    It's nice to see you guys covering more E-bikes. I would love to see you get a hold of the new Nanotech Graphene cells. They claim that they are fireproof cells and charge 18x faster.

      I learned a long time ago to ignore ALL new battery tech claims. You are being so gullible believing their BS. It’s one thing creating something in a lab. It’s totally different to bring something to market that is a superior value. By the time they come out with solid state, Li-Ion will have progressed in energy density, charge time, and cost so much so that solid state batteries will only be used in extremely limited applications. Maybe electric jets. They will be very expensive.

    For some reason when he mentioned it's a 9-speed and compared it to the 7 and 8 speeds that are common on the market, it made me think of Spinal Tap. "Our amps go up to 11!"

    • @jamesmcpherson3924
      @jamesmcpherson3924 5 місяців тому +1

      12 is pretty standard now. When 11-speed came out (campagnolo did it first) everyone was making that joke. 7-speed is terrible for these bikes, not because you need more gears but because it uses a freewheel that creates a longer moment arm on the rear axle. The difference between 8 and 9 is slight at this point. From a long term cost perspective, 8 is probably a sweet spot for most casual e-bike customers as it will have the greatest availability and lowest cost without durability issues.

    Bike mechanic here. There’s a lot of elements overlooked here including ignoring foot overlaps terrible suspension, would not function well, with the potential to create incredible unnecessary leverage on the chain, the cable routing is an after thought, sometimes dangerously so like the rear brake. We could get into frame design and the ridiculous fork specs but this, like most new e bike companies is a little vc money with zero experience. Bike components are a challenging eco-system where there’s such refinement that innovation needs to really be a game changer. It’s doable from a first principles approach, like de-integrating the expensive and cheap parts off wheels, or integrating hardliners into frame components. There’s a lot to come over from cars but everyone just makes unserviceable proprietary fancy paint jobs

      Very true. Those ebikes looks questionable at least,very cheap stuff at not so cheap money. My good that full suspension double crown looks like a pregnant whale from 2 miles away and suspension design seems something else hehehe.
      Used bike and ebike market is crazy now,tons of covid bikes around looking for some action and dealers full of last year bikes.
      I do not see this brand interesting,there are tons of cheap bikes brands already with far more mature product than this.Bike industry is very complex,crazy competitive and saturated of good and bad products.

    I would like to see the option to have internally geared hub with the mid-drive. I find with a mid drive internally geared hubs like Enviolo or Nexus and the belt drive really make a better ride plus saves the worry of chains breaking. All in all a mid drive paired with internally geared hubs makes for the best set up. At least for me.

    That Himiway Rambler (V2 or whatever it's name's going to finally be) really interests me. I feel that the full suspension in a commuter is a missed opportunity by so many e-bike manufacturers. Apparently very few designers have actually driven around cities in urban areas to see all the unevenness of sidewalks and roadways!

    • @jamesmcpherson3924
      @jamesmcpherson3924 5 місяців тому

      The line continues to get blurrier as the wear components are becoming more durable on mid drive, and the responsiveness of wheel drive is getting better. Integrating more expensive parts in to the rear wheel is a bit of an issue, but I bet that we will see the rim spokes and outer hub shell become their own distinct component from the hub motor, and rear wheel drive bikes will become much more prevalent, especially with some great re-gen braking options being developed that may spread to electric motorcycles because they are so unique. I found this particularly promising: ua-cam.com/video/ISIvfcoY4CQ/v-deo.html

    These bikes look promising. I will say to these guys what I've been saying forever and that is, stop being a glorified assembler and take the approach of Tesla. Rethink from the ground up and go vertically integrated. Until someone does that and drives the cost down by an order of magnitude, I will continue to sit on the sideline and will probably never purchase one of these bikes. My biggest gripe is the chain and derailleur. This is ridiculous. You need internal gears. At the very least, a belt drive with just 3 gears. That is all you should need. Nine gears is overkill. I know there is a challenge introducing the belt on a carbon fiber frame. Figure it out. You could use a titanium sleeve bolted on, but of course it would have to be a point of strength, not failure. That's why I like the idea of internal gears. Dynamic Bicycle used to have the tech. Not sure why they went out of business, but it wasn't because their bikes were junk. They just didn't catch on. Get rid of all hub drives and everything you wouldn't drive yourself. Just work on getting that $15K bike down to $1500 and you will have yourself a growing business. Until then, I'll pass.

      Laws need to change in order for this stuff to be used on scale. Currently, tech is growing faster than what laws can keep up with. Look at electric scooters and electric unicycles. The speeds on these can be as high as 45mph if not greater when looking at scooters. States like California are already trying to make these illegal.

    To put in perspective my 10ah 500w motor ebike gets 15-20 miles on throttle alone and up to 60 depending on how much you pedal. It was $500 on sale or $1200 like two years ago at full price. These guys are way behind the other companies...
