    Mindrolling - Raghu Markus - Ep. 321 - Rewriting Our Scripts w/ Duncan Trussell & Dr. Robert Svoboda: beherenownetwo...
    ================
    Duncan Trussell and Dr. Robert Svoboda join Raghu for a conversation about karma and rewriting our false narratives.
    This podcast was recorded live on stage at the 2019 Open Your Heart in Paradise Retreat in Maui. Sign up for the Ram Dass mailing list to get information about upcoming retreats, exclusive free teachings and announcements: Subscribe Today
    Nobody Special
    What does it mean to “become nobody”? Duncan and Raghu talk about the theme of the recently released film about Ram Dass’s life, Becoming Nobody, and discuss different ways that we can think about approaching our relationship with identity.
    “Through total attention, there is the true ‘nobody.’ Only then can you serve anybody.” - Raghu Markus
    Rewriting Our Scripts (10:30)
    The group looks at how mindfulness can be used as a tool to help us rewrite the many narratives we have developed about ourselves and the world we walk through. Dr. Svaboda talks about the teachings of Swami Vimilinanda and his unique method for working with identity and karma. Raghu and his guests explore the games that some spiritual teachers play with their students in order for greater truths to be revealed.
    Karma and the Movie of Me (37:00)
    Dr. Robert Svoboda explores the role that karma plays in our worldview and the stories that we tell ourselves. He examines some of the different teachings and perspectives on karma and how we might work with it.
    “Why should you choose to experience only your bad karmas and not take advantage of the good?” - Dr. Robert Svoboda

    All 3 of them are wonderful, but watching Ragu shoot Duncan looks when he cracks jokes while Robert is trying to be informative is so entertaining! Honestly the dynamic is perfect, this video is blessed XD

    I love Duncan because he seems so relatable, like you know him and he's a longtime friend even though most of us have never and will never meet him, and I feel like that's because he's vulnerable. He's open. He's very honest about his flaws, mistakes and shortcomings and even makes humor out of it. He lets his guard down and that's how you connect. That's how you enter "love" that Ram Dass always talks about! You don't have to totally give up separateness and outright merge your consciousness with the world/God and go back into Oneness obviously lmao (although that can be a very good path like Neem Karoli Baba took) but every time you let go of separation and defending the ego, even in the smallest amount, like genuinely apologizing for a mistake and feeling sorry for it, it is always good. And Duncan does things like that a lot! So that, along with a million other things, is why he's my hero!!

    Before “you” were as this avatar “you” were no body. We were the (capital) It as everything and the only thing, being; and life may be a process of once again becoming no body via the death graduation ceremony. Why? Perhaps no particular reason but that’s how art expresses from within.

    This Trussell character is trying hard to be funny; being disrespectful and cracking inane comments to Dr. Svoboda, who is obviously light years ahead of him in terms of knowledge and experience in metaphysical topics, isn't going to make him come anywhere close. Better to listen and know your place when you speak to someone much more learned than you. Dr. Svoboda's patience and his being gracious in suffering this fool is admirable.
