Love your content man, keep up the good work! I was so waiting for you to upload a longer video. I've always been facinated bugs and never came across content that explains the prevention + impact of the various creatures out there.
@Dan The Bug Man, "...assassin bugs making sweet love to create more buggies..." 😂Those were definitely some exotic looking bugs. They reminded me of creatures from the prehistoric era. I remember these beetle larvae tho. When I was a kid we had some in a tree and it's roots. When I saw them I was wondering what kind of "worm" that was & then it bit me! So those mouth pieces are nothing to mess around with! I wondered, do woodpeckers pick up on these kinds of bugs/larvae? I was told before that generally that's why woodpeckers begin pecking trees is because they're able to "detect" grubs inside...
Mosquitoes do have a purpose believe it or not, the female mosquitos don't drink blood all the time only when she has eggs to lay, they feed on nectar in flowers and help with pollination in springtime. I use to feel the same way and wondered what purpose do they have except bite the piss out of you make you itch and spread horrible life threatening diseases, but they help with pollination feeding on nectar until it's time to have eggs fertilized and needs blood then. Male mosquitos don't ever bite and drink blood and lot of mosquitoe species don't just a handful of them and that's the ones that can spread virus. Ticks to me are the ones that have no purpose to me I can't find anything redeeming or anything good that they do that can help ecosystem. If they were no longer here would it impact the ecosystem? That's where I think nope they can just drop of the face of the earth so to speak, those and the bedbugs too!
We used to heat our house using a wood burning stove but ALWAYS kept the wood pile a good distance from the house and never stored cut wood inside just as a preventative measure.
Had a pest inspection today. They found an active wood boring beetle infestation in my crawl space. The house is older, so the wood was not pressure treated. 😢
Loved the video. Learnt something about these bug's finally! We had them in a house year's ago and couldnt find info on them. Glad to know about them now.
Having these beetles invade homes is no longer uncommon. I run a sawmill and I'm seeing more and more infestations of these beetles. Here in PA and MD, its the long horned type. I'm concerned, because in addition to my sawmill, I'm a carpenter and have found beetles in store bought lumber just in the last 2 years. This is after the drying and treating process to kill them. It's no longer working and each 300 stack of 2x4s from a major supplier, has evidence of infestation. Homeowners definitely need to keep an eye out for these in their homes as the climate warms and these little beetles become more widespread.
Hey Dan! What flashlight do you use in your videos specifically the cockroach infestation video? I’m in the same field and need a good flashlight can you link yours?
I just recently bought a home and the previous owner had left a pile of kindling next to the fireplace. I just noticed the sawdust and holes in the pile, but i have not seen any bugs. We burned the wood immediately but should i be worried about an infestation and the wood in my house. Sounds like these types of beetles are not interested in lumber, but i just worry because the ceiling in that room is all exposed wood :(
one just fell on my lap in the bathroom and while I was trying to not let it fall off my hand it started to try and bore into my finger and that surprised me a bit lol
Whats up Dan the bug man, i have a question. I recently started doing pest control and ive done a few roach and bed bug jobs. So my question is what do you do to not bring home bedbugs and roaches?
Hello! The truth about bringing home roaches and bed bugs is that it is very unlikely a roach or bed bug will be able to travel on on your clothes from the job, then into the truck, then make it on you the whole rest of the day, then all the way back home to your own house. But it is possible. If you want to be 100% sure then take off clothes at the door when you get home and put them straight into the dryer on high heat for 40 minutes
Hey! Is there a way to kill these infestation in wood piles? (Cost effectively?) Would diatomaceous earth kill the Beatles on z way out? Thank you for the video
I've been hearing clicking sounds in my bedroom walls. When I put my ear against the wall, I could hear CHEWING, actual crunching, of something eating wood. When I pushed on the one wall, the interior wall that held my bedroom doors, MOVED so much the doors were banging in frame! I nearly fainted I thought I was pushing the wall out.So I called a pest control. They looked around on the outside, they banged on the wall and didn't hear anything falling. They went up in the attic and didn't see anything. So he determined it was all in my head? I was over reacting? I imagined the chewing? Being able at 60 I could move walls? It couldn't possibly be the carpenter bees that swarm around outside the house near the eves? I did learn the clicking noise is from 'clicking Beatles' only because I found one in the bottom of a jar I kept brushes in and Googled the thing, But that chewing. Gnawing. Eating the wood frame. That was NOT my imagination. I guess I'll wait until the wall collapses and find out just what it was eating the framing of my house.
Any answers yet? My son's been complaining about the same thing near where his pillow is at the head of his bed. I heard it too. A bite of wood every 5-7 seconds. Very rhythmic. There's no rain, no dripping from the eve today. Dry day. It's this clicking coming from inside the wall.
you should look up lanternflies..if they ever hit your state that will be a big job for the pest control industry because they are tough to exterminate lol

I hope you continue to film what you do and keep being passionate. It’s very encouraging 😊

I just discovered a few large larvae in what's left of an old tree stump in my front yard. I initially thought I had Herculean termite queens 😂.
Loved the video.

I have wood boring beetles in several logs in my home. Do I strip the wood to bare wood and apply borate? What's my best option?
Please tell me what that guy sprayed on the Brown Recluse spider? He called it Gatorade.
