You made it despite not being able to hit anything, amazing :) One note; Adam said some time ago that Founding Stones only work on hit locations that has a critical on it.
Oh wow, I had no idea about the Founding Stone. I looked it up and sure enough, you're right. Here's what Poohs said, "Critical Wounds ONLY occur on hit locations with critical wound effects. If there is no critical wound effect, the location cannot be crit. In the case of a founding stone, that means the stone does NOTHING to such a location. " We'll play it correctly from now on, thanks!
@@PrattskiTheTabletopGamer No worries I think we all make mistakes in Kingdom Death. So many small subtle rules all over the place. I for one has made tons of errors playing KDM :)
Good show guys, as usual now. Stone columns are only good for breaking line of sight, so you can hide like a coward behind them. My wife tends to use this method, she also has less character deaths than me (so it could be a decent tactic).
With the stone columns, I just haven't found a good use for them, I suppose other than if a character is nearly dead and they go off to hide. Otherwise, I want my survivors burning down the wounds, and you can't do that while hiding.
@@PrattskiTheTabletopGamer it also stops knockback, which butcher does a lot. You'd take the collision but prevent being flown back too far. Kinda niche but something to keep in mind when positioning.
It might help to hide sometimes but against the Butcher you better avoid Lantern Hunger then! Otherwise he will teleport to your cozy place and give you a very gentle embrace.
Christ. This video makes this game look like the saddest, most hopeless endeavor. This game needs some kind of damn skill / management mechanisms to allow for sh*T dice rolling. Good lord.
The bleed stacks, so those final attacks would be Bleed 2....remember this is KDM so if there is a dispute it goes in the monsters favour. The Butcher is badass. How lucky were you guys to throw founding stone and get the only location it would actually work! You both seemed so calm on it! I would have been shouting and high fiving! The loot is crap for the difficulty level imo - what an ordeal!
Stuart - Actually, from Poots directly, Bleed does not stack! If something adds Bleed 1, but an attack already has Bleed 1, it's still only Bleed 1. You'll only take a Bleed 2 if something specifically says Bleed 2. When asked this same question regarding the Butcher's trophy ability, Poots responded with, "It’s already there, it does not turn Bleed 1 into Bleed 2." As for the founding stone, I'm pretty confident that we forgot that it would only do damage to a HL that is critable! That's probably why we were so calm about it.. At least we didn't play it wrong though!
Awesome! The game is hard enough without us interpreting things to our disadvantage! I think I might have wiped a few parties unnecessarily in the past...and now I have to start another campaign up to try it again....thanks for that clarity. Very much enjoying the play through guys, well done - moar KDM!
Yeah no problem! The Rule of Death can sometimes make the game even more unnecessarily difficult than it already is! Thanks for the feedback Stuart. And now that you'll bleed less, you should be able to make it to the Gold Smoke Knight and take him down easily! :)
I know I'm something like 15 months to late here, but you can't actually do damage with a thrown founding stone unless the location has a crit on it. Founding stones don't do damage on their own. Critical wounds do damage, and lantern 10s do damage, but if you throw a founding stone and it hits a location that does not have a crit, you have neither done a critical hit, nor rolled above the monsters toughness, thus no damage. This is in the faq I believe.
Always glad to hear another video from you guys. I wonder if the men from the settlement would have been as lovestruck if the twin who wears the skirt made out of dicks showed up. My group's last fight with the butcher would have been about medium difficulty in my opinion. All of our survivors were geared for melee, but mine in particular was ripping apart the butcher with his Zanbato & frenzy drink. How useful do you guys feel the bows were against the butcher?
I think the bows worked just fine. We got 1 of our 2 Claw Head Arrows to connect, which was good. Would have been even better if both hit. That makes the bows hit on a 5+, which would be amazing. Definitely helped staying back to not stay in his zone when those traps hit.
Doesn’t a trap card start with “cancel all hits...” so therefore the -1 evasion up front would be negated? I could easily be wrong but that’s how I’ve been playing it...
Ooooh.. That's a good question.. I'll have to google that or something. I guess the terminology does say cancel all hits, but at the same time, it had to hit (in a sense) in order to draw hit locations.. Good catch on this.. Need to try and figure that out.
I've been enjoying the series thus far. Keep it up! Quick question, do your monster mini's have a wash on them? I've been watching on mobile, and haven't had the clearest view.
Hi Alexander. Thanks for the feedback! Yes on the monsters. I primed them in grey, and used the Nuln Oil wash on them. Really happy with how they turned out.
Just for whoever is watching this late. This comment is incorrect. This is a nemesis encounter not a special encounter. Therefore, you do not go on a hunt this lantern year.
Wo that double kill before drop, was so anime))
Here in 2024 and the butcher flavor text reminds me of Radahn

That was some of the worst dice rolling ever! Kudos for not just starting over when you pulled a trap on the first hit.
Yeah.. it was horrible. Just glad we made it in the end. Thanks for the kudos - we aren't into cheating :)

Great episode. Cant wait to watch the next one.
I think you missed the one random terrain card right...?
Oh.. we probably did.. Too excited to go up against him I guess! There's a few terrain that would have been very helpful though... Dang.
you surely did :-)@@PrattskiTheTabletopGamer

Prattski The Tabletop Gamer Gotcha! That's what I thought. I've been meaning to do the same to mine, with maybe some drybrushing.
It is a little late to say this but you should not move on to the next lantern year.
you should go back to step 5 and do a normal hunt
