I honestly always hated Gears. Even back before I moved almost exclusively to PlayStation in 2009. I can see why people like the series, I just hated it.
Gears of war, Halo, and CoD 4 was the holy trinity of shooters at the time. No other game could match the gory goodness of the lancer, the euphoric sound of a head being stomped clean off a body, and a campaign that made you feel like an ultimate badass, Gears had the guts and glory to stand with those two games.
Personally I’d say that gears was the father of modern shooters at the time. The graphics wee also ahead of its time by far. Gears of war 3 pushed the Xbox 360 to its limits whilst also perfecting everything that it has. Multiplayer was at its most booming, horse was perfect and beast mode was a nice addition. There was no micro transactions for skins that I know of (apart from the flame skins you could buy codes for off of other people)
I'd argue that FEAR captured the feeling of being the ultimate badass quite well. You could turn enemies into red mist with the shotgun. Send them flying with grenades, nail them to walls with the penetrator gun and turn them into an electrified skeleton with the particle weapon.

The audio balancing was reversed, the game sound had the same volume as previous commentary portions, whilst commentary had the same volume as the previous game audio. This was undoubtedly a mistake, as the audio returns to normal in the next cut; Until it resumes at the next section at, 37:14.
I remember being like 11 playing this game. I can honestly say it helped me get into story based, mature themed games after growing up on GTA rampages and smash bros lol
This mostly got me to face my fears lol. Replaying it at 20 now, I appreciate the game even more and not really scared of something like the serapede anymore. But the Berserker still scared me. 😂😂

Story base games were always be the best and will always be the best even though they dont make great adventure/story based games anymore in a modern world of multiplayer online base shooter games. Being a new age gamer you follow whats trendy and missed out on greater games of yester year. It's sad really. I got gears when I didnt have a a high definition tv, I thought it looked great, then I got an HD tv, and I was blown away, I remember my mom walking by, and stopping; asking me what it was. Fantastic memory.

I gotta say I'm a little disappointed you're using the remaster for footage. It is more colorful and features flashier FX and lighting but I feel like it takes away from the inherent charm of the original presentation. The gray oppressive tone is meant to convey a world that's had it's life beauty and joy pushed into hiding by this war for survival. To me it's like giving Dark Souls neon colors... sure it'd be cool but it's not the vibe or vision originally intended. Also It seems to me the new cutscenes aren't utilizing the mockumentary "shaky cam" the original had which I believe was supposed to emulate an embedded war journalist film crew style to the presentation that's reflected in the roadie run. It also has several revisionist retcons, like the queen at the end. (and btw you don't remember Act V because they added the PC exclusive levels for Act V to the remaster.) The stylistic choices and sensibilities of the early 2000's game design and culture is a big part of the Gears experience to me and it seems strange that your channel uses VHS lines and "remember this" styling but you're playing the version of Gears that removes so much of the nostalgia triggers and early 2000's shameless cheesy grimdark edge.
im playing ultimate edition rn and thats the first thing i noticed. how much more brighter and colorful it was. the original right after the first berserker, outside was super gray and bland but in the UE it was much more colorful. overall im ok with it but it did take away from the horror feeling/aspect. still good nonetheless.
hmm indeed but when I first played this. the original not the remastered but I fell in love with gears of war and for years I got back into the saddle and beat it on insane difficulty and I'll tell you it was pretty awesome and nostalgic but when I look at this. this guy never played a true gears game before. and also I think I was lucky enough to play that mission in act V to fight that brumack that was a P.C port but but again I was lucky enough to experience it on the Xbox. heh I'll say it was crazy and cool. but again I agree Vennicerunnos sometimes these new players in this generation are blind but it's their preference in gaming but as a old gamer I'll still play the remastered so from one gear to another keep fighting the good fight heh fallout 3 line.
It wasn’t hard, when you hear the crack you step back immediately, and only step on the board a little, he just walked right in the center of the bad planks and fell. Also, the scene where the stranded dude falls into the pit and is mauled to death was pretty scary to me as a kid.

I was in the hospital in 2006 when this came out. I was 17 and had been there for a month and a half. I was lying in bed at around midnight and my nurse came in. It was a guy that I had never seen before that was about 55 to 60 years old. He asked if I liked Xbox 360 and I told him yes. He told me to try Gears of War. It was his favorite new game. I got out of the hospital a week later. After a few days at home, I got really sick again and had to go back. This time I took my Xbox and the next time my Mom ran errands, she brought me a copy of Gears. I loved it so much I read the books and comics. The Xbox made time pass a lot quicker. It is now over 17 years later, and I am now waiting for a transplant. I haven't played video games in a while, but I am thinking about buying an Xbox Series X. I had stopped buying consoles and games because I got into collecting books and guns. I have been rereading the Halo and Gears books and have really missed playing. Thanks for the great video.

For that scene where you're walking across planks over the wretches, there actually is a way to tell the right path. When you take a step on on a piece of wood, if it starts to shake then it will fall and you can step back quickly to avoid going down with it.
i downloaded ultimate edition when i got xbox one for christmas lol it was more fun than i remembered, but thats probably because im a lot older now and was able to notice a lot more stuff going on fundamentally
Act 5 might seem weird because in the original game you didn't have the whole brumak part and just started at the train station *EDIT* : The Brumak chapters were first added to the PC version and then remade in the Ultimate Edition

You’ll probably never see this but I can attest to this being an amazing game because it built a connection to the characters for me that was so strong that dom dying is the only time I’ve cried over a video game death. A phenomenal series

haha I was 7 yrs old when my older brother brought a 360 home and Gears with it. I used to watch him play clan matches until i traded my PS2 in days later with at least 50 games lol. I was a DEMON on gears 1 for a 7 yr old. Still my favourite game of all time.
Gears 1 is special to me. That and rainbow 6 Vegas were my main online games and Gears 1 til this day is the only pvp game that I would say that I was really good at. I got accused of using modded xbox constantly and I got tons of game invites as soon as I would cut my xbox on. Great times until so many glitchers took over with the crab walk or whatever it was called. That's when I moved on. The other 3 games just didnt have the magic for me personally but I really loved the horde mode in gears 3. Only mass effect 3 multiplayer tops that experience. I didnt get an xbox 1 but I hate to miss out on gears 4 even if it isnt as good as the old one. I dont know if it is or not I'm just saying. Btw I was the gnasher king.
The newer Gears gets a lot of hate because like any other franchise its not quite ass good as the OG but i personally still love it. And its a beautiful game. If your were truly the gnasher king you would flourish in the new one. The gnasher is more powerful than ever!

Gears of War came out in an era where you had only a couple of major AAA releases per year. This was a perfect environment for making the game as good as possible, so it would review well and sell to a garaunteed market. Nowadays, there is so many choices in games, and even so many choices in platforms, that you see the current climate of developing a game that will monetize a smaller player base for a lot more money.
gears of war was a marvel upon release. the only way i can describe it, it was like going from an xbox 360 to the xbox one. the art style, the tech it was built on, the gloomy mood (got you downright in a depressing mood). it was just fantastic. the multiplayer was fun (and even creepy, especially on dark maps) god it was a blast. i remember spending the whole summer playing nothing but gears multiplayer, when i was a pre teen, listenting to grown adults trash talk me and own me and just smiling the whole time LOL. it was right around when i finaly had good enough itnernet to enjoy online games to. it was a perfect storm that got me into online games.

Man, the Beserker fights in Gears 1 are so much better than in the followups. It adds a sense of terror and skill needing to bait the Beserker into an area you can use the Hammer on it, and only being able to use the Hammer. It felt like it cheapened the Beserker in the later games when you were able to heat it up with a flamethrower then shoot it.
6:14 I have totally disagree with you on that. Not all deaths are the players fault especially in the first one. Doms AI is atrocious! Just replayed the Ultimate Edition and that guy got killed 3 times during the Beserker bit, causing you to fail. Also when exploring he sometimes takes cover inside a door frame and trapped me inside a room. He also likes to walk in front of shots. Twice he killed me when he walked in front of my Boomer shots, oh I was near death and he killed me with a Torque Bow round that was stuck in him. Also he gets downed to much and I've died reviving him.
Just replayed this original Gears on the 360. Can say this review nails all the points of why this game was and still is a masterpiece. Well written and edited. 👏
The super special gamer pic you get for beating gears 1-3 on all difficulties is a good mention. You get some custom avatar stuff too. When i got the gamer pic that small token was worth so much to me. I have been counting down the days until the next gears game. Especially after the major cliffhanger at the end of 4.
the way the locust know where Delta is going, is when you see RAAM with the cog soldier he listens in on his helmet and hears through anya where they are going to capture the train and lower the bridge
The Beserker's first appearance made me shit myself... It's 2nd and 3rd later on made me shit AND piss myself... Horror isn't my cup of tea when it comes to games, but the terror I felt for that enemy was something I miss in the GOW universe.
Gears 1-3 will always be some of the best shooters I’ve ever played. Fun universe and addicting gameplay. The online gnashes battles gave you adrenaline that really wasn’t matched by anything
I remember playing gears of war on release, and my dad thought he was watching a movie at first. Gears was never one of my favorite series, but I love that it continues to exist and pump out releases. Ill keep playing them, even if only for the campaign
The fight with the Brumak was actually unique to the PC version for years until the release of Ultimate Edition for Windows 10 and Xbox One - which is why you didn't remember the sequence going into it.
dont remember the Brumak fight... is that just in the remastered version or did i completely forget??? EDIT: yes the version you played is totally different the queen isnt even in the ending, her monologue is but scourge is there instead.

There is a lot that can be said about this franchise starting with a determined obsession of IOI to stick to a grounded realistic tone to their immense cinephile background which, in most part, was a definining factor in how the series looked
Were there any differences in the PC version or ultimate version from the 360 version? I don't remember that Brumak fight in act 5. Also, I remember not being able to beat Raam on the highest difficulty level because Dom wouldn't last 5 seconds.
Thanks for finally fixing your lighting and audio dude. Gears of war was the game that made me want to upgrade to a 360 back in the day. The ad campaign for that game with the song "Mad World" is something that'll stick with me forever.
Didn’t they patch the gears campaign? If you haven’t played it since launch then they patched in some places they left out initially. I believe that is the case at least.
Just wanted to point out that the game asks for co-op in certain missions in order to make it more fun for two or more players, this also allows a more full experience

Gears of war was what got us an Xbox 360, remember seeing the Mad world advert for the first time and thought what was that !!! ever since then Gears has become part of life, have met some amazing people through the game and still this day talk and play with them still on Gears 4. We loved Gears so much we started our channel just to show and support the Gears of War community which at the most time is very salty and toxic but deep down we all love Gears. Our biggest highlight has been being recognised by Rod Furgesson himself and also getting to meet the guys from Coalition studios it's been an honour to represent Gears of War and we hope the franchise continues. If you're a Gears fan then 2019 is going to be an amazing year !!
My first Gears was Gears 2 and I have to say this is one of my favorite game series of all time. Made it through a 50 round horde mode with 1 friend over a summer and it’s one of my fondest gaming experiences
I think it was smart to take away the aiming reticle while blind firing . As it makes it more realistic . A lot of games give you pinpoint accuracy through a reticle when blind firing and it was very smart , not to do this . And I love the feeling of intensity that is felt throughout the game , especially when the enemy rushes you ! Gears is a great game and perhaps one of my favorite 3rd person shooter series ! I only hope we see this series grow more and more !
I remembered being too terrified to get pass the 1st Berserker encounter & had to get my Dad to play through the rest of the game with me on co-op. And this was before the 2nd game was announced.
Gears of war was one of my favorite franchises. It had a beginning, middle, and end with Gears 3 (the best gears of war). I lost interest with Gears 4. It was a blatant milk of the franchise and felt hallow and contradicted everything in the previous game.
Jonny B I put gears 3 above 2 because it improved a lot of the game mechanics. It was abysmal trying to find a multiplayer game in gears 2 and gears 3 made it soooooooo much faster to find a game. You’d be searching for 15 min just to find a game in gears 2 and god help you if the host left. I also liked the campaign better in gears 3. They recognized the problems with gears 2 and fixed them and improved upon them in gears 3.

Lewis Connor it contradicts the finale on gears 3 with what Marcus’ dad did. He killed off the locust horde, they’re all gone, dead, the war ended. Gears 4 is like “nahhh they didn’t really all die”

This game was what put me on the path of playing hardcore competitive shooters. I put so much time into learning how to play Gears of War 1 and I still love the franchise.
From the Mad World trailer, to the countless hours spent in Multiplayer, to running co-op multiple times, GOW1 was one of my most loved games I've played. I've spent so many hours online with friends I still have today running MP when I wasn't busy with college classes. Gears 2 began to lose me, and after that it was never really the same for me. As with Halo, I still enjoyed the storyline, but the MP lost appeal to me. Nostalgia kicks hard whenever I get to watch anything about games that came out around this time. I love it!
I remember getting Gears and was shocked how good it looked! These big chunky characters moving with weight slamming into cover and filling locust with lead! U felt like u were really hitting a creature made of flesh, I don't like the robots in Gears 4 btw, campaign I played Gears for but enjoyed horde in later games
I love Gears of War so much that I have lost count of how many times I have finished Gears of War 1, 2, 3 and Judgment, co-op or by myself. Gears of War 3 is still on my top 3 online games I played the most on XBox 360, lovely times
Also, I’d like to point out that this is the Remaster, several things are changed, mainly the cutscenes. The one that stuck out to mean was Queen Myra at the end teaser instead of Skorge.
Gears of war has aged well. Comparing it to heavy micro transaction games of today. I love jumping for an hour or two from time to time and just enjoying the original trilogy. No need for additional purchases or frustration behind an unnecessary pay wall
The original Gears of War on my elite white xbox 360 with a chrome disc tray was special. It was one of the darkest and mature games I'd played at the time. It was crazy fun and when you first fight the berserker with the hammer of dawn it scared the crap out of me.
32:24 the reason you don't remember that part of act 5 is because the original Xbox 360 release didn't have it. The Act 5 for the original 360 started with Comedy of Errors as it's 1st chapter. Impasse and the Brumak fight was added in for the PC version port only on GFWL later on. As we all know, GFWL didn't exactly work out. Ultimate Edition was built directly from the source code for the GFWL PC version of the game and ported to console. They also added the Queen in the last cutscene, the 1st game just had her voicover with what looked like RAAM's brother sitting atop the reaver with a scarf around his neck.
It's funny, the wretches attack scene in the hallway, which you said the Lancer was not the best choice, is actually the very much the best weapon there Because you can cheese the engine there because they have no projectile weapons. You just hold down B (rev Lancer chainsaw) and hold left. Hold B and left, you spin on the spot and the wretches just run into your chainsaw. They can't interrupt the chain saw sequence! They just stand there waiting their turn for evisceration! 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah same. Well technically my first game was viva piñata which came with the Xbox, but Gears of War was my first ‘proper’ Xbox 360 game.
I gotta say I'm a little disappointed you're using the remaster for footage. It is more colorful and features flashier FX and lighting but I feel like it takes away from the inherent charm of the original presentation.
The gray oppressive tone is meant to convey a world that's had it's life beauty and joy pushed into hiding by this war for survival. To me it's like giving Dark Souls neon colors... sure it'd be cool but it's not the vibe or vision originally intended. Also It seems to me the new cutscenes aren't utilizing the mockumentary "shaky cam" the original had which I believe was supposed to emulate an embedded war journalist film crew style to the presentation that's reflected in the roadie run. It also has several revisionist retcons, like the queen at the end. (and btw you don't remember Act V because they added the PC exclusive levels for Act V to the remaster.)
The stylistic choices and sensibilities of the early 2000's game design and culture is a big part of the Gears experience to me and it seems strange that your channel uses VHS lines and "remember this" styling but you're playing the version of Gears that removes so much of the nostalgia triggers and early 2000's shameless cheesy grimdark edge.

im playing ultimate edition rn and thats the first thing i noticed. how much more brighter and colorful it was. the original right after the first berserker, outside was super gray and bland but in the UE it was much more colorful. overall im ok with it but it did take away from the horror feeling/aspect. still good nonetheless.
hmm indeed but when I first played this. the original not the remastered but I fell in love with gears of war and for years I got back into the saddle and beat it on insane difficulty and I'll tell you it was pretty awesome and nostalgic but when I look at this. this guy never played a true gears game before.
and also I think I was lucky enough to play that mission in act V to fight that brumack that was a P.C port but but again I was lucky enough to experience it on the Xbox. heh I'll say it was crazy and cool.
but again I agree Vennicerunnos sometimes these new players in this generation are blind but it's their preference in gaming but as a old gamer I'll still play the remastered so from one gear to another keep fighting the good fight heh fallout 3 line.

It wasn’t hard, when you hear the crack you step back immediately, and only step on the board a little, he just walked right in the center of the bad planks and fell. Also, the scene where the stranded dude falls into the pit and is mauled to death was pretty scary to me as a kid.

It's crazy how I remember the levels after 13 years. That is the sign of a good game.
I was in the hospital in 2006 when this came out. I was 17 and had been there for a month and a half. I was lying in bed at around midnight and my nurse came in. It was a guy that I had never seen before that was about 55 to 60 years old. He asked if I liked Xbox 360 and I told him yes. He told me to try Gears of War. It was his favorite new game. I got out of the hospital a week later. After a few days at home, I got really sick again and had to go back. This time I took my Xbox and the next time my Mom ran errands, she brought me a copy of Gears. I loved it so much I read the books and comics. The Xbox made time pass a lot quicker. It is now over 17 years later, and I am now waiting for a transplant. I haven't played video games in a while, but I am thinking about buying an Xbox Series X. I had stopped buying consoles and games because I got into collecting books and guns. I have been rereading the Halo and Gears books and have really missed playing. Thanks for the great video.

For that scene where you're walking across planks over the wretches, there actually is a way to tell the right path. When you take a step on on a piece of wood, if it starts to shake then it will fall and you can step back quickly to avoid going down with it.
Literally just finished replaying the campaign for it 3 days ago. It still holds up to this day, fucking loved it all the way through
i downloaded ultimate edition when i got xbox one for christmas lol it was more fun than i remembered, but thats probably because im a lot older now and was able to notice a lot more stuff going on fundamentally

I remember when I first played this game back in 2006. The graphics blew my mind. In fact, it was my first time 360 game.

It may of been said but in Act 3 when you're walking over the weak wood, you have to listen for the distint cracking sound, and a slight vibration in your controller.

haha I was 7 yrs old when my older brother brought a 360 home and Gears with it. I used to watch him play clan matches until i traded my PS2 in days later with at least 50 games lol. I was a DEMON on gears 1 for a 7 yr old. Still my favourite game of all time.
Up so late grinding the multiplayer, getting those sniper headshots was satisfying.

I loved the sound of their heads popping. No other shooter I played felt as rewarding to hit a headshot except Resident evil 5 oddly enough.
Gears 1 is special to me. That and rainbow 6 Vegas were my main online games and Gears 1 til this day is the only pvp game that I would say that I was really good at. I got accused of using modded xbox constantly and I got tons of game invites as soon as I would cut my xbox on. Great times until so many glitchers took over with the crab walk or whatever it was called. That's when I moved on. The other 3 games just didnt have the magic for me personally but I really loved the horde mode in gears 3. Only mass effect 3 multiplayer tops that experience. I didnt get an xbox 1 but I hate to miss out on gears 4 even if it isnt as good as the old one. I dont know if it is or not I'm just saying. Btw I was the gnasher king.
The newer Gears gets a lot of hate because like any other franchise its not quite ass good as the OG but i personally still love it. And its a beautiful game. If your were truly the gnasher king you would flourish in the new one. The gnasher is more powerful than ever!

Gears of War came out in an era where you had only a couple of major AAA releases per year. This was a perfect environment for making the game as good as possible, so it would review well and sell to a garaunteed market.
Nowadays, there is so many choices in games, and even so many choices in platforms, that you see the current climate of developing a game that will monetize a smaller player base for a lot more money.
gears of war was a marvel upon release. the only way i can describe it, it was like going from an xbox 360 to the xbox one. the art style, the tech it was built on, the gloomy mood (got you downright in a depressing mood). it was just fantastic. the multiplayer was fun (and even creepy, especially on dark maps) god it was a blast. i remember spending the whole summer playing nothing but gears multiplayer, when i was a pre teen, listenting to grown adults trash talk me and own me and just smiling the whole time LOL. it was right around when i finaly had good enough itnernet to enjoy online games to. it was a perfect storm that got me into online games.
Yea when Gears first dropped on 360 was like the golden age of multiplayer. We used to talk so much shit back then almost too fun

Man, the Beserker fights in Gears 1 are so much better than in the followups. It adds a sense of terror and skill needing to bait the Beserker into an area you can use the Hammer on it, and only being able to use the Hammer. It felt like it cheapened the Beserker in the later games when you were able to heat it up with a flamethrower then shoot it.
6:14 I have totally disagree with you on that. Not all deaths are the players fault especially in the first one. Doms AI is atrocious! Just replayed the Ultimate Edition and that guy got killed 3 times during the Beserker bit, causing you to fail. Also when exploring he sometimes takes cover inside a door frame and trapped me inside a room. He also likes to walk in front of shots. Twice he killed me when he walked in front of my Boomer shots, oh I was near death and he killed me with a Torque Bow round that was stuck in him. Also he gets downed to much and I've died reviving him.
Just replayed this original Gears on the 360. Can say this review nails all the points of why this game was and still is a masterpiece. Well written and edited. 👏

The super special gamer pic you get for beating gears 1-3 on all difficulties is a good mention. You get some custom avatar stuff too. When i got the gamer pic that small token was worth so much to me. I have been counting down the days until the next gears game. Especially after the major cliffhanger at the end of 4.
the way the locust know where Delta is going, is when you see RAAM with the cog soldier he listens in on his helmet and hears through anya where they are going to capture the train and lower the bridge
The Beserker's first appearance made me shit myself... It's 2nd and 3rd later on made me shit AND piss myself... Horror isn't my cup of tea when it comes to games, but the terror I felt for that enemy was something I miss in the GOW universe.
The mechanic’s in this game was butter.
The way you moved, took cover threw grenades etc was amazing. There hasn’t been a game like this.

Gears 1-3 will always be some of the best shooters I’ve ever played. Fun universe and addicting gameplay. The online gnashes battles gave you adrenaline that really wasn’t matched by anything
I remember playing gears of war on release, and my dad thought he was watching a movie at first. Gears was never one of my favorite series, but I love that it continues to exist and pump out releases. Ill keep playing them, even if only for the campaign

The fight with the Brumak was actually unique to the PC version for years until the release of Ultimate Edition for Windows 10 and Xbox One - which is why you didn't remember the sequence going into it.
One thing I disagree with is showing Queen Myrrha at the end of the remaster. If you play them all in order, it takes away from the reveal in Gears 3

Could you do the same nostalgic type of video for Kane & Lynch series? There is a lot that can be said about this franchise starting with a determined obsession of IOI to stick to a grounded realistic tone to their immense cinephile background which, in most part, was a definining factor in how the series looked
Were there any differences in the PC version or ultimate version from the 360 version? I don't remember that Brumak fight in act 5. Also, I remember not being able to beat Raam on the highest difficulty level because Dom wouldn't last 5 seconds.

Gears of war was what got us an Xbox 360, remember seeing the Mad world advert for the first time and thought what was that !!! ever since then Gears has become part of life, have met some amazing people through the game and still this day talk and play with them still on Gears 4.
We loved Gears so much we started our channel just to show and support the Gears of War community which at the most time is very salty and toxic but deep down we all love Gears.
Our biggest highlight has been being recognised by Rod Furgesson himself and also getting to meet the guys from Coalition studios it's been an honour to represent Gears of War and we hope the franchise continues.

My first Gears was Gears 2 and I have to say this is one of my favorite game series of all time. Made it through a 50 round horde mode with 1 friend over a summer and it’s one of my fondest gaming experiences
I think it was smart to take away the aiming reticle while blind firing . As it makes it more realistic . A lot of games give you pinpoint accuracy through a reticle when blind firing and it was very smart , not to do this . And I love the feeling of intensity that is felt throughout the game , especially when the enemy rushes you ! Gears is a great game and perhaps one of my favorite 3rd person shooter series ! I only hope we see this series grow more and more !

I remembered being too terrified to get pass the 1st Berserker encounter & had to get my Dad to play through the rest of the game with me on co-op. And this was before the 2nd game was announced.

Gears of war was one of my favorite franchises. It had a beginning, middle, and end with Gears 3 (the best gears of war). I lost interest with Gears 4. It was a blatant milk of the franchise and felt hallow and contradicted everything in the previous game.
Jonny B I put gears 3 above 2 because it improved a lot of the game mechanics. It was abysmal trying to find a multiplayer game in gears 2 and gears 3 made it soooooooo much faster to find a game. You’d be searching for 15 min just to find a game in gears 2 and god help you if the host left. I also liked the campaign better in gears 3. They recognized the problems with gears 2 and fixed them and improved upon them in gears 3.

Lewis Connor it contradicts the finale on gears 3 with what Marcus’ dad did. He killed off the locust horde, they’re all gone, dead, the war ended. Gears 4 is like “nahhh they didn’t really all die”

From the Mad World trailer, to the countless hours spent in Multiplayer, to running co-op multiple times, GOW1 was one of my most loved games I've played. I've spent so many hours online with friends I still have today running MP when I wasn't busy with college classes. Gears 2 began to lose me, and after that it was never really the same for me. As with Halo, I still enjoyed the storyline, but the MP lost appeal to me. Nostalgia kicks hard whenever I get to watch anything about games that came out around this time. I love it!
I remember getting Gears and was shocked how good it looked! These big chunky characters moving with weight slamming into cover and filling locust with lead! U felt like u were really hitting a creature made of flesh, I don't like the robots in Gears 4 btw, campaign I played Gears for but enjoyed horde in later games

Also, I’d like to point out that this is the Remaster, several things are changed, mainly the cutscenes. The one that stuck out to mean was Queen Myra at the end teaser instead of Skorge.
Gears of war has aged well. Comparing it to heavy micro transaction games of today. I love jumping for an hour or two from time to time and just enjoying the original trilogy. No need for additional purchases or frustration behind an unnecessary pay wall

The original Gears of War on my elite white xbox 360 with a chrome disc tray was special. It was one of the darkest and mature games I'd played at the time. It was crazy fun and when you first fight the berserker with the hammer of dawn it scared the crap out of me.
Gears of War 2 has the best multiplayer. Played it consistently for about 6 years.

32:24 the reason you don't remember that part of act 5 is because the original Xbox 360 release didn't have it. The Act 5 for the original 360 started with Comedy of Errors as it's 1st chapter.
Impasse and the Brumak fight was added in for the PC version port only on GFWL later on.
As we all know, GFWL didn't exactly work out.
Ultimate Edition was built directly from the source code for the GFWL PC version of the game and ported to console.
They also added the Queen in the last cutscene, the 1st game just had her voicover with what looked like RAAM's brother sitting atop the reaver with a scarf around his neck.
It's funny, the wretches attack scene in the hallway, which you said the Lancer was not the best choice, is actually the very much the best weapon there
Because you can cheese the engine there because they have no projectile weapons.
You just hold down B (rev Lancer chainsaw) and hold left.
Hold B and left, you spin on the spot and the wretches just run into your chainsaw.
They can't interrupt the chain saw sequence!
They just stand there waiting their turn for evisceration! 🤣🤣🤣
