In a way you are right! But only in a way. Very curiously when we look with what, with what equipment, famous photographers work (or in the process of becoming one) , we see that they very often work with expensive equipment (of course they are exceptions). And all those who are intensely interested in photography (without being a pro) finally do the same! To take simple street photos, do you need a 15 000€ Leica? And to take Johnnie Walker brand bottles photos, do you have to do it with a 18 000€ Hasselblad ? They claim because of the exceptional quality of the lenses of these brands! Everyone seeks photographic satisfaction in their own way : many buy expensive things simply to afford a beautiful object that few have! Why does my neighbor buy Christian Dior shirts? Why does my cousin dream of a Bentley Sport? And my wife, why does she always want a Hermès bag and scarf? And why do I want the latest Nikon Z8 ? And finally why does the priest's wife wear Jean Patou perfume? Eh ? .... Life is so strange. 👽

Spot on mate. Great video !! After years of using FF system I "downgraded" from an FF camera to m43 system. For the same reason, cellphones weren't capable enough and the Fullframe camera + gear couldn't be carried easily on my newfound passion of Motorcycle touring. As a result, I'm traveling more and actually taking my gear along and shooting more. The best part is the viewers of my work can't tell the difference. These are all tools and it's upto you to decide which tool is right for you as per your needs.

In the modern tech-society, photography gear (just as anything else) seems to be 90% spec and 10% user skills. Get the latest and most high spec equipment and you will make success, right? Well if this was to be true everyone would be able to make a living on this. All tech is just killing the creative process. Who cares about if its a 18mm or a 50mm lens used, if the picture is really speaking to you? The pictures I admire the most are taken several decades ago, with very old and simple cameras (compared to todays standards). But the craft behind, is just creating a fantastic result. These men and women lived and breathed photography. A camera then was just a tool to capture something more valuable.

It's so easy for the need for "better" equipment to overtake the joy of actually taking photos. Glad that you're having more fun with photography now!

😀😀BRAVO!!! I totally Agree, Your Philosophy on the film Vs a Digital Camera is that your absolutely Right!! Today On my Birthday my friend treated me to go see the Ansel Adams Exhbit in San Francisco, as even that I work at a camera store for 33 years I so very Please to see his work again, and even that I am now 67 years today that I was so please that how Ansel Adams kept the Logic in talking a Photograph through in using a View Camera, and while I was looking at a photo of Georiga O'Keeffe & Orville Cox, as I overheard a person saying that he shot that with a Hasselblad, and I told the couple that it was shot with a 1937 35mm Contax RF camera, and that Hasselblad was not release til 1949, and then he gave me a look, and he said that I could that with a Digital Camera, and I look at him, and said while I went to the other photo, I said Rookie. As their are Still Photographers Wanna Be's that Thinks that they are a big shot.. For me I still have my Nikon F gear, and my D3 gear.
    Thank You for your video....🎞📸👌😀😀

So, it’s 8 minutes of talking about the same point which was made the first 10 seconds. Pretty pointless. Majority of camera gear buyers are hobbits with very limited skill and minimal interest in becoming pro photographers. They are the ones keep the camera company alive. They are the reason the UA-cam photography channel is a thing. UA-cam photography channel is all about gear review.
