So did you get an improvement on head flow I just did the same thing on a set of 906 has but I don't have the car on the road yet so I don't know whether I picked up any power or not I heard porting vortex actually hurts them but I couldn't resist

I don't have a flow bench and didn't finish them, switched to working on the ebay alum heads. I have no doubt they will improve some with basic proven port work but the vortec head is already a good design so there is not much room for improvement just as David Vizard said in his video and I agree. Most modern heads are a better design with also improvements in manufacturing and less cost compromises. I don't know if you'll notice the gain nor can I say how much they could improve.

porting any head doesn't hurt it unless for some reason you fuck with the floor and not the ceiling, porting and polishing to a mirror finish the exhaust will greatly improve flow, and taking out those stupid bowl ridges second only to mount everest will improve flow, unless Ur running nitro or boost don't polish the intake runner, just port them, get the casting marks out, open the shit out of the bowl, 50-75hp gains easy depending on the set up

@@wesulf7517 its easy to fuck the flow up on these vortec heads by getting over zealous.these heads shine in a specific rpm bracket and aren't really the best for high rpm

As Trillrif mentioned vortecs are easy to mess up, not much room left for improvement on them. I cut the spark plug boss back some but to much can hurt low end. Supposedly a vortex forms there and if you look at a lot of modern chambers they will have a sim notch. Max effort ported heads won't because they only care about top end and in my opinion the vortecs runner is to small for that

Cast Iron has graphite in it and usually is machined dry, unless at a high rate of production then a coolant can be used. Cast Iron is also porous so any used heads should have some oil in the pores. Anything that's used on the burr, you'll end up breathing so wear a respirator. That's why with Aluminum I prefer to use paraffin wax, if I want to go faster.

Hi do you have vortck 062 full porting and polish and instal spring and stud with gideplate ready to bolt it

Sorry I am not a professional porter but you should contact a WELL known porter, if you wish to purchased modified oem heads. Otherwise I suggest a NEW aftermarket brand like maybe DART for heads that are designed with thicker decks and already machined for screw in studs and guideplates. Head modification is a hobby for me atm and my videos are to help other diy types, thx for viewing.

LOL it takes more than watching a vid or a few to learn porting, this is a vlog not a how-to

@@BOOT lol...seriously? "A vlog"? You got started , and then told EVERYONE you QUIT! The supposed "vlog" went totally OFF topic and had us all fooled then. We came here to see what your porting style and tips are for the vortec SPECIFICALLY. I already know about head porting and done it to a handful. I have only done very mild casting clean up to the Vortec and polishing of the exhaust, since they flow really well already. So I already know how and have done 4 pair of vortec heads. I thought you had something else going for the vortec. Didn't come here to see about aluminum heads. Maybe you'll change your mind and surprise everyone with a "new" head, off a Ford Ranger! Lol.....

Yup a vlog, my channel is about sharing my experiences working on my projects. AND sometimes the direction of a video changes because that's life! I'm not a pro and clearly state that in the beginning of the video. The heads will be completed someday in my donor build series when ever I get back to that. Sorry I'm not a ford guy so don't get your hopes up LOL of course I know your joking! If your into porting you got a lot to learn bout what's important, if your worried bout what I didn't show LOL

@@BOOT look for a SBC 400 to put those heads on, you would get great results from your work. Those heads will flow better now then stock, I mildly ground the valve bosses on mine also, working great so far. Thanks

400cu would be nice but not unless it's a SHP block or better I'll keep saving. I wanted to shape the guides some as well, hopefully I can get back to them soon
