Your recipes never disappoint. These were so good. I didn’t add the entire cup of sugar because my husband doesn’t like too sweet. They were perfect. The next time I make them however, I think I would like to bake them a little longer then I did this time. Thank you for sharing!!

You don't have to eat them daily just keep the recipe and make it in one special ocasion. It's not about to be on a diet it's about to change your nutricional régimen. That what most of Slim people use to do. Thinking like that it makes You gain the weight back.

Those sweet pineapple ones look so good! A friend of mine from work, who was from Ecuador, brought some sweet cheese empanadas to work one day that her mother had made. They were dusted lightly on top with sugar. The cheese inside was white and creamy, almost like a cream cheese danish except the cheese was a bit firmer. They were delicious! Have you never made them like that?
I can not wait to try this with peaches and mango but with store brought pie crust and in my air fryer ...I need to spend the least amount of time in the kitchen as possible LOL thank you for the guidance on how to make any variation of your recipes :)

I like making mine with shortening because it gives the empanada’s more of a brittle cookie texture which I love in contrast to the gooey filling but I did get a couple ideas from this video, gonna add vanilla and corn starch to my pineapple next time I make these
I was wondering that too. I just left a message asking if I could switch it to pumpkin without a thickener or just out of the can with spices. What do you think?

Hello. I tried your recipe. My dough came out just like how you made it. But when I made my empanadas they exploded in the oven. I made sure to seal them well. I dont know what I did wrong. But they were very tasty. My son in law loved them. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

We grew up with similar in Louisiana, but with Apple filling and usually fried. Sometimes with a sprinkle of powdered sugar when they are done. However, due to various dietary restrictions of family members over the years, many times I have opted to bake instead of fry and I also started making a peach filling. (Now, I will have to make pineapple!) I only use Mexican vanilla, since I got turned on to it many, many years ago, but with these I played with the flavor, trying almond extract etc. But my favorite no matter what fruit, was to use some Mexican Vanilla and Amaretto - yes, the real thing. (The alcohol will cook out of the Amaretto.) Usually I buy the Amaretto di Amore since I primarily use it in the pies, in a sauce on top of a New Orleans Bread Pudding (very rich, NO raisins!) and a few other baked goods.
I have never made the dough for empanadas, I cheat and buy the frozen dough discs , but will try making this dough, but was wondering if filling would work ok in the frozen ones ? These look & sound amazing. 😋
If I really make these I think I'll make some kind of Quark (some special German diary stuff) or cream cheese dip to go with it (probably with some coconut milk or syrup in it). I think that'll work very well together.

My mom would use apricot-pineapple jam when she would make these. So delicious!!
