Patrick, please do a reaction to her performance of "God Bless the Child" from her HBO special in 1979. She takes it straight to church towards the end. And I was privileged to see that concert "live" in Charlotte NC that same year. The entire concert is AMAZING!!!
Another great review. I like how you spoke about her not receiving her props as a vocalist. Many people feel you ain't singing if you don't sound like you've stepped out of a Baptist church choir. IMO, it is nice to hear and appreciate the differences in voices. Re HOME, as much as I have enjoyed Diana doing this song in concert, I don't think she's ever topped her performance of the song in THE WIZ.
Thank you! I completely agree. She was super top tier in The Wiz. But, watching her performances from different era really makes me appreciate her so much more. I ABSOLUTELY love her voice. 🙌🏿💯. That’s my opinion, though. 😊💁🏾♂️.
Thank you Patrick u are so handsome 😎🌞 but u didn't have to sell me on Diana, I 💕 her version anyway .thanyu for your perspective...... I gonna keep watching u , whether good 👍 or bad 😞. I will be watching u 2023/24. 😎💯
I love you Patrick I just do, checkout ms Ross singing the National Anthem for PRESIDENT Clinton, and I know you saw her and mr Robinson singing MISSING YOU.. by the way for some reason I feel we're related..lol❤❤❤
So glad you reviewed this! I watched orig broadcast in 1981, I was in college and hovered over the dorm TV until her show came on. There were a handful of us in the lounge but everyone was wowed by this. Her performance here is stellar. She sang in 1979 at Cesar Palace but this was at the time she had left Motown, and produced this show. She knew what she was doing and was in her power. A great moment in history. Thanks again.
Hello. merci Patrick. B. Smith.
Diana sang Home live from 1977 till 1983 in the Central Park concert, then apparently dropped it before unexpectly reintroducing it in 2017. It's been a concert staple ever since. If she did it in certain concerts in the interim, I would love to know. Her current performances are surprisingly good for such a difficult song.
@@AlkalineInsides oh I can tolerate her singing it. But I grew up with the movie you probably didn't. When the movie came out the movie was a flop. And Diana Ross was the reason it was a flop. Mostly people wanted to see Stephanie Mills.
@@george4u1960 oh I see. Well I enjoyed the movie as a teenager in the 00’s lol. I used to be in chorus and my friends and I would watch it every now and then. We thought it was a little messy, yet intriguing. We used to be amazed at how she could run in heels like that lol. And we loved when she sang Be A Lion.. we were all in tears watching it together the first time. I love Stephanie Mills. But… idk I adore Diana’s connection to the music as well. I guess because i understand she was trying to find herself around that time and the music resonated with her deeply. And i understand that on a spiritual level. With Mills…. I only know she was on the broadway version. So… I just didn’t build that much of a connection. I enjoy how Diana plainly sings and interprets.
I love Diana Ross. I love her sound and stellar ability to entertain. Stephanie Mills said it well, 'Diana is Royalty'.
Do God Bless America ( Clinton inauguration) performance by Ms Ross please, and thanks.
Unbelievable!! She is the greatest! Period. What a phenomenal performance. You can't take it away from her.

Nobody can sell a song like Miss Ross! Nobody.
She sings this so beautifully.
Diana Ross has one of the most interesting, unique, distinguishable voices I’ve ever heard. I love her so much.
SHE MAKES IT LOOK EASY.
Yes, always supremely amazing.
Suggestion another great song by this amazing singer from 1982 "Diana Ross - Muscles"
Thanks Patrick for a great reaction video by Diana Ross. 👍

I was thinking about that Clinton inauguration performance too for a reaction.
@@kirk5487 thank you!
JESUS SHE CAN SING AMAZING LOVE FROM DENMARK
Check out Barbra Streisand's version. It's on her album "Release Me". Amazing! Diana Ross's version is also very beautiful and heartfelt.

I love Diana Ross. As long as she never sings home again.
What’s the problem?

Tell us how you really feel . 5:03 5:06
I feel NOTHING from her performance of “ Home!” “The Wiz” was terrible!
It's been said that Miss Ross is a weak vocalist. Really? They need to hear this performance. AMAZING!!
