Maybe it's part of the hustle. An edge is an edge no matter how big or small. A change from what you're used to seeing on the table over an over for many years vs someone who's used to playing with those slight changes can be a tiny edge. Even if the slightest thing disorients someone in the slightest way...it's still an edge. In the 80's there used to be parts of the Boston Garden hardwood floor that were warped and in such bad conditions that the ball would bounce funny in certain areas. They kept it that way cause the Celtic players all knew where those spots were and how to play on them. Definitely appreciate you posting a loss as well. Not every game is going to be a win - even at the Master level. I still have trouble accepting it despite being on a 10 game losing streak with a regular opponent of mine.
@@sakuragi_hanamichi3263 well its a good PR move to show a loss, it makes her look "humble" this is all about politics and bs like that. she cant fully say shes a loser, she has to make it seem like she just made a mistake and thats life. however she got outplayed and will never be able to admit that. he outplayed her on the time clock, outplayed by baiting her to take pieces, just outplayed. she didnt even have the courage to play it out once she realized how bad she was losing.
I looked up the evaluation for this game move by move and at his first check she was at a -1 advantage, after a few moves he was +3 in advantage, but then at 8:05 the Rc3 move actually lost almost all of his advantage(+0.8) because she could have taken the pawn and he wouldn't have been able to attack with his pawn since it was pinned between the bottom rook and his king. But she moved her king so quickly after his rook move that she didn't see it and then his advantage went to +4.2 Her position got progressively worse and then the 8:30 move(Ng6) put him way ahead at a +7.2 and then of course her rook blunder at the end. It's really interesting to see that 2 highly skilled players still don't make the "perfect" move almost every time and that they are still prone to making mistakes even when they're in good position
When she did that last mistake, I was looking at the vulnerability of his king. She had a safe check on him with her knight which would have forced his move and she could have realistically taken piece(s) and the advantage. She seemed to interested in her rook instead. Rewind to @8:30. I saw that in real time too, not pausing or re-watching it. Granted, I might have lost before I made it that far.
I don't even speak your language but I know one thing. Pressure is pressure in any game. I'm a pool player and this is similar to the way one pocket goes with such a balance of offense and defense.

Paul’s physical physical gestures tells me he has seen it all. He can beat a master player without sleeping for 3 nights. U young lady have class and smarts.
Botez had a great position here. But you can tell that she lost the plot when she started to eat up time on the clock. As for Russian Paul, he played like a typical stronger player - coming out of the opening worse, arguably technically lost, and then just overpowers through counter play when the weaker player starts getting nervous.
I played this guy a couple years ago when I visited! It was right before Covid. He told me about how terrible communism is and told me I was a bad chess player and all my moves were random which they were. I've got a little better since then I'd love to come back and play him

@@AntonAdelson Funny, but yes. Chess is the only game officially allowed to play in russian prison. (Cards, backgammon etc. are forbidden, but are still played of course). But they play chess A LOT there. Criminals or not, alongside many other russians, some of them passed through soviet/russian youth chess education programms. It is very norman thing in russia. Many people study chess during their school years. And stop at recieving 2nd or 1st category rank, as it called in russia. 2nd is about 1800 elo, and 1st is about 2000. So the average level of chess played in russia is pretty solid. And it's no different in russian prisons. You cand find some crazy strong opponents there

@@soakedbearrd She blew it -- 8:05 easy tactic seeing how she moved her rook to b7 -- Rd1-RxP(c) weird she missed it. and e5 blunder pretty much..
I think at 5:50 she blew it, he was eyeing the left side of the board for a good 15 seconds before that and moving the pawn up gave him a good fork with the knight; I think she just overlooked it or forgot about it.

A great display of humility when you the video where you're not victorious.
Definitely appreciate you posting a loss as well. Not every game is going to be a win - even at the Master level. I still have trouble accepting it despite being on a 10 game losing streak with a regular opponent of mine.
Except that guy, he had a higher rating than her tho
What is so special about showing a loss idiots? As if she doesn't lose at all! She get her ass smacked a lot
@UCso7iIBtBvs9_2RyIH5jV3A nothing for a troll like you
It's ironic that this guy calls people who play a complex game like this idiots.
"Russian Paul" continues to show class after all these years.
But she moved her king so quickly after his rook move that she didn't see it and then his advantage went to +4.2
Her position got progressively worse and then the 8:30 move(Ng6) put him way ahead at a +7.2 and then of course her rook blunder at the end.
It's really interesting to see that 2 highly skilled players still don't make the "perfect" move almost every time and that they are still prone to making mistakes even when they're in good position
That's what we LOVE about chess
When she did that last mistake, I was looking at the vulnerability of his king. She had a safe check on him with her knight which would have forced his move and she could have realistically taken piece(s) and the advantage. She seemed to interested in her rook instead. Rewind to @8:30. I saw that in real time too, not pausing or re-watching it. Granted, I might have lost before I made it that far.
I don't even speak your language but I know one thing. Pressure is pressure in any game. I'm a pool player and this is similar to the way one pocket goes with such a balance of offense and defense.
Well, it was a 5 minute game, of course they can't find the strongest computer moves under these time conditions.
Am I the only one who feels she delibertately let herself loose at circa 2/3rd of the game and onwards
e4 surprised me. Bxf4 then surprised me even more. Even though I didn't see a clear plan forward, with no options for a Botez gambit I figured a black win was inevitable. I underestimated the Russian winter.
They always underestimate the Russian winter. And it is undefeated.

Hello Dr. Mike
Ok
How healthy is playing chess, Dr? 🤔
Dr Mike watches Botez?
Botez had a great position here. But you can tell that she lost the plot when she started to eat up time on the clock. As for Russian Paul, he played like a typical stronger player - coming out of the opening worse, arguably technically lost, and then just overpowers through counter play when the weaker player starts getting nervous.

Funny, but yes.
And stop at recieving 2nd or 1st
category rank, as it called in russia. 2nd is about 1800 elo, and 1st is about 2000.
So the average level of chess played in russia is pretty solid.

It’s interesting how he moves his pieces, like an actual attack, rather than just moving.
Yeah, I see backgammon masters\hustlers do that too.
It's a psychological attack. It stirs an emotion in the opponent and increases their chance of poor play if they aren't used to it. It makes you want to strike back rather than playing the position, and encourages needless trades.
