I sooo wanted to extend this one. But since it's a very different style, and I don't know how it plays in-game, it took me MONTHS to figure this one out...And looking back now, I have no clue on how I came up with this loop. Or how I didn't before. But as it is, I'm quite pleased.

@@mikemule1964 I didn't even have a clue that the music was actually anybody since I wanted to get the hell out of Hypeon Goal BADLY.
The fact that the choir chants were there to calm the hidden Amygdala's on the buildings, and once the choir was silenced and the pale moon rose, the true horror of Yahagul emerged.
"When the Night Mistress shows her crimson essence, the true horror shall be revealed."
Vacuous Rom, probably. The spider hides all manner of things...
Bloodborne is creepier the harder you think about it..
I presumed the chants were to help facilitate entry to the Nightmare
Creepy details about this chant. If you are brought to hypogean gaol by a snatcher early on you can hear this chant getting louder as you get out of the jail and closer to the church. If you are wearing headphones you can always hear it more loudly through the speaker corresponding to the churches direction. When you come back later in the game the chanting is gone and corpses wearing clergy or cult-like robes can found. In other words, you are hearing the actual choir. Stop and think, what other areas in soulsborne games have a soundtrack besides bosses?
I knew the audio sounded weird. It sounded like it was in the building itself.
You forgot to mention that while underground, this chant sounds muffled and distant, but when you exit it on the open street, it becomes clearer and louder, and it also affected by reverberation effects where they are present. So yes, it essentially is an ambient sound rather than soundtrack.

I love how this music can either be strangely calming or utterly terrifying depending on the context. As I listen to it now, it gives me a strange sense of comfort, but it made me feel completely out of my depth while wandering through Yahar'gul.
Micolash and the School of Mensis are probably the closest thing Bloodborne has to a true "antagonist". Their single minded obsession to commune with the Great Ones leading to the Mensis Ritual thus pulling the Lecture Hall into the Nightmare realm, and if allowed to continue, perhaps the entire world.
There is a theory that Yharnam we walk in Bloodborne is a nightmare reflection of the real one, and i absolutely love it.
I think that this theory holds water. What I feel is that right from the start, the world we are in is somewhere on the scale between reality and *spoilers* Great Ones' Dreams which are, due to their cosmic power, no less real than the regular reality. And then we can only go deeper and deeper, further from reality and further into dream. The only 100% non-dream locations would then be at the very start, as you get a transfusion and at the end when you wake up.

But unlike many games this game has an amazing influence on the people playing it.
There's music, books and movies that have influenced people and there are games too.
But Bloodborne has a special place in my heart. Especially the Yaar'gul part. I never felt that threatened before in a video game. And not during any kind of movie... Horror or not.

This music hit me the most during my first playthrough AFTER I killed everything in the area. Still felt threatened, like something will come out and get me even that nothing is there anymore.

It's arguably scarier when they're all dead. At least when they're trying to kill you, you have some kind of company. Once they're gone, you're just alone with the haunting voices of the choir.
Best part is when they chant "MATER SANGUINE, REDEMPTIO RISA SE" (O Mother from the blood,
Redemption, having been laughed at,) this game must have a sequel
Actually, when you translate the lyrics of this song, it perfectly describes the dlc and the murdering of mother kos.

I love the loop extended to this song. I feel in love with it after hearing it for the first time during a play through for the Unseen Village.
I just used this for a walk into my Dark Heresy groups first major boss fight... it's just.. perfect

So Micolash and the Choir really went all in to communicate with the great ones? Like more than the rest of the church? And that’s how the nightmare was created?
It seems as though the ritual is being performed *as* you hear this piece. The doors are locked up with dead supplicants kneeling before them.
Later, the doors are open and the music has stopped - the ritual has been completed, and the One Reborn is ready to rock.
Also, in my first playthrough, I inferred that Micolash was busy with the ritual as well, but given that he's quite mummified, I imagine that their ritual occurred a while ago. That's the funny thing about Bloodborne - it plays so much with time that *everything* seems dreamlike. Did Micolash work this ritual just now? Did he work it decades ago? How long has Yharnam been in this particular night of the hunt?

Hanent played this game yet... Do we have any news on a Possible remaster on PS5? Really wanna try it but dont know if I should get aPS4 cheap or get a PS5if it has a remastered version comming
Hey buddy, there's no official remaster on the PS5 as of right now. You can play it on PS5 tho, Sony put it in their greatest hits list, so if you have a PS Plus subscription you can get Bloodborne and many others for no additional cost.
HOWEVER, people said that Bloodborne plays no different than on the PS4, even with that PS5 SSD. That was the one thing expected to be better, but it's still capped at 30 fps and 720, while other PS4 games do enjoy the SSD advantages. There's a youtuber by the name of Lance Mcdonald that made an unnoficial patch so Bloodborne hits 60 fps and 4k on PS5, you just need to know how to mod the console. He made a video about it some months ago if you check this channel.
TL;DR Bloodborne is in both consoles, but runs no different unless you patch a PS5 on the side, and there's no official remaster on sight
Also, PS5 scalpers out there, be careful if you go for that one
