and once you get into makeup, you could apply lashes and eyeshadows and it’ll look very striking.
You should learn to appreciate your nationality and physical ethnicity traits because they make you beautiful. Many people don’t realize this and get surgery to fit into western standards which are overused and similar to many areas in the world and very common, having something unique for people to recognize and admire you is something many people want to have.
You’re perfect and beautifully created. There is no mistake on a human being, people are all filled with imperfections, plus, there’s a study that reads you see yourself very different to how other people view you.
trust me, you will grow into your features and learn how to adapt and work with them to make you look better. Who decided double eyelids were better? Just because they’re common, there were many makeup products designed to fit into their shape hence making them become popular and desired, but you could look just as good with any eye shape, and eyeliners can highlight and decorate your eyes, cat eyes, a Smokey eye, an eyeliner wing, etc.

In Japan, a woman with white skin is considered more beautiful. That's why Japanese people try really hard not to get a tan. But that doesn't mean that dark skinned people aren't appreciated! It's just a different country, a different culture.
Its crazy, how different the beauty standarts can be in different countries. In my country I always feel outcast, because I have a really pale and white skin. Lithuanians loves a darker skin and goes to tan.
let's just face it, being dark in east and even southeast Asia isn't cool, go to any store there and they sell skin whitening bar soap in every store that sells soap

As a white blonde with blue eyes living in Japan, I've always had people grab my hair and just touch me awkwardly. The younger generation of Japanese people are so entranced with "western culture" that they don't realize how beautiful they are. What I'd give to have their gorgeous dark hair. ♥
A Japanese girl I dated when I was stationed there would pinch my lips together saying she wished she had my lips. Some times in the club I would have guys try to grope me and almost got into a fight with one guy, but was told by a friend that was with me from the base that they do that because they are interested in how we are built.

I'm super surprised that many Japanese girls think big noses are attractive. From what I've seen in America, everyone thinks small noses are cute, and often hate themselves for having big noses. Also long legs, I have long legs and always thought I looked weird for it, but I'm just now learning that it's seen in a bright light! Just goes to show how every feature is beautiful, and we should appreciate and love our own appearances :)
To be honest I think they just being nice for the video. You can kinda see how awkward they look in the video. Most Japanese doesn't like foreigners in general, that's just what I have learned staying over in Japan.

That's largely where it comes from in many Asian countries. Green and blue eyes are unique to them since everybody else has dark eyes. They look "pretty" to them.

duh??? japan isnt very diverse, most of them only see foreigners on the media and when they do, the media always portrays foreigners as the "white beautiful blonde girl." and second. having white / pale skin is rooted into our brains since we were young, we were told its desirable and beautiful by relatives etc. and trust me i wish this would change but its not as easy as it sounds because literally everywhere i go, my relatives or friends would comment on my skintone and im sure lots of people can relate to this too. ( most of asia were also colonized and i guess you can make out why asias so obsessed with white skin now. )

Stereotypes of black people have been very nasty, as they are with any other race, and because of racism in some medias, people from around the world have the wrong idea about us. yeah. its bc of the colorism in Asia. In the older times, darker skinned people were usually farmers that worked under the sun (which is why they were looked down upon). People with lighter, white skinned were usually like “higher class people” which is why people in Asia favor whiter skin more.

This was really strange, I feel like the things these Japanese people prefer about Western people are the things Western people prefer about Japanese people. I wonder if there is some sort of thing in our brains that when it sees someone whos appearance seems different to ourselves, we take interest in them. Either that or a funny coincidence.
Every countries beauty standards are stupid, yet the cry for pale skin goes way back for them. It’s like how westerners want to be tan and thick, meanwhile most asian countries desire skinny builds and white, pale skin. It’s life, man, no human can please anyone but themselves. We envy too much and appreciate so little about ourselves. Society, social media, and words helped develop today’s unfortunate insecurities. As a poc, I’d still go to Japan and find ways to enjoy myself for ME. Beauty standards are the least of my concerns.

I am not sure if wanting white skin is necessarily to do with them not liking Africans of Blacks. I grew up in an Asian country with no connection to Africa, hardly saw Africans growing up but the white skin that was mainly idolised is the white skin of jpop, kpop stars not that they wanted to look like white European. I think it has more to do with wanting what you don't have.

They are naturally quite pale compared to the rest of asia, but they still want a lot of routines to get perfect, white, flawless skin. It's a big ideal in china/korea/japan and some other countries there, it's natural to have a routine so that you'll get no tans, have flawless skin and such. It requires a bit of time, but I think koreans and chinese are even darker than japanese people are, and even if they are already quite pale, a routine is still important and ideal to get paler and have even skin. I do the same routine and i'm starting to get paler
megan marah I would say it Also comes from anime? The influense of the cute girls in anime (where they have white skin, most of the time) and so its concidered cute. In east-asian countries it seems to be a trend to look at Young as you can or even like a doll? Plus theres probably this idea that with the majority of japanese/chinese/korean etc have black hair and eyes, the Pale skin would accent that more? Make it look more porclain doll like.
This is just my guesses though... could Also be the old idea that only wealthy people have pale skin, because they domt have to be out in the sun and work. So they dont get a tan.
The second one is correct. All the pale girls in anime were a result of the second fact.
I'm pretty sure nobody today thinks pale skin=wealthy person, but because that idea once existed it eventually evolved into the beauty standard.
I know about their beauty standards and I know there are some darker asians but there are also ones with naturally pale skin. I just meant it seemed like they think white skin is exclusive to white people only or maybe they see their pale skin different from white pale skin. idk lol.

I was really nervous about going to japan to study (I’m going in about three years) because of my appearance. This video (while also making me more nervous) made me the smallest bit more confident. A lot of my (american) unattractive features (pale skin, and pointy nose mostly) are appreciated there so now I’m not as nervous about being made fun of. Thanks Cathy

JAJAJA, los asiáticos NO son blancos, por algo los blancos los denominan amarillos, otra cosa es que se súper cuiden del sol, se pongan mucho bloqueador, cremas, y la mayoría de sus productos son blanqueadores, solo te podría creer de un asiático naturalmente blanco y sin maquillaje que sea mix con alguien de raza blanca.

For example, Japan has sports and martial arts, anime, movies, music etc that are widely consumed in the West, therefore we appreciate their culture more. Maybe not the best way to put it but I think you get my point

I’m a female and I’m from America and always and I will always think that every Japanese woman is so beautiful, because a lot of them are nice and just sweet and not rude towards you. Also I think it’s really cool that some speak English, and it inspires me to try and speak Japanese

Many of them use makeup and skin bleaching to get their skin pale, generally Asian are naturally tanned, Asians come in all shades.
They are yellow. Here in Brazil se have four main colours: white, Black, pardo and yellow. Asians are yellow. It's that kind of what that It tou sunbath you are going tô be tan not red
one of the most common asian beauty standards that i always grew up with was having ridiculously pale skin and no blemishes. i’m super pale as a halfie, but i’ve been told my skin sometimes has a more yellowish tint when i’m tan lol
so at this point bcos so many people have commented about it, i think of myself as more yellow than white if that makes sense
there’s no word for “pale” in Japanese so, we use the word “白い(shiroi)” which translates to “white” but basically mean pale 🥰

So many people taking this personally. They're conservative, pressured to be thin. Being fair for them is a historical beauty standard based in their own culture. They tend to be small and quiet and most have similar colouring. So ofcourse some of them are going to envy being openly friendly, tall, different body types, different eye shades and pale skin, which btw isnt the same as being white. Why would you care if you're not these few girl's ideal enviable and misrepresented (and therefore unrealistic) visions. If anything it shows the stupidy that everyone wants what they dont have.
