    *Wookie 1:* Should we colonise a planet far away from the Trandosians, along a hidden hyperspace route, just in case?
    *Wookie 2:* Nah, the Republic has been stable for millennia. What could go wrong?

    Wookies were highly prized as slaves mainly because their species are naturally very strong, resilient and intelligent enough to operate complex machinery. During the Empire, many Wookies were taken off Kashyyyk and pressed into servitude, forced to work in the mines of Kessel or build the first Death Star. Chewbacca himself was almost condemned to a life of slavery sometime after the Clone Wars when he was captured by a Trandosian slaver, but he was able to break free and lead a successful slave revolt.

    If only Kashyyyk is one of those stable nature planets, like Dantooine and Ithor. Would have loved to make it the true capital of the galaxy, even as a simple government center and not as an overabundant population center.

      @@M4teo. Extra emphasis on "simple government center". Do remember that, in certain times of war, political leaders will have to be forced to move to almost unassuming villages due to the increased risk level of the capital cities. Kashyyyk is no exception.

      @bizmasterTheSlav Рік тому +1

      @@michaelandreipalon359 makes no sense, honestly. In all major real world wars, governments and leaders never abandoned their capitals even if the city was in great danger.

    • @jon6309
      @jon6309 Рік тому +1

      Well during the infancy stages of the New Republic, the forest moon of Endor temporarily served as the capital but after it established itself as an emerging galactic power the capital would be on a rotation schedule so each member worlds had the chance to be a capital. I’m sure Kashyyyk joined the New Republic.

    • @videocrowsnest5251
      @videocrowsnest5251 Рік тому

      @@bizmasterTheSlav That isn't correct. There are plenty of cases of this happening with governments in exile being things (during WW2 for example where many occupied nations had governments in exile set up in the UK), and what not. If all seems lost, leaders will abandon their national capital to flee to safer territories, or convene elsewhere. It's certainly a very dire situation, and shows that things have really hit the fan, as being forced to flee from their own nation's capital due to it just being too dangerous says the situation is very grim. This can beyond them not being partial to being forced at gunpoint to sign treaties, becoming prisoners, being killed, or otherwise falling into the hands of whoever invading them, to serve the point of living to fight another day/being able to potentially return to liberate their nation from occupational forces.
      Beyond that, VIP bunkers/often connected secret escape routes that work as contingency plans are still a thing to this day in many nations in case leaders need to get the heck out and dodge.

    Are the secret Wookie star maps that the Republic was after not canon yet? They need to bring those back. It would make Kashyyyk even more based with those Wookie star maps that detail a huge bypass known only to Wookie traders. Also they should recanonise more stuff from Star Wars Galaxies Kashyyyk because the locations are awesome, even if Legends Kashyyyk lore doesn't fit in with the Filoniverse at all.
    It is a shame that SWTOR doesn't involve Kashyyyk despite having Wookies and Trandoshans and they decided to go to Hoth of all places, which was lore-wise stupid because Hoth was supposed to have always been uninhabited by sentients as far as the Empire were aware, and I am pretty sure the Republic kept pretty good records of significant events like what happens on Hoth in SWTOR.

    The Wookies still were idiots who _nerfed themselves unnecessarily_ through outdated cultural baggage. A obvious example of this is they were forbidden to use their claws - a incredibly formidable weapon in close combat, that would mean each swipe could be a killing blow and they've have been whirlwinds of death.
    Individual Wookies could have been influential if they had bothered to exploit their inherent advantages as a species.
    They had very long lifespans and were intelligent and picked up many skills, a Wookie could be a Renaissance being - they were Ubermensch.
    Have a vox implant and wear a tactical kilt (with pockets) and vest, and move up the corporate ladder. Urbane Wookies could be in senior positions all over society.
    Office politics are very easy when you're a seven foot tall superstrong killing machine that still manages to look friendly and patable. A giant Wolfhound or Great Pyrenees as a person, except its Humans who have a dogs lifespan from the Wookies perspective.
    They could live in a wider range of climates than even humans, and do so comfortably and without need of heavy protective clothing.
    And their secret hyperspace routes meant that they could have completely dominated Interstellar freight and undercut all other competitors with Wookie only ships using shortcuts. Wookies were amazing as ships crew, they had the technical know how and they were their own forklifts - the reason they were so popular as slaves was not because they were easy to keep and safe, quite the opposite. They were incredibly dangerous but their abilities made it worthwhile.
    Wookies could have been everywhere calling the shots, and they could have colonised everywhere as well. That they didn't have backup planets is an oversight that at least the Lasats didn't make.
    Imagine if the Wookies took inspiration from the Chiss, and played to their strengths.
    Still a pragmatic neo-Wookie culture mighty finally spring after the shocks of the Clone Wars, slavery by the Empire, and the post Imperial and First Order periods. That all did occur within only a part of a individual Wookies lifespan, most of the species must be suffering PTSD.

    Great video, explaining why the wookie's and by extension their home world plays such a vital role in the stability of the republic by keeping a decent chunk of the inner rim intact, as well as strategically being a key hub of commerce and navigation and supply route for the armies of the republic as well as one of the ferocious loyalist world in the republic. Which is why the Empire's attempts to subjugate that loyalty, created one of the most staunchly supportive member of the rebellion from the getgo of its creation.
