I've only ever entered about eight free online photo contests (most are faff or overpopulated). But out of those eight separate contest entries I actually won one of them! I couldn't believe it. My prize was a full frame camera lens from a well known lens manafacturer. So it's definitely worth entering photo contests, but I very much agree that you have to be very selective about which contests are legit.
Good to know! Thank you. I might enter some photos in the Lens Culture black and white competition to get some feedback. It was actually the Life After Hiroshima story on their website that really showed me that it doesn't matter what camera you use. It would not have mattered one bit if those photos were taken with a Phase One camera or an advanced point and shoot because it does not change the story being told.
Great information, especially regarding the scam contests. Many students are targeted by these contests touting equipment etc. Of course the entrance fee is rarely below 40.00. No acknowledgement of results, nada, except a debit on your bank account.
Good advice. No bs and straightforward. Time is gold and we certsinly want use it wisely. Thank you.
