Your thorough explanations make it possible for anyone that’s motivated to dive in and try to fix their own stuff. I will say that my old ariens 824 has never had a fuel problem thanks to the worn out bowl drain gasket . I should change it but i emjoy the challenge of figuring out how much gas needed for 20-25 mins. My goal is to get it back in the garage right at the precise moment the carb runs dry! 😆 I also added your green handled clip tool to my wish list

I want to thank you for your video. I hadn't started my snow blower all year its only 3 years old. I clean the carburetor jet it was clogged. After cleaning it, it started right up. Thanks Joe from Minnesota. Oh and we got hit with 8" of snow lol.
I'm glad to hear all worked out! We saw our first snow this winter for the first time in 2 years. Many snow throwers needed help season. Please give this video a like, subscribe if you haven't already and share my channel to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated!
Great video!. Straight to the point, easy to fallow along. I paused the video 6 or 7 times to do what you had just explained, and was able to change out the carb in about 40 minutes. It fired the second that I touched the starter button. Thanks

Thanks so much for your video. We have 8" of snow on the ground right now and expecting another 4. When we couldn't get our snow blower started, your video was a god send. We had the solution that worked within 14 minutes, and now we know! It fired up, and we have been clearing our driveway all morning, which would have been impossible with just shovels. Thank you!
I’m glad it was helpful and your not shoveling!! Thank you for sharing and the kind comment. Please give this video a thumbs up and share my channel with your friends to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated! Take care :)

Thanks to your video my mom and I were able to fix our snowblower today! It wouldn’t start and we followed along with what you did and now it works! We thank you so very much for making this video.
Great job! Not just this video but your other ones as well. You explain everything extremely well and other possible scenarios. You also show everything necessary so that anyone follow and can do it step by step. Thank you!!

Nice job: Some times I have to drill out the low speed jet a size or two up with a mini drill set if surging occurs. Also you won't believe how many people ask me where the air filter is. There usually is no air filter on a snow blower! Thanks for a great video.
Great video. Can you tell us what size is the bolt at the bottom of the carburetor that you took off to drain the gas? None of my sockets fit it. I also the same question for the bolts to keep the cover on around the carburetor.
Getting to be that time of year. Just got a free mtd with a electric start tecumseh engine on it. Starts right up just needs axel bushings. Just thought I'd share that. But hey thanks for everything you are doing.

I have a Craftsman 21" model 2478. It seems to be the same basic snow blower as the one in your video ... just rebranded as Craftsman not Troybilt. I followed your instructions to clean the carb. Your advise and instructions were perfect. All seemed well until I released the clamp on the gas line. Fuel is leaking at the carb bowl. Upon inspection it appears I crimped the gasket. Cab you provide me with a part number to replace the bowl gasket
You will need to take the model number off of the sticker on the machine. Then go to the web site "Sears Parts Direct" to find the correct part for your engine. Here is the link. www.searspartsdirect.com/
Thanks for you quick attention! Yeah, been there done that. They offer no carb repair parts for model 747.881733. And Jacks Small Engines wants me to buy a full rebuild kit. The carb is basically new, doesn't need a rebuild.
Then I would suggest you heading to your local small engine repair shop in your area and ask them for a junk carburetor. I’m sure they have many that they may even give to you if they’re nice people. I would definitely take your model number of your machine because they’re going to question what engine you have on there and you may even need to take the engine model and serial number off of the engine that is stamped on the right hand side if you’re standing behind the machine on the bottom of the engine.
I’m glad it was helpful and thank you for the kind comment. Please give this video a like, and share my channel to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated! Take care.
Thanks for the video, I inherited a three year old blower which had only been used once and had never had the original fuel changed or drained, so you know it wouldn’t start. I followed your video, put fresh fuel in and it started right up. But now after starting it up I can only back the choke off one or two clicks or it runs really rough. If I move it all the way to run it dies. Any idea what might be causing that? Thanks again.
The carburetor will need to come off and be rebuilt or replaced depending on how bad it is inside. There should be all links in the description to remove and rebuild it.
This was a great video. Easy to follow. However, I put it back together after cleaning but now it surges when idling. It’s like rpms go up and down. No matter what I do, I’ve turned off the choke, lowered the idling speed, moved it back up with no change. At least the good news is, it starts and runs now. Its brand new, used it once last year and haven’t been able to get it started until now. it starts right up and runs, but sounds like crap. The only thing different in your vid was the three tiny holes inside the carb - I couldn’t find any of those…,does every model of Troy-bilt have those inside their carburetors?
Draining the bad gas through the carburetor bolt solved it for me. It was orangish in color just like he said. I had fuel stabilizer in but it didn’t seem to work.
Check into using Aspen 4 fuel instead of using pump gas and stabilizer to stop having the carburetor issues from gas going bad from sitting. Here is a link to read up on it and see if you can purchase it where you live. www.aspenfuels.com/products/alla/aspen-4/

Yes, clean the gas tank. I normally will use a turkey baster or something to suck the fuel from the tank, then put fresh gas in and repeat if necessary. Then once the fuel looks good in the tank. Flush the fuel line with the good gas from tank.

Thank you. Runs like a champ. How do you remove plastic throttle from carb if to put on another non Troy/MTD carb?
If your talking about the plastic choke rod? Here is a link to "how to remove choke shaft". ua-cam.com/video/K-7sCtF-B1Y/v-deo.html

10mm for both, carburetor and mounting hardware. I normally show all tools needed. Not sure why I did not on this video.
