Knit Picks sells "bare" yarn in single skeins and 10 packs. I think their big daily sales is coming up soon. I am NOT sponsored, just looking forward to their annual daily sales. 😉
I’m so excited to see what advents you ordered this year. I love the excitement, watching you open them every day. My favorite yarns have been from Polka Dot Creek. I think because they go to so many different Canadian dyers. So many beautiful colors and so much variety. Thanks for sharing, Kay.
Good job finishing so many socks! I had high intentions for the MAL but then gift knitting took over and I didn‘t finish any socks for myself in the last two months. So this week I‘m prioritizing finishing my pair of autumnal socks. 🍂(Obviously I chose gift knitting and it‘s bringing me joy too 😊).
I like the idea of having 2 full months of enjoying autumn/ Halloween and 2 full months of the holiday season 😊 I loved seeing all of the completed socks- it’s very motivating to see :))
I just finished working 6 days in a row and today is my 1 day off this week. I decided to continue working on my Halloween knitting until I have more than 1 day off in a row and then I'll start up on Christmas knitting. I can finish Halloween in January so it's ready to wear for next year. I'm feeling very focused to knit what comforts my soul over what I think needs to be finished. I'm also feeling the pull to be done with some of these projects.
I always love seeing your fo! They help keep me motivated! I’m working on a pair of Dosido socks right now…and I just cast on a Barbie dress for my great-niece Aspen! She’s all about the Barbie dolls now! 🤷🏻♀️ have a great rest of your week!
I'm so glad you mentioned that about sock blanks...I started on one and didn't like the look of the sock...so glad to know that the 'curly-ness' will go away. Just ordered one from Queen City...excited to see what they put together for me :)
Amazing how close you came to finishing all the socks! They are all gorgeous. I ordered my very first self striping advent sock set this year, so exciting!!!!
I totally relate to how you feel about your cardigan. I cast on a cardigan either last fall or 2021. I do not like working with the yarn. It’s 3/4 done but it brings me no joy. Right now I am making myself do two rows a day. That’s not how I want my knitting to be.
Another great sock episode,,,,love all UR Finishes,,,!!! Congrats to all the winners,,,, I so enjoyed the crazy spooky mal on ravelry,,,,the chats were the best and all the socks!!!so much h inspiration,,, Look forward to ur vlog ,,,, Started a Christmas colorway sock on Nov 1st and have some others to finish,,,!! ElaineXo Perfect day to watch ur podcast,,,Cold and snow in the air!!!🍁🍁🌨
❤ the polka dot creek advent socks, I am going to get next year! Funny, you turned me onto them even though I am Canadian, love them! And an Australian turned me onto the 24 stripe advent, which I will do for the 3rd year this year.
Your socks are so lovely, I just love them. I really like your sisters socks! Working 2 months on fall things and then 2 months on Christmas is just perfect! I am looking forward to your Vlogmas it was great last year, you do an excellent job with it. Looking forward to seeing your Christmas yarns.
I’m so glad you suggested a look back on last years vlogmas. I’m so excited to see this years advents. I’m starting to save now so I can get my favorites next year.
I am glad(?) to hear that an experienced knitter like you has issues understanding the Seasons sweater pattern also. I am finally almost done with the body and was hoping that the sleeves would be easy. It’s also a pain to move the project while knitting as it is heavy and you have to keep rearranging the stitches and the short needles. I’ve been tempted to buy the Old Navy ready made same design for $39.99!
When I first started knitting socks after "finding you", I would put my yarn in cloth grocery bags. Yuck. Not anymore! Project bags are way cute and so much fun and my whips deserve a happy place to live in. I must admit that many of my project bags have cute sheep on them.
I also knit for the joy of knitting. The end results are just desert. I am about to finish my second sock on a pair using your 9 inch circular pattern. The fit is so much better with the heel flap, heel turn and gusset, it is now the only way I want to knit socks. Thank you for a great pattern and perfect UA-cam tutorial.❤
I cannot wait to see what the Christmas Vacation advent looks like. I'm starting to save now so I can buy one in 2024. Just had too many expenses this year. And I haven't done any holiday shopping either, but I have some ideas. I saw a puzzle advent and my grands love to do puzzles, and I saw a puzzle advent, so I may go to Dollar Tree and create a puzzle advent for the family to work on. I did the math and it would be 40 pieces a day for a 1000 piece puzzle or 20 for a 500 piece puzzle. I've been told by my middle grandson numerous times that I didn't make them an Advent calendar last year. I was ill, so that didn't happen. He must have really enjoyed it, since he's only 8 and mentioned a calendar from when he was 6. Loved Fall of the House of Usher. It was crazy good. Insidious Red Door was really good, too. I watched all the Insidious movies this past weekend. Billy the Kid on Amazon is really good. Whiplash is on Netflix and it's very intense. Not a thriller, but very tense about music and pushing toward perfection.
Happy November! I enjoyed seeing all your completed socks and new yarns, they are beautiful! Yesterday, I found all my Christmas yarns and put them in basket, thanks for the idea:)
Love all of your socks. They are just beautiful. Amazing to see how many WIPs you have at any given time. To be “in it for the process” is a great way to think about knitting. It’s all about the enjoyment! Thanks for giving us all enjoyment.
I too am a process knitter. I knit for the shear joy and I applaud you on stepping back until the joy returns. I have recently had to step back from a cardigan I’m making because the pattern was just a pain for me. I set it aside for 4 days ( and knit a pair of socks) and now I can face it again with some pleasure instead of frustration
Those socks are just lovely! Socks are my favourite knit too so I love to see your makes and those colours are gorgeous! Not so keen on knitting from a sock blank as the wool is so crinkly but fun anyway!
Holy yarn chicken, Kay! That was close. I especially love the zebra socks. Can't wait to see your Christmas line up. I get what you mean about the cardigan. I just frogged a colorwork sweater that was 90% done because I didn't like the fit, but I'm ok with it. I'm going to re-knit it in a smaller size 🎉
I ordered the Polka Dot Creek advent for this year because of the one you showed last year. I got mine on Friday and OMG - it is so cute. I had forgotten about the bag 🙂 Can't wait!
Omg I am so glad as much as I liked the oversized cardigan i am so glad I didn’t buy that pattern since you are struggling with it I know I would have. I haven’t made nearly the sweaters you have.
Love the colors on the sock blank. I purchased 2 years ago. When I decided to use one, it was awful to knit with. The yarn was soooo kinky. I finished the socks and they are still crinkly. I took the second blank and put it on my niddynoddy then soaked it. It's still awful crinkly, so I think my problem is that they were in the sock blank for so long the crinkles are set in. Maybe unraveling blanks if you don't plan on using it right away, would help, I'm not sure. Love your socks you finished! Can't wait to see what you pull out for Christmas. I have no Christmas colored yarn so will enjoy seeing what you have. I feel you on the sweater. I'm making the ingrid slipover and struggled with one of the pattern sections. I eventually eliminated it and used a different pattern for that section. I was afraid I would break a needle it was so tight and I'm not a tight knitter. Years ago I started a cardigan and I really really struggled with the pattern. I couldn't understand the directions and could get no help from the gal who I was suppose to be knitting it with (she picked the pattern and was way ahead of me). I eventually just set it aside and didn't knit for a few years on anything. I felt defeated. Then a couple of years ago I started knitting again and picked it up. I threw the pattern away and used a different pattern to finish it, cause I was 3/4ths of the way through the cardigan. I love it and wear it when it gets cool here. So that might be an option for you. I've been doing a lot of frankensweaters.... lol
Such gorgeous/Halloween socks you've knit! I'm SO behind on everything this year. You mentioned being a process knitter and how your sweater isn't fun for you. I've been finding that I can't seem to land on something that gets me excited to pick it up and work on it. I think I've found something, cast it on, get started and a little ways in, nope....so a ripping out I go. Not even socks are doing it for me-Whaaaat??? I want to knit in the worst way but I don't know WHAT I want to knit. Good grief! Can't wait to see all your amazing Christmas yarns. I'm decorating very early since we're having Thanksgiving the weekend before the actual holiday since family will be in town then. That means decorating begins a week frim Saturday-I can see my husband's eyes rolling now! 😄
I totally get what you are saying about the sweater, I'm going through that with attempting the vanilla sock. I have had to re-do so many times I finally had to give it a rest cause it was stressing me out, I worked so hard and made sure I had everything needed then I got to the heel and it's just not working. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. But the heel looks wrong about 6 or 7 rows in so out it comes along with the rest of the sock that took me days to do.
I'm not sure which category I would fall into because sometimes I really enjoy the process of crocheting something, then there are other times when I just want the finished product.
Wow, your needles must have been smoking given how you powered through your Halloween socks! I think I'm going to keep going with the Halloween and Autumn yarns for a bit longer, I'm just having so much fun with them!On
I have been all about the socks lately as well. Trying to finish what I can before baby 3 gets here 😅 I too started an oversized seasons cardigan and that pattern has fought my brain every step of the way. Mine has been in time out now for about a month because I just cringe when I think about working on it. I know I will love the finished product, so eventually I will sit down and power through it, it just won't be any time soon 😂
Hello from Mounds, Illinois. I only knit two pair of Halloween socks, but knit four pairs of breast cancer pink socks now I am knitting a pair of socks for my granddaughter with my October Yarnable.
I also go the Polka-dot Creek Christmas Vacation Advent and am excited about opening it. The bag that came with the advent is so good, and will definitely be used for the holiday season every year.
Love the Advent striped socks. I’m having so much fun doing your vanilla socks on 9” circular needles. Thank you so much. Your sister’s socks are so cute.❤️❤️
Beautiful socks again!! I can't wait for my first 2 advents this year! one from a dyer and 1 that my boyfriend is putting together by himself, im so excited to see what he's picking out for me
Sorry you hit a snag with your sweater. I really enjoyed “Effortless Cardigan” by Zabeth. Easy knit, warm and over-sized. But you can play in your Christmas yarn now! 🎄
I am so looking forward to Vlogmas season. I love knitting on Christmas socks and watching holiday life 🥰 . You did amazing finishing ip your Halloween socks!!
I was so happy to finish Halloween knitting! It just seemed to be never-ending. November 1st I cast on a pair of gift socks with no Halloween or fall colors in them. Digging out Christmas bags and yarn. I'm so ready for them! 🎄🎄. I'm so l Ioving the wicked witch socks!!
Love all the socks…. And really appreciate the book recommendation. I am reading the Lisa Jewel and am finding it hard to follow. But that could just be me.

I don't know if I'm a process knitter or a project knitter. I just knit what tickles my fancy and if it's not looking right, frog it and start over. I do like to have the finished project too.

the perk of Canadian thanksgiving being in October is that Christmas decorations can go up anytime after that!
I'm Canadian but I wait until after November 11th.
I just celebrate Christmas November 1st on, and have a one-day break for Thanksgiving. I need two months of Christmas!
@@theknittingchick also Canadian here. It is sacrilegious to decorate before Nov 11th.
Amazing how close you came to finishing all the socks! They are all gorgeous. I ordered my very first self striping advent sock set this year, so exciting!!!!

Oh Wool2dye4! My daughter got me turned onto them. Love their yarn. I have sock blanks, minis, and skeins.
Nice Socks. Thanks for sharing the book recommendations. Happy Knitting!!!
Always love seeing your projects Kay! Thanks for another fun video! 🥰👏

All of the socks are so pretty! I just attended the last class of the sock knitting and I have to finish the heel of my first sock. Enjoy the day!
What lovely socks! - I know I say that every time but hey 👋- you make so many wonderful pairs! - fun to see all the color variations and fun changes.
Wow! What a lot of sock makes. Love them all ❤

November blog ..Can't wait. And love your socks. Happy Making!
The most beautiful sock knitting :) Thank you💗
I’m definitely a process knitter too. Sometimes I have to alternate a ‘difficult’ knit with more enjoyable ones, just to get through.
I too am a process knitter. I knit for the shear joy and I applaud you on stepping back until the joy returns. Sneak out those decorations to enjoy as long as possible!
I loved the MAL, and I love all of your socks! Those Winifred Sanderson colorway socks are the bomb!
Love all your work and the yarn

So fun to see your projects. I watched while knitting my son a pair of socks for Christmas. My first ever BIG GUY socks 😂😂
I ordered the Polka Dot Creek advent for this year because of the one you showed last year. I got mine on Friday and OMG - it is so cute. I had forgotten about the bag 🙂 Can't wait!
I’m so excited to see which yarns you pull out for your Christmas knitting!

So happy to see your videos pop up in my notifications! ❤

Love all the Halloween socks. I have never tried self striping yarn before. Fingers crossed I can soon.
I’ve started the sleeves on my Seasons cardigan, and it’s not too crazy. You can do it!
I understand the "process". I enjoy the journey.
I haven’t worked up the courage to try sock knitting yet. You make it look like so much fun.
You can do it! ❤️
LOVE the candy corn socks! So pretty! Can't wait to cast on a few christmas socks soon!
I love the socks you made for your sister! They are so cute!!!

Love all the Halloween socks, the colours are beautiful 👍😊🧶
You got SO CLOSE to finishing! That's amazing! 🙌
Oh my gosh those wicked witch ones :O Need to make those
I am so looking forward to Vlogmas season. I love knitting on Christmas socks and watching holiday life 🥰 . You did amazing finishing ip your Halloween socks!!

Christmas is my favorite holiday can’t wait to see your Christmas yarns
I’m so excited to start knitting for Christmas! I love the holiday colorways.
Wow! You finished strong - way to go!
I love listening to your videos and watching what you’re working on.
Love your finished socks. That sock blanket is gorgeous 😍
Love all the socks…. And really appreciate the book recommendation. I am reading the Lisa Jewel and am finding it hard to follow. But that could just be me.
Still thinking about getting an advent, obviously it will wait until next year. Love seeing all the projects you make with yours.
I got the Christmas Vacation advent too! I had to hide it so I don't pull it out and start opening it while I still have Christmas gifts to finish.
I adore those wicked witch socks, so awesome!
Strong work on the socks! Knowing you knit at the speed of light, I really thought you’d get them all done. Very impressive finish. 🧦
OK, that's it. I ordered my first sock blank! Thanks for the shipping coupon! Great episode 👏
Can't wait to see you festive yarn choices, I'm just about to start my 2023 Xmas sock with WYS sparkly yarn I bought earlier this year 😊
Another lovely episode well done on finishing your socks
Great episode. Loved all your Halloween socks and especially the gift socks for your sister.
I can't wait to watch you open that advent! Super cool!
I got the Polka-dot Creek Advent this year, it arrived a couple of days ago. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation starts playing in our house during Thanksgiving Dinner. It became a family tradition 20 or so years ago. And we say Grace pretty much the same way they do in the movie.
Your socks are so fun looking! Will definitely have to try stripes.
Hi Kay, I’m a process knitter also. I don’t do well with deadline knitting either. Love ALL your Halloween socks. Looking forward to seeing your winter and Christmas socks. Thank you for sharing 🧦🧶
Or mystery knit-a-longs for me. The stress.... cause I have to have one clue done before the next one shows up and I'm constantly second guessing my color choices.... to say nothing of the stress on my hands. Ugh.... I don't know if I'm a process knitter or a project knitter. I just knit what tickles my fancy and if it's not looking right, frog it and start over. I do like to have the finished project too.
Insidious series is one of my FAVORITE scary movie series
It's amazing how fast you are able to knit up these lovely socks!
Love the Christmas knits! I have already started them! The area 51 socks are a great colour!!
I know it’s only November but I’m so excited for your vlogmas!
Love all your beautiful socks !
I only got 2 socks started during October, for 2 different pairs. I'm thru the heel turn, so I did make progress, but I wish I'd gotten more done!
