Just a little history about this song and Architects.⬇⬇ On August 20, 2016, Architects' lead guitarist and primary songwriter Tom Searle passed away after a three-year battle with skin cancer (melanoma). This was the first song to be released by the band following the loss of their founding member. Drummer Dan Searle told Revolver that his brother had begun work on the track before his death, but was it was ultimately finished by his band mates posthumously. "Completing it for him was a massive responsibility," he said. Dan Searle's lyrics address the death of his brother viewing it as both the ending of their world, but also acknowledges it as a new beginning for the band.
This band is who got me into metal in the first place. This album is one of the most profound pieces of art I've ever listened to. RIP Tom, never forgotten. ❤
Thanks for taking my request! I'm happy you guys both enjoyed this as this band changed my perspective on life and this song introduced me to them. I know the band didn't resonate as much with you the first time you listened, so I wanted to present a more accessible song of theirs for you to really get a better view of how great this band is and how phenomenal their writing can be.
7:00 - Yea, the drummer was the one holding the crystal, and sitting in the circle for the video. He was essentially playing the role of his brother for the video. And your point about music being therapy is so true. It connects us in powerful ways, and part of the reason I hate AI generated stuff. Listening to Lorna Shore "Pain Remains", or Spiritbox "Constance", or Darko US "Donna"... these are powerful and deeply inspired songs that can help us heal through our own traumas, and sharing these moments with you, and other reaction channels helps us connect. Its a cool thing. Anyways, keep it up you guys. Fantastic video as always.
This was a very iconic song for them cause I think it got people into their band who hadn’t heard of them before. They’ve been around for a long time but something about this song really boosted their exposure. Same for “Animals” love these dudes. Sometime I request the collab Sam (the vocalist) did with Spiritbox.)
Royal Beggars (live version so good), Holy Hell, Modern Misery, Impermanence (live from Abbey Road), Giving Blood etc by them are some of my favorites. Overall prefer their old stuff, but some of the new stuff are also good.
Another band suggestion is Poets of the Fall. Finnish band. Probably best to start with ‘Carnival of Rust’. They also did a series of acoustic songs during Covid, some of which are just amazing to hear Marko’s amazing voice!
Thanks for another great reaction 🙌🏻 I know you guys have already checked out ‘Gone With The Wind’ but the live version from their doc with Dan’s speech is a must see for sure. It’s a great tribute and very moving. Thanks guys m.ua-cam.com/video/XqF0ZBEXGlk/v-deo.html
