    That was me driving the winged Miata who passed you and the corvette on the outside, I keep watching it over and over on video! Pleasure racing with a legend like you, it was the absolute coolest.

      I was impressed, and it's a good thing I did not try that Vette down the inside. Let's trade videos! You have a great Miata going there. I was sure it was my old friend Todd Buras, also a brave driver!

      Got some bug from my beloved family at Christmas. I blame my cute 3 yr old great-niece Kennedy. I had NO energy until I got in the car. Funny how that is. Or got on camera. Yeah, never had a beard before. But kinda want a Burt Reynolds moustache for the Randit '77 Trans Am project.

    Great video as always Randy. When you can it would be nice for us to know the spring rate that the cars are running on the coilovers. Thank you and enjoy the 2023 season

    • @randypobstofficial
      @randypobstofficial  Рік тому +2

      Hi, James, I'll ask the team. It's not a whole lot, I can tell ya that. I think it was a package from BC Coilovers, and the whole thing works very well, and has held up to lots of hours of hard racing, for low dallars. Impressive. NOT my car, it's Jack Goldey's, my good buddy.

    • @jamesinoregon1081
      @jamesinoregon1081 Рік тому +2

      @@randypobstofficial thank you. I realize that many car owners might not want to disclose their spring rates and that is okay. As you are able, if you can publish the spring rates it is a big help for all of us as suspension tuning can be a large challenge for track optimization

    My favorite type of video, as I've often said. I've watched your Corvette video several times. Hopefully you can find a more sturdy camera mount for the car.

    Well done and narrated. Bravo! A 2011+ 3.7 V6 would get it below the 3.9 threshold and add a 100hp. Although I am sure the ‘05 was not a lot of do re me.

      Its a costly endeavor to retrofit the 3.7.---starting with that platform instead is a better choice if I were to do it again. It was an originally built as a T4 SCCA car and actually won the run offs in 2010. I repurposed it for endurance racing. Thanks for great input. Jack

    What kind of modifications can you do to the engines on these cars while still being allowed to compete? I have this engine in my Ranger, and I've modified it with an underdrive pulley, electric fan (which I can see has also been done to this car), and headers. These engines are actually 210HP stock, and mine is a fair bit better than that. You can't get huge numbers out of these engines because they only want to rev to about 5500RPM, but the 260-270 range NA is pretty doable with the right mods and tuning.

    • @randypobstofficial
      @randypobstofficial  Рік тому +2

      No mods yet. The rules are quite strict in ChampCar. Youi can mod, but you get points added on a system that can give you penalty laps if you go over a certain level . The 4.0 V6 Mustang is a bad choice for winning a ChampCar class. It has a high point value and low power. Just the way the rules are. We did not pick the car for specific rules, just for fun in long races. Reliable and cheap to run. We run the EC division because one can do whatever one likes. We finished fifth in EC, very happy with that, because the other cars were all much faster. But we endured well.

    • @KevinCruz-pu2ue
      @KevinCruz-pu2ue Рік тому +1

      @@randypobstofficial I just took a look at the rules and I see what you mean. If I understand them correctly, that car gets 25 points to work with before it starts taking penalty laps, which means you can't do most suspension upgrades or more than one bolt-on according to the tech work sheet.
      Thanks for sharing this video with us, and for responding to my question, and congratulations on your 5th place finish. Pretty strong results from a 'secretary's car.'
