The best way to give every street kitten the love they deserve, is to give every family the affordable veterinary care they need. You really are getting to the heart of the problem. I'm getting ready to go to my vet tech certification so I can start working inside low cost s/n clinics and offer my labor for free. We cannot adopt our way out of this, we have to spay/neuter to a scale that hasn't been done before. Thank you!

@@andreae3519 thank you! I have done many volunteer roles in rescue and decided if I can leverage the resources I have to make the biggest impact possible that is the road I should take. It will take a couple year but... Pursue what is meaningful, not what is expediant!

We saved two kittens this summer, the mom unfortunately couldn't be socialized, but we did a TNR on her and the kittens were adopted. I'll do anything to help your cause.

I wish every city had affordable spay / neuter and vaccination clinics. Why isn't there a really good, solid nation-wide network to do this, and to connect no-kill shelters, adoption services, foster caregivers, and TNR groups? There are some fantastic committed grass-roots efforts out there, and several well-known UA-cam people for cats (and dogs). -- And a point: I'm handicapped (legally blind). budget and transportation are a big problem lately. During the pandemic, I tried any place I could, because I was fostering a stray mom cat and her five kittens. It was something like three months before I could get anyone (a local shelter) to take them to be adopted out. My vet? Local shelters? Small services or fosters? I was so glad when I finally got them to that shelter. -- Now, I have a forme-teen mom cat with kittens a little behind the growth curve, and I'm going to have a hard time getting them placed too. (The previous shelter changed policies, I guess dealing with the public was too risky then..) I would actually love to keep these kittens, but I can't; apartment two pet limit and I don't think my budget can handle the care needs long-term. They're wonderful, a real joy. So I will keep looking. -- My point: many folks, not just me, could truly benefit from teams who could pick up cats/kittens and get them adopted out. Or some can act as a foster home. Many people could benefit from transportation to/from a low-cost or free clinic for routine things like vaccinations, deworming / parasites / fleas / bacteria / eye goop / chlamydia, and spay and neuter services. If my vet would have done that, it would help tremendously (I asked, they won't pick up me and the cats and return, even for a paying customer). -- And I was glad when. a local TNR group came by to fix the outside cats, but they don't, can't do it all. I had hoped they could re-home two friendly strays. (They did TNR them, but no vaccinations or adopting them out.) -- Imagine if there were a network, cooperative, to spread the costs and work, provide care, do fostering.... It just feels like we ought to be able to do so much better. (And yeah, the fees for vaccinations and spay/neuter, not cheap.) -- I am going to be fostering these kittens at least two more weeks, maybe until 1/4 year old at 13 weeks. (Little mom cat is mine, rescued from the parking lot. Definitely keeping her.)
I just donated, and only wish it could have been more. It's a thought time to start your center but I'm so impressed with what you are doing. You're one of the channels that inspired me to foster and if I lived in New York, I'd be one of your volunteers! I'd like to encourage everyone who watches this channel to please give what you can!!!

I myself I would love to help donate. But I feed 22 cats outside of my home I got trap neuter and returned I have four cats in my own in the home I just now trapped a 7-week-old kitten that took me 5 hours and 45 minutes to get it trapped. I live on a fixed income and I have been asking people to help me I don't want the money to help me get food to send me food to send me cat litter to send me Friskies salmon pate dinner and the little cans I've asked for nine lives I've asked for help in this. And because I'm not into organization and I'm doing this on my own not too many people are willing or wanting to help. But they sure give me the pat on the back for doing what I do. But that does not feed these cats again I live on a fixed income and I pay rent renter's insurance utility bills and my own food. Again I would love to help some other organization out but I am myself struggling

You can become an organization by forming a non profit (unfortunately it costs a few hundred dollars, but then you get the benefits of the non profit' that is how Flatbush started out and it should pay for itself then. Keep up the good work - you are an angel!

Appreciate what you all are going through, but it's not just a Brooklyn problem, it's an every state problem. Thanks for trying to make the kitties lives better, and I'll try to see what I can do to help you.
I wish I could. We need this in Ohio, too. Having trouble even finding out who is tnr in our area. You'd think the apl would have more info, or the humane society. But, we just keep helping those we can...and pray they don't die on the highway. There has to be a better way! So many are tnr, as kittens...and it seems they're just released. When, all it takes is some time, with the kittens. This is just mho. I pray there's more information given to people. Fall is a good time to bring this message. Hopefully, people help make it better before the spring.
btw, we saw as many as we could through the winter. One survived. We took her in...she was not lopped, and we didn't know she had already been spayed until the vet put her under & found the tattoo. But, they were still just out on the street. There needs to be some organization to what ends up being madness. At least one found a home. We can't take all of them.

Your community outreach reminds me of the South African rescue group, Sidewalk Specials. Although the townships where they volunteer are impoverished beyond the imagination of most Americans. Sending help today!

I’ve been following Flatbush Cats since their beginning. This is exactly how I would run a rescue…TNR based but find homes for the adoptables and try to socialize as many kittens as possible. Please spay and neuter! Check for low cost and no cost spay/neuter options in your area. Check with your local rescue groups for info.
Also adopt in pairs! Make one of those kittens a black kitten, since they are the least adoptable.
Consider adopting an adult! There are so many adult cats that have lost their homes for various reasons. They often get overlooked because everyone wants to adopt kittens. Their are also adult bonded pairs that need new homes, and the transition will be best for them with their bonded partner!
If you cannot adopt, please help Flatbush make their dream come true with this amazing and highly needed clinic! Spay/Neuter should be included as basic vet care for all cats. Kittens can be fixed at 2 pounds.

Feral cats are also able to become wonderful family pets. Finding the right patient person. Mine was feral for approximately 6 years and is now a loving housecat. She never goes near the door. Kittens are easier but cats want love too. If they don't trust humans there's good reason and it will take extra time and a good person.

I love cats and I love what you do. I would love to donate to your channel and help in building the facility, but I am on a fixed income. I do watch the ads, I heard that they donate when people watch them. Keep doing what you do, because you are making a difference for at least the ones you do save.

I'm a recent cat lover (July of this year), never had the chance to have cats or people close to me who had them to even know the basic stuff about cats (I didn't know they don't need baths for example). I live in an apt complex where we have as of now 17 cats (11 of those kittens). I go out everyday once or twice or at three times to check on them and socialize. I've learned so much from this channel and some others and just googling stuff. I can't afford to feed them nor spay/neuter them at the moment but I will as soon as I'm able to, at least I will try the best I can within my possibilities. There's an organization luckily here in my country that does it at a really low cost so I just need the money. I plan to start with the cat I have complete trust with which is a female, not fully grown yet, she must be almost 2 years I'd guess and then go from there. She already ahd a kitten back in August but 2 weeks ago he disappeared and I haven't seen him since then. There are 2 males here (and more soon as the kittens grow up) so she will be giving birth to more soon unfortunately. I will try to start socializing with 3 kittens that the second cat I have trust with had, they are almost a month but it's been hard for me to get close because she's in an uncomfortable spot for me to reach in so I'm waiting and not forcing myself in for them maybe to come closer to me. My point is, I'm doing the best at the moment and I'm happy to see others thinking like me.

I had two really affectionate kitties in my area (an orange boi and a calico girl) but after spending a few days “bonding” with them, both were suddenly gone. I went to check for a few days after that, but neither was there anymore. I hope they’re taken in by responsible people… I just want them to be well :(
@@t-blade Oh I'm sorry to hear that as you can see I know how it feels. I can only hope nothing bad happened to them same as with Tigger in my case, ugh it still makes me sad not knowing what happened to him. However, I saw Cali (the calico cat I mentioned) and Chill (the alpha male of here) trying to mate today so it won't be long till we have more kittens from her, my wish is that is only one but I know that was a rare ocurrence for her first time so I don't count on it now. Depending on how many the count of cats here in my apt will be at 20 something... insane. I will try my best when I can to spay as many as I can and neuter too with Cali being the priority since I have the utmost confidence with her.
Set up a recurring monthly for your work. Keep up the great work. We all can't participate by fostering but we can send you a monthly push to keep this going. The way I see it, you have FOUR HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE THOUSAND SUBSCRIBERS. If every one of us sent you 5 bucks even just once you'd have the clinic. Subscribers? You up for a new clinic? Price of a latte on your way to work while you see all the scared dirty animals on your drive.

Two years ago I found and helped rescue an abandoned kitten that we named Juniper, and I instantly fell in love with her. She lives with my friend now and has three adopted siblings to play with, and I'm happy knowing that she's safe. I think about what could have happened had I not been there, and it breaks my heart knowing there are other cats who might not be as lucky as she was. I donated so that there can be more safe and happy cats like Juniper.
What a great idea! The SPCA in my home country of New Zealand has been running desexing services at cost for a number of years now. But every single year they are overwhelmed with abandoned and unwanted kittens, and puppies, especially after Christmas. The battle goes on. 😿🐶🐱

I found a scared kitten hiding under some stairs at my apartment and left him some food and caught him a few days later and he was so angry and terrified but thanks to your videos its 2 years later and he's extremely happy and loves to get pets
