I think my movement is decent, but I want to see if there is something I haven't thought of. You may have mentioned this in your video, but i didn't watch it all the way through so i apologize
Fun fact! Hand structure and flexibility are mostly genetic. Even with daily stretching things like connected Ring and Pinky fingers may never go away. What this means is that some of us have to bind keys like crouch to the mouse or scroll wheel or we literally cannot move right while crouching. Many of us have "working" hands even after ten years of pc use. If you find it physically hard to follow these instructions maybe swap out a key binding. And test your flexibility.
Well yes and no. Unless you have a condition anyone can make their fingers stronger. Just like anyone without a disability can learn to play the guitar with all four fretting fingers. There are no muscles in the fingers, grip strength comes from muscles in the forearms. Grip strength training will boost ring and pinky finger strength. And while certain positions will give extra strain based on the shape and size of your hand you can always adjust your hand position to remove this factor. It's a pretty common gaming keyboard adjustment these days to swap the position of the Ctrl and Caps lock keys, since Caps lock is in an easier position to press. The ex-Apex pro Dizzy has a keyboard with a PCB set up this way. Similarly many modern keyboards have dip switches on the back that act as a toggle to swap the position of Ctrl and Caps Lock, like on Ducky boards. Or Further options are available and every key can be entirely swapped or rebound like on an Anne Pro 2. Even without that functionality a majority of modern games and a good number of old games allow Caps lock as a key bind anyway, so one can just bind crouch to Caps Lock in the normal Caps Lock position. But if none of these are suitable options rebinding to a thumb key is the next desirable step. The other most common setup for Crouch key bind is C, which was also common in older games where crouching was less frequent and it was convenient that C could intuitively stand for Crouch. Seagull is one of many players who uses C for crouch. This does require a slightly different hand position to what a person might use though, if your fingers are usually pretty flat on a keyboard you might struggle to hit C with the thumb without accidentally hitting the space bar too. It suits a hand position with more curled/arched fingers. Similar to C, the streamer Kabaji uses Alt as his crouch button, which requires moving the thumb further to the left, but since it's a bottom row key there isn't the issue of having to arc over the space bar like when pressing C. If all that fails the final option is binding to the mouse, which isn't desirable because any additional pressure on the mouse other than left click will throw off your aim to some degree. This is why most players prefer shift to Blink with Tracer over right click. The one notable exception is Saebyeolbe, who uses right click, but if you watch him play Tracer in slow motion you will notice that his aim wobbles every time he blinks, because he's having to squeeze down on the right mouse button and throws of the balance of his grip on the mouse. Same thing happens inevitably if you put Crouch on a mouse button. Bonus tangent: One curious Tracer bind for a pro is SoOn, who uses Q to blink, so he usually can't blink laterally left and typically only blinks forward, while adjusting the mouse. He has a high sensitivity (800dpi 9 sens) so relying on the mouse more for movement isn't cumbersome for him, and this approach hasn't stopped him from being frequently considered one of the best Tracers in the world. (Note since SoOn is French and plays with a French Azerty layout keyboard, technically his blink key is A, but that's the key in the equivalent position to Q on a Qwerty board).
Ctrl, standard keybind. If you don't want to learn to use your pinky some alternatives people use are the C (like Seagull) or Alt (Kabaji) keys with their thumb.
@@SuperLucasvideo it takes practice for sure. One other one that's considered easier is using caps lock for crouch. In fact because not all old games especially allowed caps lock as a key kind some gaming keyboards have the option to swap the position of caps lock and ctrl too. Curiously that position for both keys was common on old keyboards, like from the 80s for reasons completely unrelated to gaming, but now it's catching on with gamers again. Dizzy, the former pro Apex Legends player's custom keyboard even has ctrl and caps lock's positions swapped as standard, programmed directly onto the PCB.

The sad part of this he alludes to is how this is an abusable mechanic. You're trying to abuse the movement of the hitbox, head hitbox especially. You *should* do it, and it's not very hard, but done right it's obnoxious to aim at. So this quirk of Overwatch's design raises the skill gap of the game for the other player, the one shooting, not for you who's just mashing buttons in a pattern. It's not a skillful game mechanic. Surefour talked about this in his video on aiming in Overwatch, when because of this and related mechanics he described aiming with Widow as cancerous. And that's coming from a pro player with very high level aim. You can just move in a very sporadic, unnatural way in Overwatch because of how they made the movement mechanics and it makes it potentially very annoying to hit someone. If every player did this all the time it would be horrendous. But again, it's easy and horrible to aim at so for any character it's relevant too you objectively should do it to help you, it's a movement quirk It's advantageous to abuse. I think if they could do it all again the Overwatch devs would definitely have added some momentum to movement in Overwatch and would have had crouch spam reduced as a possibility. Crouch spam has been nerfed repeatedly, it was crazy at launch, you could do it many times faster. Could even bind crouch to a free spinning scroll wheel like on the G502 with just one finger flick to spin the wheel you'd be crouch spamming at a hundred miles an hour for 30 seconds with zero follow up input from the player. It was ridiculous.
@@naught_ no, low skill spam mechanics are a bad thing. This does not remotely increase the skill gap for shooting in a good way because it's impossible to track crouch spam skillfully, it's just shooting in the average position, getting lucky, or timing a shot based on a player having a predictable pattern of crouch spam. Skill gap should only ever be increased by things the player chooses to do. Doing something easy that doesn't raise the skill gap for you, but raises the skill gap for the opponent is bad design. For something to be that effective it should require skill to do. Skill based movement mechanics are good. Spam based movement is bad. Skill based movement allows for outplays, spam based movement is abuse of a game mechanic not intended to be this effective. That's factual. Ever watch the OWL Widow 1v1s? When it's extreme these professional players, some of the top Widow players in the world, miss shot after shot after shot for like 30 seconds at a time. It looks absurd. Stuff like this is part of the reason people from games like CS or even Siege sometimes think Overwatch looks stupid or gimmicky.
