I love Peter Gabriel's solo career and all the music he has written, not only for himself and his fans, but his film work as well. But, I...just can't help but wonder what else he would have done musically with Genesis after "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway".
Probably not much. If you look at what 1974 was actually like for Genesis and Peter Gabriel at that time, it's a small miracle they stayed around to do music at all. They would've found themselves burning out really fast and then the Punk revolution would've wiped them out completely. They'd have just been a slightly less obscure prog rock casualty to the late 70s than the other prog bands that got wiped out by then.
@@MeteoXavier You're dead wrong about Genesis falling by the wayside with the rest of the prog bands. How do I know? Because no other Prog Bands had a charismatic lead singer with stage presence and moves that rivaled ANY other front man in Rock. Punk Rock would have killed them off??? That's LAUGHAUBLE Pahleeeze? He still had that early innocent sound...ultimately not overly excited by all his work especially the raspy vocals era of '86...just kinda of the same song...Lanois really is to blame
In my opinion when Sid was replaced by david, then larrys gone....they went to the 'Big Time" era.....I ran as a fan.....Tony still is the man in any of his forms....Genesis in its pure form....no phil or steve please... Bob Erzin did not put 100% in this production or promotion thats why it flopped in charts/U.S.
Genesis with Steve Hackett up to Seconds out (1977). Sidney & Steve Hunter were studio musicians, David Rhodes came in Peter Gabriel 3 (1980). He was a Genesis fan. I think you're right about Bob Ezrin 100%!...

My God! People just don't seem to have talent like this anymore.
Wonderful performance of a very underrated track. Absolutely brilliant.
underrated by whom? not by me : )

Ja bei Genesis, war Peter Gabriel der Hammer. Was für ein Hübscher, mit einer sagenhaften Stimme. Da habe ich ihn so sehr geliebt.
One of the great ballads of the latter 1970s.
Yet another timeless classic by such a musically talented and driving creative force. Long live the Music of Gabriel.
Sid Mac Guinness and Tony Lewin? LOL! Misnomers aside, this is a great find; I like this version of this hidden gem of a tune very much.
truly Amazing!!!!1st time seeing this...I've always loved this beautiful song!!
Cos of his cold he has a different voice. Like the best cover artist ever.
The rock voice I love most of all times! The second half with the Multimoog pads regulary put me into a state of bliss....
Absolutely gorgeous. A masterpiece.

Just wonderful.
A million years ahead with his colleagues of those time, i saw him in a show in 1979, domine of scenes, a true lion!
Capolavoro.
He needs to put out some new music...and tour by himself. I couldn't bring myself to see him share the stage with Sting.
