love to hear the personal story of Schumann behind the music, also thanks to the cameramen, excellent video- very clear the excellent playing is so good I just take it for granted= BRAVO to you all
The Mendelssohn op 80 is almost unique in 19th century chamber music in its expression of grief and anger. It's not performed enough maybe because it so dark. This is a wonderful performance despite the rather poor reproduction. (My only quibble -- I would choose a faster more driving tempo for the 2nd movement). Anyone who has lost a loved one can relate to this music. Thanks for posting this. I look forward to hearing the recording of the full Schumann quintet.
The Schumann comes off well. This performance is also a wonderful demonstration of the difference between professional and (outstanding) amateur playing.
A beautiful performance an interpretation of grief anger, joy and eternal peace. Thank you for this performance.

Wow! No complaints here. Love the discussions and explanations too.
I saw them in Portland, OR in person "live on the radio" summer 2018. Wonderful group, wonderful music.
Wow they are really amazing. The Gold Standard!!!
Thank you! See you in Santa Fe in August!

Now having to Google "cello with no tailpiece" omg?!
Great performance -- it's a shame the sonics here seem to be a bit AM radio, though.
I don't think the audience appreciated the magnificent playing of this difficult piece.
You guys should play Crisantemi by Puccini. It's one of the most beautiful songs for a quartet
The Brayden channel we have!! It is so beautiful, and we love it!
What do you mean "we have it" ?
I said “we have”, as in yes we have played it before :) .
Oh. Did you not record it ?
No, not that time around. We played it at a private event. But you are right, it is such a beautiful piece and we loved playing it!
