I met Janet Brown 16 years after this interview. We were both guests at a large wedding reception, fellow Scots in England, and neither of us knew too many other people. She was delightful, absolutely charming, very, very friendly and down to earth and we spent about an hour talking. I was struck by how intelligent she was, you can’t pull off impressions as well as she did unless you are clever and extremely observant of other people and interested in them. A lovely lady.
A brilliant and lovely lady. Haven’t laughed so much in ages. She was absolutely right about Margaret Thatcher; she never hesitated when she spoke - incredibly fluent.
Mrs Peter Butterworth. Miss Brown was pure genius. It is true that she was never cruel, and you enjoyed what she was doing. For me, she is one of the finest imperonators ever. I miss her very much. R. I. P, dear lady.
a "chiropodist"? wow, haven't heard of this term for a long time. In fact, the terms “chiropodist” and “chiropody”were respectively replaced by “podiatrist” and “podiatry” around the second half of the 20th century.
@ Well, every day is a school day. The term is in common use here although the more modern descriptions are widely used. Being an ancient and much venerated sage, I tend to use the vocabulary of my formative years.
Staggering to think Janet was a actually 3 years older than Mrs T. Great impersonation, nice to read below that Janet was a lovely person to meet/know.
Look up her pranking Joan Rivers (Johnny Carson set it up) in an LA airport where she had Joan convinced she was Margaret Thatcher and laid into Joan for being disrespectful about the Royal Family. It’s absolute comedy gold

I was a close neighbour of this lady for quite a few years. Delightful woman and, you may not know, a fully qualified chiropodist.

She was absolutely brilliant and looked great dressed like this
Janet was so talented,South Lanarkshire council should put up a statute of her on the main street in Rutherglen (where she came from).
Janet was absolutely fantastic. She's sadly missed.
Enjoy this moment there on the way out laughter will be a thing of the past❤
Brilliant
I remember her from back in the day. I was maybe too young or unworldly to really appreciate her ability fully but she was very good!
Love it
Hilarious 😂
Very astute lady
I always quite fancied Janet Brown.
Is Sue Pollard the mother of Vicki Pollard?
What’s blue and hangs from a cow?
Thatcher’s suit.
