Been playing bluegrass, and cowboy chords since I was 13. At 60 bought an electric guitar and some cheap pedals and now at 73 finally learned solo 1 of Sultans of Swing. Thanks for ur tutorials I'm loving the guitar more than ever, and having the best time ever !! ❤
@@weissmanuel1 Yeah, I’m a decent player, and knew this solo at my typical 80% or so, so this lesson helped me tighten it right up from decent to very good and tight.
I've watched quite a few vids on teaching Sultans of Swing, your style of teaching is superior to all others. You dont bable and take off talking like most. You play it, you show it and you move on. I'm a Bass player and haven't touched a guitar in years. You make me want to buy a guitar just so I can watch your vids and learn how to play sultans of swing Your style of teaching motivates me to go order a guitar right now.
Another great tutorial. I really like your clarity when you break down and explain each part . Theres no confusion , it’s just precise and instructional , and for me that makes the lesson feel achievable .Brilliant!!
Awesome, thank you for the feedback. This style seems to work for most people which is great. It's how I work 1 to 1 as well and I like to keep it conversational!
You are without a doubt the best guitar instructor I have ever seen on this internet. Your ability to show and explain every detail of the lesson is perfect. You have absolutely no room for improvement. Please keep yourself on the internet for thousands of guitar players like me that NEED someone like you that has the ability to instruct the way you do. You make guitar playing serious fun and exciting .
I'm 65 and you are teaching this old dog some new tricks. Love how to mute a bend on the way down with your strumming hand finger, little details like that really help, well helped me anyway. Thanks, Sped keep em coming!! ;)
Those little things that sink in and click are so important. That’s why I don’t rush over things, they do make a difference in clarity and delivery. Have fun Ken and thanks for watching!
@@SpedSpedding I was also having trouble with my bends on other licks, I suspect that I was inadvertently touching the string and muting my bends at times. My light bulb moment provided by Sped has me more in control of my bends now and sounding much better for it. and learning a new song to boot. Liked and Subbed Brother. 😉
Man... you are fantastic. Between Shut up and Play and your channel; I am actually going to learn this all the way through. It is a bucket list dream of mine. Thank you so much. You are such a great teacher and guitar player!
Amazing lesson...always loved this song and it was an ambition to learn it in full. Thanks for getting me half way there. Now i have to practise this solo a thousand times 😂...amazing lesson though. I just can't recommend this channel enough. Thanks Sped!
Best SoSw tutorial on the 'tube. Learned all the licks with your first video, now this solo. Working up to solo 2 next - yikes! But possible, thanks to your lessons. Your lessons are crisp and to the point, with just the right amount of witty humour. Thank-you Sped!
Thank you for this great clear and inspired lesson. Me a 67 Yr old beginner with small hands , did manage to follow your example a bit , best tutorial of this solo I have seen . Very happy .
Wow! Thank you so much, this is brilliant - Always wanted to play this lead but never found the time until now.. Just happened to fall on your broadcast... Happy i did.... Thanks once again
You're the best guitar Maestro that ever walk into my life. Thanks for your being unselfish in reaching out musician like me who are lost the motivation to continue because of difficult instructions of other teachers. You made it easy for us to learn in the luxury of our space and time to go ahead with our passion with confidence.
Even from France it works with froggies! Done correctly in two short hours, it was high to learn this piece. It was enough to fall on the right video with the guy who makes you want to really do it correctly. I but you did most of the work to make it easy. Bravo!
You are definitely absolutely totally da best guitarist and instructor I’ve ever run into all my life. Thank you for making my dream come true….. playing Mark, playing Sultan of Swings!!!!! ❤ Deeply appreciate it 🙏👍🏻👏🏻👊🏻❤️
Just started learning this last week, perfect timing Mr. Spedding. I was a kid when this song came out, now I'm a 58-year-old beginning guitar player. Love your videos.
Just incredible and no nonsense approach. I tried so many others to learn this solo and they are okay, but sometimes do too much noodeling. You are doing it smart, clear and precise and dont pfaff about, Love it
Great tutorial. I agree with the comment below about great clarity and precision which made the lesson a lot easier to pick up and learn. Keep up the good work.
You have sharp ear. I'm enjoying revisiting many of the songs I learned when I was young, many of which, were best guess efforts in the days of 8-tracks and LP's.
@@SpedSpedding Thanks, will watch, the problem is there are 60 million UA-cam guitar lessons you get started on one then another one pops up you think it might be good then your trying to drink all the water coming down from Niagara falls at once. I did enjoy your channel until I was led astray.
Thank you for this video. This song is (way) above my skill but your teaching is very clear and it’s coming along! Making progress in my overal playing because of this! Thanks again ❤
A. LOL. No, seriously, this was a great tutorial. I've always wanted to learn this lead part, and you broke it down, explained, and demonstrated how to do it brilliantly. I mean you explained it brilliantly, not that I can play it brilliantly. Not yet. But I can at least play it recognizably. That's a good start. Thank you very much! I liked and subscribed.
Haha thank you! Welcome to the team. 💪🏻😏 You’ll play it better in a day, a week, a month, a year etc. We’re always improving. Just give it time and have fun.

like this very much im getting to be a pentatonic guitarist for a while anyway , liking it a lot . DADGAD is an acoustic god send very easy to sound pro ... so is part 2 of sultans coming ..
Great video - clear and understandable. I already enjoy playing this solo but have picked up some useful tips, so have liked and subbed! PS I don't eat crisps!!
Good stuff Sped. Been working my ass off and haven't had time to check out some new tunes. Then wammo! Sultans solo. Sick! Wicked awesome lesson and funny as usual. Thanks bud. 😁👌

Awesome lesson, you have a great style which is engaging and easy to follow. I'm a fan of the dry humour as well 😎 I'm still fairly early in my guitar journey and this has so many great techniques in this solo. I think this will have to become one of my regular practice songs to get away from just practicing techniques without musical context. Thanks Sped. PS, my favourite crisps (chips in Australia) are crinkle cut chicken 😜
Struggling with last solo just on the picking hand with the fast arpeggio! Can only get it too a medium speed then any faster I totally lose it ahhh lol
