Thanks so much for watching! Yes, I do know there is an alternative ending, but if I wasn't able to kill a lesser drake, I'm not entirely sure I would have been able to beat the unmoored world. Also, I was really sick of playing like this so wrapping it up as fast as I could was my main objective. Maybe in another video, but thanks so much for the advice it's much appreciated!
I dont think at this point, unmoored unarmed is worth the time for even contents sake. The only exception would be, optimize ur build for unarmed combat through vocation lvling with no restrictions. In other words. Prepare for an unarmed fight. Hit ur stat cap, dragon forged armor, dwarven smith enhanced gear, prepare ur main pawn for the same. Makee choices in the main game to you make endgame easier(talos spoiler) Get to that point however u want, take on the unmoored world unarmed
The dogs dragging you around and you getting knocked around/unable to hit flying enemies just emphasizes how much at least one other party member is required
Not true, if you play trickster like I do, there's two instances you can find yourself solo and have drop your censer to box some ears in. But yeah other than that.
Makes me mad tbh. I love punching shit in rpgs, and the fact that they put all this effort into any animations just to make it basically completely unviable is really mean.
For anyone that doesn’t know jump and grabbing small enemies tackles them to the ground and pins them. Grabbing an enemy and running into a wall does a wall slam.
Pro tip (I did this run inspired off your first vid), getting some points in Sorcerer for the augment that makes it harder to knock you around AND wearing at least one ring that gives you even more stability is phenomenal. IT makes pretty much every non-boss enemy's basic attacks do nothing, you can just keep slugging away.
You literally could've told me this before and I would've thanked you from the bottom of my soul. This would've helped so much with all the Dragons I drowned and the one that drowned in Lava Brine. 🌚
Would be awesome if there was a monk type vocation. A mix of theif, mage, and warrior. Just a really cool thought. Wish DD2 devs would take some request.😂
it actually doesn't, the air kicks and stuff are just part of the unarmed moveset I'm pretty sure, it uses one food where the running jump kick with the bows is a full body drop kick with both feet
the knockdown res augment on Sorcerer, and the knockdown rings with the Warrior's knockdown power augment pretty much means you can spam heavy attacks and get the finishers so often that you barely need to focus on the damage you'll be doing. its kinda funny, just how strong knockdown power is in this game. Also the augment from fighter for getting up faster is so good, it saved me from so many bad situations. Can also grab verve from thief, and lethality from archer if you want to really push the DPS. Even if the bonuses from that are kinda low.
I was so unbelievably disappointed when I realized that Verve is a flat 30 strength bonus, like even with thief or archer which have lower stats on their weapons than other physical classes, it's like a 5% buff, less if you're using fighter, warrior, or mystic spearhand
@@femthingevelyn it's pretty much obvious that they REALLY wanted to tone back the DPS of some vocations. . . BUUUUUT; its also pretty obvious that the Thief, Warrior, Archer, etc. can still absolutely melt lifebars when kitted out. So; while I miss the augments, and actually think they should be something else (especially since they are so damn low), they at least are SOMETHING you can slap on if you have a free augment slot. Personally; I would've just cut those augments out, and maybe put in some other interesting augments in their place. That; and some more vocations, but that's neither here nor there lol
@@pockystyx4087 none of that matters if you have a Sorc in your party at higher levels. I'm around level 75, strength around 1000, swapping between thief and warrior. And two casts of Meteor from the sorc pawn kills everything, including drakes. It's honestly annoying cuz they kill everything so fast lol
Ambuscade from Archer is a higher damage increase than Lethality, the only caveat is that you need the monsters knocked down. You can and should run both for a 15% combined damage increase👍
I'm playing a gladiator type, which is fist and shield. You can use some fighter skills without the sword. Including vengeful slash. This helps with a defensive option.
I literally just finished watching the Fist Only DD1 video and looked over at the recommended videos and saw that this was posted less than 30 minutes ago. Perfect timing and great vids. I'll definitely subscribe for more fun Dragons Dogma content
Something I found out when I was messing around unarmed is that if you pick up an enemy while they are stunned and sprint at a wall you'll actually ram them into it.
15:58 - For easy 15 WLC, kill the lesser dragon in Melve using the balista and loot the body for 10 WLC. The remaining 5 WLC can be picked up from next to the Dragonforged.
playing solo this game as a thief at first was terrible to deal with these harpies, but bro when I unlocked the rope skill I had so much fun having my revenge against those ugly birds
I love when the enemies seppuku themselves, but not when they're like 1 hit or I needed their drops. I would never have the patience to do this fists only run. Kudos to you for this!! 👍
I would adore a brawler vocation. Unrelated, without knowing a thing, the first journey I did in this game was Magoo my way to the Volcanic Island, and unlocked Magick Archer before ever reaching the castle. I died four thousand times, but it was worth it.
Great video, I don't know if I could bring myself to play through the whole game unarmed. A small note though- the ring of brawn is not bugged; it just doesn't show the damage boost in the status menu. There's a damage numbers mod that you can use to test it. 2x Ring of Brawn at < 10kg carry weight was the best way for me to kill the dragons unarmed, and it's a pretty substantial damage boost. It kind of sucks for the rest of the game because you have to be at that low of a carry weight.
I wasn't sure about how I felt about throwing being added to the run until I watched you clobber a goblin with a boulder the size of a washing machine then I was convinced
That’s such a good point about the beastrin increase unarmed damage. They should also add in the passive wolves have. Increase cold resistance . But they take more fire damage.
I love how you can take a ride on the dragon in the last battle and you get a couple extra dialogue from him, game as so many hidden lil things that a lot of people wont notice on their first playthough
If you get bitten by wolves you gotta spam the attack buttons and it gets you free faster, or at least it seems to might be different for tall characters.
The knockdown resistance and weakness from vocation changing is because the augments leave after vocation changing. You could have put the augments back on and leveled it nevertheless. Love the vid yo
Fist only is fun in NG+ when you can just have tons of STR from levels to make up for lack of weapon. In DD1, my first playthrough was normal, then me + pawn, then me as an orc with full str buffing gear and fists. One shot the first few monsters that run.
I was definitely feeling your pain in some of these clips. I play Trickster a lot, who cannot even use their fists if they are trying to control aggro with their smoke clone (unequipping your censer makes it rapidly disappear). But you can still throw enemies/rocks and help knock over bosses, which I think a lot of people forget about when considering playing a "no damage" class. That said, I did once have to unequip my censer when fighting a golem, because my pawns just couldn't quite get the last medal. Although I was level 81 at the time, so my fists did huge damage against it, lol. I think we were all really hoping against all hope that we'd get a "monk" or "pugilist" style of vocation in DD2. Maybe we'll be lucky with new vocations in a DLC, but I'm not betting on it. Would absolutely love to see an expansion of the grappling mechanics a lot of the melee vocations have, especially Thief's "pinning" move. It would be so awesome if we got a "parry" move that leads into a throw or grapple somehow! I also like how the Archer seems to use the default unarmed kick attacks and expands on them a little. Maybe a "Using Only My Feet" playthrough with Archer is an idea? lol!
I did this once! Lvl 37 mind, with fighter/warrior background so high strength. Main pawn was a mage for healing. No support pawns. Just took off all my clothes, no weapons... Went full Beowulf on a cyclops. Great video!
you don't even need to pause, just use the item shortcut, found that out when I got overconfident with Formless Feint and realized it does not protect you from Spoiler Goop
One thing I noticed regarding the savagery and stoutness extracts in this game is that they are more just a very minor boost compared to the anime level power up you get from the periapts in the first game. Also, the extracts seem to override each other, so I'm not sure the intended use case for them. In DD2, the best temporary boost I've seen is from just cooking aged meat while camping. The boost is phenomenal and lasts for about an in-game day/night.
You can heal after dying before it asks you for a wakestone revive by the way. I hope this helps people. Sometimes if you fall from a height it won't let you, but even eating an apple gets you back up.
I can't imagine how frustrating this playthrough was to do. Only time I used fists was when I switched vocations and got jumped by a side encounter in batahl near the pub. By then I was mid 50s and every enemy scales to you to an extent

You gotta spam buttons and the joystick to get outta grabs and wolves. Idk the exact method but it works for me. Oh and shake the remote. Should work almost immediately.
It's honestly criminal we didn't get the Monk vocation again. Just imagine an actual full unarmed moveset, some charged attacks and timed attack mechanics similar to warrior. Mix in a couple of elemental martial skills, some kind of magic buff skill for unarmed damage and a counter and dodge skill and you're set. Not sure what would be a good R1 vocation skill... Maybe some kind of Nioh-esque Ki pulse or something to restore health + stamina a give you a temporary buff of stats?
I don‘t know if it works every time, but if you fall or get attacked and your hp drops to zero, if you spam healing then you heal and don’t have to use a wakestone.
With all those cool animations that pretty much no one will ever see they really should make a class based on weapon less combat. Like we already even do shoryukens.
They did us Monk-class lovers dirty by not having a Martial Artist/Monk vocation in the game. Also Vergil/Samurai lovers, getting teased by that Itsuno post that he's "studying katana" some time ago prior to the game release. BTW, you could have made your life against wolf packs really easy by carrying a Rotten Beast Steak. When you encounter wolves, you discard 1 piece on the ground and they all obediently go to that to eat and poison themselves. You can then freely beat them up and pick up the item again after, as long as you finish them off before they finish the meat. Off-topic, but fighting a Minotaur bare-handed reminds me of that one cool manga "Karate Baka Isekai".
I'm so excited for shaolin fist weapon class in elden ring dlc, I hope they add something similar in dragon's dogma so I can finally have my complete Taifu the Tiger cosplay 🔥
I just wanna say that at level 70 in ng+ I am able to kill vernworth goblins in 3 hits with my fist, I really think even if difficulty isn't addressed that I shouldn't have zero reason to equip my weapons unless an enemy specifically wants me to cut or bonk them like the various saurians. Considering goblins make up the majority of ground combat, and I'd imagine wolves don't fare better
I do a bunch of unarmed and i would really reccommend 2 rings of vehemence for knockdown bonus, that way you can rely on crits for damage and you can somewhat crowd control enemies as a sort of defense.
Harpies are just the worst if you aren't an archer, a mage, a sorcerer ... or are trying to fight them on a wooden bridge with the brine underneath you. btw .. now you've got me wondering how many levels of strength it would take to beat the final dragon with one punch.
Seeing you stare down a pack of wolves barehanded as they circle insighted fear in me. Then the fucking rock flying at you with the "want a break from the ads?" Sent me😂😂

Ah yes. The sequel to what brought me to this channel. Rad
I don‘t know if it works every time, but if you fall or get attacked and your hp drops to zero, if you spam healing then you heal and don’t have to use a wakestone.
I don't know why but will never not look hilarious to climb something huge up to his face and just knee it in the mouth over and over
The "that griffin just committed sudoku" got me way more than it should've
I think you have a delightful personality
Thank you so much you are too kind
I would have allowed kicks too, take archer and punch and kick your way thru the game
He basically did kick anyway. With the stomps & grapple knees.
i would love a monk class in this game, the weapons are just special gloves. it would be so fun man handling all the things like a kungfu master
They need to add an martial art’s class where the user can equip fist weapons and can use the power of chi or something like that. It would be so cool
Much love bro! Checking out the first game before i buy DD2 and this vid deff helps! 🤙🏾
Glad I could help
“That one sure did hurt!”
Worth a sub😂😂
I'm so excited for shaolin fist weapon class in elden ring dlc, I hope they add something similar in dragon's dogma so I can finally have my complete Taifu the Tiger cosplay 🔥
A Fromsoft Soulslike is adding in a fist weapon class before Dragon's Dogma dats tuff...
@@keztannis6848 It's easier when you only get like 4 attack animations lol
I think the scariest part of this playthrough is that you actually stayed at the $9999 inn
isent beastren get normal price? or they hate all arisen?
Not as expensive as buying all the morbillion microtransactions 😂😂😂
@@keztannis6848 don't look at Devil May Cry 5's microtransactions
FYI for everyone. In bakbahtahl, that first in is such a scam! There is an in right past the tents to the right that is only 2000 g not 9999g
The ring + augment that restores health on kill would've been so good for you in this.
