Amazing video of my city of birth... and now I'm living in California and remembering the sweet days of my childhood in Peshawar. Thanks for giving me a glimpse into my city.
A little bit of history lesson. Before the Karkhano market was established, there was a market in village Barra outside Peshawar that sold everything. In the 80s the Barra tribe and the government had a clash and that market was destroyed by the government. Then this Karkhano market was established as it was on the Grand Trunk Road on the way to Afghanistan. Karkhana means factory and Karkhano is the plural word so factories. This area was very industrial back then and then they started a market. When the guy took you to Board market, that area is knows as Board as the offices of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education is located there. That area had a lot of open land and one of the first Afghan refugee camp was established there. Now most of the market there is the one created by the refugees. I know you have visited and left Peshawar, but I wished I could've given you tips on places to see while you were there.
Big fan Peter. I m travel vlogger myself and you really changed my viewpoint towards Pakistan. I think Pakistan is must visit place and peoples are super friendly and yaah they offer everything free in Pakistan 😉. I m loving Pakistan.
Thanks for clarifying that holding hands is not homo in pakistan. BBC made this documentary a while ago ( How gay is Pakistan) and made such calim out of men holding hands are homosexual and its not really fair and is misleafing.
that documentry was made to highlight the abuse street children faced by truckers in Peshawar. Many children in third world countries face abuse including India, Philippines etc. Nothing to do with religion but evil sinister act of power over vulnerable people. Stop dragging Muslim and Islam into it!
Sorry Peter you were misinformed when the guy said you can't go beyond the bridge. Ever since last year when former Khyber tribal agency became a 'KP Merged-area district' foreigners with valid tourist visas can freely go till Khyber Pass (of the erstwhile FATA) Only a 5 miles area inside the border and certain restricted zones are barred. And you landed at the "Smuggler's Market" (Karkhano) it is no ordinary bazaar. Under an arrangement the government has allowed it to continue and looks the other way in return for some political gains/ influence in the tribal territory. Area beyond it till Khyber Pass is completely safe for travellers and tourists. Next time do make it to Khyber Pass as "no trip to Peshawar is complete without a trip to this most famous pass in the world"
Agree with you, after the merger it's safe as the government has control over that region. I have never visited Khyber Pass however my mother and maternal uncles have spent their entire childhood in Landi Kotal and they still have very great memories of that place. A couple of years ago i have only visited Jamroud for work purpose and i hope in near future i will visit Torkham Border. Peter should have visited historical places of Peshawar like Gorgathri, Kohati Church, Rehman Baba Tomb, Muhabat Khan Masjid, Qilla Balahisaar, Khyber Pass, Peshawar Museum, Sunehri Masjid, Islamia College Peshawar. Along with the People of Peshawar, these historical places need to be explored by the tourists in order to conclude the whole Peshawar trip.

5:25 men holding hands represents brotherhood and friendship. It is common to see in rural areas, not so much in the cities. Like in parts of European culture men touching their cheeks with the cheeks of other men is not seen as a homosexual act.

@@bokharys That is cool, thanks for the history lesson, it's helpful for the viewers of the video. Stay safe from Covid 19 and Happy Ramadan!

Thanks for clarifying that holding hands is not homo in pakistan. BBC made this documentary a while ago ( How gay is Pakistan) and made such calim out of men holding hands are homosexual and its not really fair and is misleafing.
Yea you are right I also saw that documentary.
Sadly, the BBC applied their Western construct on men holding hands which is common practice amongst friends throughout many parts of the world.
If holding hands is gay it must be really gay to kiss the cheeks of another man as done in Italy and France. BBC is a waste channel
They only do bachabazi
that documentry was made to highlight the abuse street children faced by truckers in Peshawar.

Da asi da shoda zwe d...khyber kho wos aman d
Yes FATA has merged with KPK. Peter has picked some misinformed guides on his trip to Pakistan.

Peter, it's quite amusing most of the time when there is some verbal interaction with those around you. Sometimes something gets lost in translation, and that contributes to the amusement for those of us who can understand exactly what is being said.
