    Thank you, Paul, for making this video. I bought a Geeko Rear wheel kit and put it on my 11 year old diamondback mountain bike about 6 months ago, and have never been happier. The rear kit alone makes my existing bike a whole lot better. A few thoughts: The weight of the bike kits actually helps with my exercise, and is not bad to lift at all. I even have to bring it up and down 3 flights of stairs. I tend to actually get a lot more exercise with this ebike kit's pedal assist because I can freely ride up hills and ride at a faster pace than I normally would. I can also ride my bike when I'm less in shape and further than I normally could so it is a more consistent exercise and touring experience. One of my biggest headaches is riding up hills that wear me out and take a good bit of distance out of a ride that I would keep going; no problems there anymore. If I have to, I can use my throttle but I find that I use the pedal assist and throttle less as I get more in shape. It is also really nice to have the freedom to coast home with greater ease when you hit your limit, throttle or not, and I can ride farther or adjust how hard my ride is at any point I want, which is just great.
    I still get to ride my favorite bike, at any point I can turn off my pedal assist any other than the battery weight, it rides the same as it did before I got the kit, and it's just an incredible experience I hope more people get to try.
    I'm in the US. I tend to ride my bike for distance 20-30 miles on average with an occasional 40+ and recently bought the front motor to upgrade to the dual kit after I realized I wanted just a bit more battery range margin. The performance improvement with adding the front motor and second huge battery is also impressive. I'm just starting to test this part out. Everything you said in your videos on the Geeko is absolutely dead-on for me. Depending on what battery(MAX for me) and motor(start with the rear) you get, the battery life, performance, and range is completely worth it. For the rear kit only and 1 Max (black bottle) battery I got 21 miles riding it at top speed as a motor bike / throttle only - Level 5 setting which is really good. I did 30 miles on a Level 3 with a little bit of throttling on my way home, and still had 45% battery life. Riding it at a Level 2 - which is closest to my normal riding pace - I did 20 miles with 74% battery life left. I also did a Level 2 ride over 40 miles with over 24% battery left. This with hills and decent elevation both ways. I am assuming at a Level 1 pedal assist you can go a lot further and that 100G is giving a pretty accurate rating on the performance and battery life off of their website. Very few people are going to need the bigger battery. I cannot wait to see what the dual is going to do for me. If anyone is interested I will give you an update once I fully test the dual setup in comparison. I can already tell that having the second motor makes it ride a whole magnitude even better. So far it seems to be one of the best purchases I've ever made. I hope it holds up in the Texas heat this summer. If you are on the fence, these Geeko ebike kits really are worth a try. Thank you again for this video - It really helped me make the decision!

    Hi Paul, I have ordered a rear conversion kit two weeks ago, after getting introduced to the geeko kit by your comparaison video with the swytch kit.
    I am very glad that your comparaison video poped up. The geeko rear kit will give a second life to my former commuter bike, a triban 540 fb road bike.
    The simplicity and the elegance of the kit were determinant for my choice.

    Paul, you are a superb presenter, very clear and honest. My comment on the subject is this, for what it is worth. Both kits from Swytch and Geeko look terrible. Garden shed material, with all the ties, clamps etc. I went down the Switch route but after 7 months of no delivery I hit the eject button. Best move ever. I bought an e bike from Decathlon which looks superb and I now have suspension as a bonus. Battery life is just not an issue, fantastic. They have workshops with qualified technicians available NOW and are delighted to assist, you are never left waiting for a reply plus tons of spares if needed and I have needed nothing.COST: 999 Euros for the bike, serviced and ready to go, 6 months interest free cedit, it looks wonderful and purpose designed and built. All accesories are designed for my e - bike and get this : rear view mirror 8 euros ! paniers 29 euros ! , so cheap and looks a million dollars. As for my lovely old Saracen, I'v' kept it as an old friend and spare. Do what I did and end up with a good looking fantastic bike and a new friend. Keep the Heath - Robinson for fools.

      You had me at ‘superb presenter’ 😂
      No, really; thanks for the feedback and I agree with many of your comments.
      If you have the space and money for a second, dedicated e-bike then that sounds like an excellent choice! I have actually never ridden a dedicated e-bike, believe it or not, but I do love Decathlon and their products have never let me down.
      I would have to politely disagree about the conversion kits all looking terrible. The Swytch kit definitely looks odd and the Geeko dual kit is certainly busy but the Geeko rear wheel kit is very subtle and looks great. Fantastic that we have so many options nowadays!
      Thanks again for watching.

      @@PaulsViewsReviewsthe full e-bike is not something you can pedal without power. Riders don’t understand if you run out of battery you have a 60lb piece of metal. E-bike conversions are designed as “assisted” and why the batteries aren’t 48v with 1000-1500w motors. Let a full e-bike run out of juice and it will be a pricey Uber ride home. 😆

    Good video! TBH I was surprised that the price of 100G is so expensive in the UK. I got it for half price in China. maybe because of the goods tax or something like that.

      If laws allowed it, can't help but think that one more powerful rear motor would be better than two lower powered motors. Hills would be huge fun then, I'm sure!

  • @mk_ultrarunner
    @mk_ultrarunner 5 місяців тому

    What size battery is that? I printed off the size layout and the Mini is the only one that fits, but looks like yours takes up the room of both water bottle cages and you have a bigger frame. Ordering this to the US and not having the components fit or quit working would be costly as Geeko charges $260 to return anything (which has to be done in 7 days). Then you end up with nothing and out $300. It seems risky if it doesn’t work out. If it does, then look fun.

    Once again: the rear sensor is not a cadence sensor, I suppose, but a better solution: a torque sensor?

      It would be mighty wide! 😆
      I've actually taken the second battery and second motor off now, sticking with just a rear wheel motor - feels most natural and least intrusive when riding.

    Law: Being able to switch a motor off does not necessarily make it UK compliant…it is a similar argument to me using the 15,5 mph speed limiter on my 750w bike…the capability to exceed the law is still there in the bike…and that is what plod will be looking at!

    What do you mean "if you pull the throttle", I thought you said throttles are illegal in the UK unless on private land?

    • @PaulsViewsReviews
      @PaulsViewsReviews  Рік тому +2

      Just for those people who have private land to play on. Pretty much every delivery rider has a throttle powered motor, mind you, and the police don’t seem concerned. Looking at most Uber Eats rider’s bikes, they’re definitely not using 250W motors either!

    Hi Paul, Would you be able to purchase a second battery pack and link them together to increase the range and keep it legal in the uk?
    I also think that your presentation skills are too notch.

      Thanks for the feedback - I really appreciate it. Be sure to tell 100,000 of your closest friends!
      The app actually allows you to chose the driving wheel, be it just the front, just the back or both. Therefore, I would assume you could take the set up in the video and just swap the front wheel back to the regular wheel, leave the plug unattached and choose RWD in the app. This should give you the full capacity but last twice as long. You would likely still need to buy the dual conversion battery mount to make it work but seems perfectly feasible to me.
      If you ask the Geeko guys via their website, I am sure they would be happy to help. Thanks again for watching.

      He seems to overloaded the batteries and poped a seal in the housing, creating an entry for water. A least that is what the company wrote answering his comment on one of their videos.

    The Electric bike laws on 250w is useless as it's not even fast & struggles on steep hills & doesn't take into account with heavy riders
    Get a bike u can lift with 1 hand & can go over 20mph on flat no problem & still pedal up steep hills
