A fabulous tune and classic for its time. This brings back so many memories. Wow, the 90's were such a simpler era, with so much to look forward to. You only appreciate it when you look back at it now.
The power of internet. In a split second this song played in my mind, idk the title and then youtubed it, and viola! Your super early 90s childhood radio song.
This song was released in 1993, and it became a big hit. These ladies could sing too, great harmony. At the time the biggest Girl Groups were EN Vogue, TLC, and SWV.
I heard this song on the 80's station and couldn't get it out of my head for like two weeks, very catchy and fun. Ok not a "Whitney Houston" level talent but say what you want, even today, I have heard this song come on at the best clubs in South Beach or Ibiza and London and the place goes crazy and people dance!!!
Second of three videos for this song. The original video is the "spinny" one and came out in '91. This is the second video and it came out in '93, and then there's a third video which mashes the first two together (watch Johnna's hair go long/short/long/short), with any shot including Renée Veneziale left out of the mashup. (She left the group between the two releases of this track). This edit of the track is actually an edited down version of a re-edited club version by Hot Tracks, hence the reason the instrumental break is wedged between the first and second verse, instead of after the second verse and before a reprise of the bridge.
@ Agreed. MTV Classic shows the same videos over and over lately, kind of aggravating to watch. No wonder it's in the bottom 10 of the ratings for channels.
WOW...just wow...I have not heard this song in over 15 years. It takes me back to middle school when Casey Kasem used to do the countdown on the weekends. I think I last heard it there. The redhead is very cute! I wish they had more success cause their vocals are great..."looking no further ahead than today" is the best part (vocal wise).
Wow! The infamous fashion trend of wearing bib overalls with one side hanging down and not snapped over the shoulder!! I remember that very vividly!! 90s fashion was just...I can't even describe it!
@@curtisgrupe7490 Yes, I graduated from high school in 1991, and from college in 1996, so I was all about the fashion trends of the decade! Some of them, I look back and think, what was I thinking?!? Lol!
@@crocodile1313 Thank you! Well, my name is Jennifer, actually, and I grew up in Generation X, so I tried to be clever, and made my screen name Jen X, since I grew up during the BEST generation ever!! P.S. A little side note: I had a job working for a natural gas company, and our screen/login name for our computer was our initials. My initials back then, before I was married, was JLB. Since there was already another employee there who used the initials JLB, they made mine JXB. So, everyone I worked with started calling me Jen X! I liked it, and it just stuck with me after that!
They play this song at my job all the time and very time it comes on I ask many people what the name of it is and no one knows. I'm glad I found it. I love this song.
After it was a hit in the USA, the girls performed it outside the offices of LWT for UK TV. This didn't do much in the UK charts as far as I recall. I loved their version of One Thing Leads To Another which they performed on one of those Saturday morning TV shows
wow. i first heard this song as a child, and idk if i liked it, but hearing it now...brings back memories. makes me love it and see the brilliance in it.
The first time i heard this song was on the radio back in the early 90s. Don't know who sings it or the song title. it was stuck in my head until 2 or maybe 3 years later, it was the show "MMC" on the disney channel & FINALLY, AT LONG LAST found out. They performed but i remember as a trio. I think. Fast forward to 1996-98, They still played that song on radio stations. CLASSIC SONG!!! #ThrowbackThursday
@Sunshine1986Girl i agree 100% with you. i actually searched this song without success as if it was kylie's for some time before realizing it was perfomed by somebody else. lol + cheers
Oddly enough, I listened to a station that would play this song more in 2002 than it did when it was originally released. It's how I came to like the song years after it was released. It's cool to know that a video for it existed.
This song should have been a massive hit. It is a bit dated now, yes, but hook-wise, beat-wise, it's just plain fun. Th music business is cruel and it's too bad these girls didn't go to higher heights. A video from that era, yes, but the song still has enough punch to be contemporary. Loved it then, love it now.
xcountryflyer- I've got this single on CD, too! This is the first time I've seen the video, though. Great song!!! Guess what I'm cranking in the car today??!!
This song is so beautyful! I love her! Reminds me when i was 7 years old (i'm 24 now) and my neighbur or my older sister used to play it on stereo sound in the saturdays mornings...the 90's FUCKIN RULES!! PLEASE, BRING IT BACK!!
why does it feel like the early 90's was just yesterday, but then i see a video like this and it looks like it was 20 years ago?! because it was, i guess. so sad.... at 32, i'm finally old enough to know what my mom was talking about :P
5 out of 5 stars. Wonderful song. Bring back the 80s and early 90s please. This is real music, unlike the crap today. I agree, 2000s music is junk compared to 80s-early 90s.
You know what, one Indonesian entertainment news always use this song as the background, especially at the closing. I believe that the producer must be the big fan of this girl band. I love this video because I like the way one of them wear the baseball hat.
Ruth Ann is a commentator for the WWE; Johnna tried her hand at a solo career but it never went anywhere; Josselyne's a producer and agent, founding Josselyne Herman & Associates in New York City and Renee sang with different bands, like Fig, Delux and RnR. She also worked as a theater actress, She's a yoga teacher now.
Johnna had the looks (stunningly beautiful but unusual) and a great voice -- she should have been a huge star! More effort should have been put into her solo album.
This was a 90's version of an early 80's girl group called the Flirts, with a extra person. Expose was stuck in the middle during the late 80's and became the most successful.
i love the video and the song. it's quite simple by todays standards but it has a certiain appeal to it due to the combination pllus the lyrics are awesome and so true. That;s what love can do,...
It did hit #1 on the Radio/Records Pop chart--US pop radio did indeed play it a lot early '93--I think rather low singles (and consequently albums) sales made this only hit #18 on Billboard's HOT 100.
2 different videos for this song if I recall: This is the original one from the song's '91 release, then there's a second one from the '93 re-release....

This song is so original and interesting. I love it!
Kylie Minogue sounds exactly the same (Stock , Aitken & Waterman)
still after all these years....AWESOME!!!!
This got massive airplay in the 90's, it was (and still is) an awesome song!

Ryan Ryan, maybe like Duran Duran? Kidding!
Hey, bless you for listening to an "80's station." A fellow Gen X-er perhaps? My best to you.
Yet this song is from the 90s.
I love this song. It helped me to get over a broken heart.
@@Globalman43 it knocked off whitney houstons numb 1 song spot back then!

As someone who did CHR radio for most of the 90s, this, for my money, is easily the most underrated pop song of the era.
I love this song. I first heard it when my time in High School was ending. I still love this song years later.
