This sounds like how it would sound in the Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal soundtrack, less garage and tech and more bombastic, loud orchestra. Very nice
I'm not sure what this remix makes me feel. The orchestral notes give it such an INTENSE feel compared to the funky but vast moodiness of the original. I really like it either way. The sampling of the visibomb's SFX early on in the song was an especially good transition for the bass to come back in!
I liked the simplicity of the original and this kinda robs the BASSLINE of its power because there's so much else going on, but I appreciate the effort that went into making this a thing
The original Gremlik's Base is one of my favorite tracks from the game, but man you knocked it out of the park with this reimagining. I love the intense style of this as much as I love the alien and ethereal style of the original. Phenomenal work from someone who is obviously a big big fan of that soundtrack and musical style of the original game
If you ever feel like doing another like this, could I recommend Tabora Mining Area? Its my top favorite track of all time (in any video game ever) This one is probably up in top 5 though for ratchet Osts! Great work.
Wow, this is phenomenal. You've transformed a track which was already one of the most atmospheric into something driving and powerful. Exactly what the reimagining's soundtrack should have been - still quite disappointed we missed out on even a revised level, let alone a track like this. Fantastic job, you should be very proud of what you've created!
0:36 I got chills Amazing work on this! This has always been my favorite track, hearing it so different yet so familiar is cool, love just how much variety is packed in here too, it all sounds genuinely great.
I love listening to the music from Gemlik Base but Honestly, This remix of Gemlik Base is freaking incredible and it even works for high-stakes moments like what if it is going through a asteroid storm while still exploring and battling Captain Qwark. I rate it in my opinion, 10/10. 💙
I kid you not, the moment I entered in this level, the music was just so good, I stood there for minutes, listening. Now this.... This is just a fantastic job, that makes me love it even more mate
Whole area open to vacuum? A breathing mask will be fine. Don't even need to wear a shirt! I kid, but honestly I kinda love it when cartoony stuff just doesn't sweat things like that.
When I played the remake I was disappointed that this level wasn't included. Looking back I realized I'm not a fan of the remake anyway so I'm glad this level went untainted.
Sounds awesome! Love how you timed the tower destruction for the gold bolt with the song 😆 I didn't even knew there was a gold bolt there till now. You learn something new everyday 😄
This is really nice. I've been trying to do similar for some time now, but my hunt for samples has been more of a hit or miss in comparison so I've not been as successful. It's still amazing to see that I'm not alone in keeping the OG R&C music spirit going.
Just checking out your stuff now, awesome as. I assume you already knew about those from what I'm hearing. The community needs a page where we can collate every sample we've found
@@xotlagames fwiw? and yeah some are definitely harder than others, I'm disappointed in how hard metropolis is to recreate (as well as the UYA version with those sick synths)
There are some parts of this I love and some parts I'm mixed on. The big brass stings that make for your bombastic tone don't really do it for me when i compare it to what i like and how the original makes me feel, perhaps I'd like it better if it came in later because I think it works very well in the second half of the song and the way it builds up to the big break during the visibomb segment. I do think that change is quite strong specifically on its own merits without the comparison to the original however. I also really like how you handled some of the more ambient sections like the opener, closer, and the break in the middle of the song. You're right about it not being a remaster, and it makes a damn strong tribute on its own terms and I quite enjoy that about it! The outro was absolutely excellent in particular.
I'VE PLAYED THIS GAME A THOUSAND TIMES AND I NEVER KNEW YOU COULD GET THE GEMLIK GOLD BOLT THAT WAY WTF I've been getting it the virgin way this whole time, by coming back after beating quark 🤡
Things like this and the bolt in the tunnel on orxon are part of why I think these games hold up so well, they reward you for going out of your way to explore every corner of their worlds for secrets. It feels as though you're breaking the game's rules despite playing into exactly what the developers intended.
Don't get me wrong this is really good but it kind of doesn't work, something I personally love about the songs is the dryness to them how everything is extremely clear and not layered to hell.
You're right, I wanted to go super over the top with this one. I'll make it up to you by making a downtempo minimalist version ;) It's a pretty common amateur's mistake to add to many layers when making music. But I do it anyway apparently.
I get what you're going for, you're trying to make it sound big and dynamic, but you've done it with loudness which is very focused, the added instruments entirely drown out the original track, with some tweaking it could amazing.
@@Cade_The_Squirrel Thanks for that, I'll take you thoughts on board. fwiw this was a from-scratch recreation, it doesn't contain the original track (only the same samples it used).
Unfortunately I don't have the time at the moment, but it would be a good exercise in transcription to listen through while playing along until you get all the right notes :)
Good remix. I don't like it that much. It's not to my taste but that doesn't mean it isn't good it is well made just some areas aren't my thing and I hate orchestral or 'certain ways' instrumentation can be presented. Also for atmospheric tracks I prefer electronic more not classical/some instrument choices or structure/sound design choices for them. I'm very sound design picky for not being an artist at all (but do a bit of experimenting in my own time, not with good software though). Sound design tricks/structural patterns appeal to me a lot so. XD I do prefer it leaning into things differently but I won't deny if they were to go an orchestral route I think this would make sense. If it was Spyro Reignited but enhanced I probably would like it that much either. I like I liked Hurricos more in Reignited, it's a track I didn't appreciate till Reignited the differences (was also a track they highlighted as well). That and the 2016 soundtrack was forgettable or doesn't even feel distinct. It feels like any generic track over a location then 'hmm we need a city, a space station, a toxic planet' more atmospheric focus differences applied like 2000s games and older used to have, sigh. RIP this level not in 2016 game, one of my favourite levels for so many reasons. Hard, but fun. Like Spyro 1 Tree Tops, hard as ever but like the best level for music and level design. I think the calmer bits before it builds up didn't lean into the bass or space side as much. Listening to it again it is better (part of it is my headset/audio testing this with than another headset). Or is a bit lacking in conveying much, but I also get why orchestral doesn't do that (or the choices people choose for the instruments that can) while more electronic would. The ramping up makes sense in that orchestral way though so that suits it. I didn't as exciting as the original or what I have in my head but it does work it does seem like what would happen to convey it if someone were to do an orchestral mix. It's a fair approach but not really my thing, I give it half and half in certain areas. Takes effort to make this just in general though so not discounting that. Just not really my thing even though I respect it. It is like worry though.
Thanks for your feedback. I really only made this track to see if I could recreate Gemlik base from scratch using the original samples as a challenge, got bored of replicating every sound, and added horns instead. There wasn't much more thought put into it than that so I'm not at all fussed that people don't love it :)
Don't like it too much, adds too much to allow it to retain the vibe of being in the dangerous, lonely and spooky vastness of space, but doesn't add enough to be it's own punchy remix that stands up by iteself. It feels like what it is, the original music with some extra fanfiction added to the dead spaces.

Anyone interested in hearing any other tracks reimagined?
I would love to hear a reimagining of "Traversing the fortress"
Maybe make the Ratchet Orxon stage sound more creepy or catchy, I like the atmosphere although it's bland on repeat
Maybe veldin in peril reimagined?
please!
I love your Ratchet and Clank reimagined videos, I'd be interested if you want to make more of these
this is what the remake's soundtrack should have been
It's also too bad this level wasn't included in the reimagining
nah the remake is too terrible of a game to have a good soundtrack like this, the generic/bland one it has matches the overall game perfectly
@@fightaman7The game that was made, yes - but the argument here is that a better game could've easily been made instead
@@fightaman7come off it, clown. You have no idea what a terrible game actually is if you think that's bad.
The remake cut half the planets to rush it out with the movie
Gemlik Base has such an amazing theme, this adds so much to it while retaining the R&C feel expertly! Really well done

DUDE HOLY SHIT
The Devestator equip and fire sound for the drop goes so hard
THIS is how the R&C soundtracks should sound, the combindation of the orchestra and punchy mechanical/grungey instruments works so well

I absolutely ADORE this re-imagining! The hybrid orchestra gives me a big vibe of "what if Gemlik Base was in Going Commando."
Or "what if gemlik base orbited a black hole"
This reimagining is so good, feels like it's a R&C3 version that was lost. Amazing job
