Sharpen knives with coffee filters DIY paper power strop

Just decided to make a quick video to pass on something I learned from my local guild of leather workers. A stack of coffee filters can make a great buffing wheel to polish and sharpen tools and strop knife edges quickly.
Always be careful with power tools. Buffing wheels can throw things when not used properly.

FIRST!!!!! Kidding. How its hold up? Coffe filter is real cheap on my country and MDF is considered as an expensive material. Thanks for the inspiration

Will definitely not last as long as an MDF wheel, but very easy to just make another when needed.

Thanks for the video, I like the idea. I wonder if you feel this will be a better choice or would going with a MDF wheel would have been better? I appreciate your opinion, but please explain why you chose what you did. Thanks again.

Mostly this is just quicker and easier to make than an MDF wheel. You can put more pressure on MDF without it rolling over the edge. This wheel doesn't heat up the blade as fast as an MDF wheel. I still use a solid wheel more often for sharpening and just use this one as a strop to touch up an edge that is starting to drag a little bit when I cut leather.
