that video. I just purchased this machine online from Home Depot and it’s being delivered tomorrow so I’m interested in learning as much as possible about it. As far as Gas is 89 or 93 octane good? And what kind of oil, do you need for this machine, specifically?

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  3 роки тому +3

      I would use 93 octane or a product called TruFuel that you can purchase from The Home Depot. Check the manual for recommended engine oil but I would say either 10W/30 or some of the newer machines are now using 5W/30. Check manual.

    Thank you! Great videos - easy to follow narration and camera work. It gave me the confidence to try to fix my snow blower which hadn’t started in two years (despite a few attempts). I can’t get it to run smoothly however. It sounds like, “vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom”. Any thoughts? Here’s what I did to get it started. I sprayed the carb and choke openings with a carb cleaner spray, changed the spark plug and oil, and added some gumout into the tank (old gas with some white deposits at bottom of tank). It started, but ran very rough for the 20+ minutes until it ran dry. A day or two later, I added Mechanic in a Bottle and ethanol free gas, but it still runs rough. What is left to do? Thanks again for your videos!

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  Рік тому

      My apologies for not getting back to you sooner, your comment was held. Your surging is due to the carburetor has a blockage inside. If you feel comfortable doing so, follow the directions in the description of this video on how to remove the carburetor, then rebuild it or replace it. There are videos to help you through the entire process in the description.

    I have a similar machine it doesn't start up as easily as yours does but runs well on long island maybe used it 10 times in 5-6 years sometimes I notice as it's running a small kick or hiccup but it evens out I've changed oil n spark plug still does it the machine is from 2018 never sits with gas in it carb should be clean I do run stabile through it when I'm storing it

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  Рік тому

      Knowing that the machine is hardly used, most likely the carburetor will need to be removed and cleaned to get the hiccup out. Sometimes no matter how good we store the machine, the gas will sit somewhere in the carburetor and go bad.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines

      You can use 10w30 or 5w30 in the engine. You can buy True-Fuel (grey can) or regular pump gas at the gas station. I would recommend the highest octane at the pump. The oil and True-Fuel you can purchase at The Home Depot.

      Yes, make sure the electric starter works if it has one, Make sure when the engine is running that the choke is completely in the off position. If you need to keep the choke on even just a little that means the carburetor needs to be rebuilt. Check to make sure the bottom skid plate and side skid shoes are not worn out. If they are worn thin, that is a sign of hard use. It also should start within a few pulls of the pull rope. That was just a few to quickly check.

Took notice the auger wasn’t working so I took the belt cover off and discovered the belt is worn, ripped and broken with a good amount of black gookie caked up residue throughout the pulley, cable spring and the compartment. Replaced the 2 belts, spark plug, fresh oil and gave it a good cleaning. Gonna change the flywheel and add a stator so I can install a light. Found a used stator and flywheel for $50. The reason why it will not run is because just what you said, you haven’t run it since last year or at least a year ago and now the fuel in the carburetor is bad. You most likely need a carburetor flush, rebuild or replace, depending on how bad it is inside the carburetor. To avoid issues in the future, either rum your machine totally out of fuel, run the machine periodically during the off months for 15 minutes at a time every other month, and also use non ethanol fuel or TrueFuel that you can purchase at hardware stores.
