- Hi! My name is Sofia Moilanen. I have moved up to the North of Sweden from my hometown Uppsala. It’s a new chapter of my life, and I´m looking forward to sharing (almost) everything with you. Today I'm sharing the very best highlights from Eurovision 2023, with Edward af Sillèn and Måns Zelmerlöw as commentators. Hope you enjoy the video!

"I don't know if it was the Finns' fault, but it certainly can't have helped" is sending me
Hahaha
As a german watching Eurovision is very fun because we have bets if we come in last or second to last 🇩🇪
Love to Sweden, your commentators were really entertaining 🇸🇪
Everyone always points to us in the United Kingdom for having the most iconic commentary but I think the Swedes do it just as well. In the way I know that many Irish & Australian fans seek out Graham on the BBC, I know a LOT of Norweigians, Danes & Finns who understand Swedish well enough often seek out Edward on SVT over their local transmission.
We laughed out loud when Edvard made that joke about Putin in the intro to Croatias song. "Only an idiot would not understand that they are singing about Putin, so maybe Putin will not get it." And the "Finnkampen"= fin swe competition. that they are referring to is a competition in athletics between Finland and Sweden that are held every year. Just so everyone get the reference.
4:09 context; måns is in the panel for sweden's version of masked singer
Thanks. I didn't know the reference. Still funny tho.
My favorite part that you didn't include was in the second semi-final when he roasted Romania during their introduction: "...Otherwise it will be a lot of lava, big feelings, and a girl who runs in and smears soot on him. Mhm. Watch out Loreen." Priceless XD
Haha that’s funny! Maybe I’ll do a semi finals commentary next year also🔥
@@sofiamoilanen Can’t you find a hobby instead? Knitting? ,p
@@frodehagen8690 I don’t know if more hobbies would make my life any easier, I have plenty as it is, but thanks for the heads up😂🧶
@@sofiamoilanenI'm so curious to hear how did they comment on our jury's 4 points to Cyprus instead of 12!
So fun to rewatch this, they really make eurovision so entertaining xD I also feel so happy seeing Loreen's reaction when the last points were revealed! I think she like most of Sweden really thought that Finland would be the winners, so when she realizes that she won it was a huge shock hahahaha. Also seeing her little happy jumps when walking to the stage hahahah
Yes, it’s harder to focus on what they say when you watch with your family who talks all the time😅, that’s why I also enjoy watching it again, without distractions😂
And yes I agree with you, and if you have seen all the interviews with her afterward, you can see her eyes sparkle of joy😍✨
I love these two. Especially the finland and Bob Marley line, made me laugh so hard 😂😂.
Yes, “but it could not have helped” haha, love that too
@@sofiamoilanen Agreed. I love Edward commentating on this, absolutely makes my day.
Thank you so much for this because it is so entertaining. Edward and Mans commentary is extremely great. Also I’ve never noticed before that Queen of Kings sounds super similar to Run To The Hills
Thank you for watching! Yes, that was a whole thing over here that their two songs sounded so familiar
@@sofiamoilanen both are great songs, and I have zero patience for those who accuse that Alessandra plagiarised Klara. Plagiarism in the music industry is mostly unintentional.
@@languist very true, sad to see lots of plagíarism-accusations being thrown at many artists this ESC season
@@Hectorien_ It's due to people being salty that cha cha cha didn't win, so they throw the word plagiarized around to make themselves feel better that Queen Loreen won.
i think run to the hills sounds similar to one other song I've listened a lot but can't remember the name
edit: now I remember one of the songs: ua-cam.com/video/SIDMfYxseAw/v-deo.html
But I think there is one in english that uses the exact same melody
I’m glad to see another country take the same approach of the UK with their commentary! Graham, Mel, Mans and Edward are all very funny in their roles
Also it’s lovely to see Man’s mention Mel when she made her appearance after their time working together on a few selection shows
Is Edward the same guy who said after Jendrik's performance 'he doesn't feel hate, how you feel is up to you".
Get Edward hosting next year he's hilarious.
Well he has been hosting ESC since 2009 already, except 2013 and 2016. Those years he was the main scriptwriter for the show instead, his most famous creation is probably the character Lynda Woodruff together with Sarah Dawn Finder
@@KittenCritters Lynda is brilliant but i think the interval act "Love Love Peace Peace" (which Edward wrote) is even more famous!
He won't be a presenter but it is 90% that he will write the script. Edward is probably the best ESC script writer ever, even moreso than the writers of the Liverpool show. It is very difficult to write in a second language and still be LOL hilarious, as we see with so many scripts at Eurovision where the jokes just don't fly off the page because they don't work once translated into English.
Amazing news. Edward af Sillén and Daniel Rhén, the scriptwriters for Eurovision 2016 will return as the scriptwriters for Eurovision 2024 in Malmö, Edward will be the director! 🇸🇪🎉
The part two we all needed
Love that, I will be back next year as well, you betcha😎
@@sofiamoilanen heck yeahh
4:10 "While the performance went on, Måns tried to guess who was under the dancer's masks".
He said that because Måns is one of the panelists of Sweden's Masked Singer.
YESSS THE SWEDISH GRAHAM NORTONS ARE BACK
YEEEAAHH👏🏽👏🏽
You mean the Graham Norton wannabes
I would rather watch paint dry..
@@frodehagen8690 *insert family guy cutaway*
@@frodehagen8690and yet you clicked and commented on the video? Seems like an odd choice. There are probably actually videos of paint drying on UA-cam that you could watch instead if you prefer 😊
This is super fun! I would so watch more of these when you'd make more with previous years as well :)
Thank you! Yes, they have done some terrific things back as well. Might look into that!
@@sofiamoilanenthere's loads of Best Of Graham Norton videos but yeah another vote for more Best Of Edward compilations. 😂
Kan kolla om det här 100 gånger! Blir 10000 gånger roligare när Edwards och Måns kommenterar❤️❤️
Tack vad kul att höra, kan bara instämma😍💕
4:24 them calling it ridiculous... THEY LITERALLY TIED IN 1991 AND IF IT WAS TODAY FRANCE WOULD HAVE WON BACK THEN...
THIS IS HILARIOUS I WANNA WATCH SWEDISH COMMENTARY FROM HERE ON IN
Of course Farah Abadi, the
“mom friend” of the entire population of Sweden, asks Loreen if she’s been to the bathroom. Of course she does.
12:37 I love the way that it's Måns, a _former winner_ who is saying this 🤣🤣🤣
Yes that makes it even more fun😂
5:58 Finland is Sweden's iceberg - (Fortunately, it turned out to be the opposite route), 😊
These guys' humor and upbeat demeanor are impeccable 😂
I know, they just say whatever’s on their mind. And yeah, this year Finland was titanic and Sweden the iceberg 😅
Remember: You can win Eurovision just by having sand from Biltema 😉
Hahaha yes indeed🚗
It has to be from the store in Skövde though, otherwise it won’t work 😉
@@gabrielfrisell22 yes skövde has their unique quality of sand 😉
Speaking of that sand, saw a comment where some was like ¨¨ since it was bought sand from bilteam is not real sand'' I was mate what are you on about it's not less of a sand if it is bought or not 🤣
Biltema- Sand and
Biltema- hotdogs. Winning concept.
Edward af Sillen is a comedic genius!
And pretty hot as well...
I wouldn't say a comedic "genius"
@@thegamer-12 I know I exaggerated.
He's a pretty damn good script writer, and also sort of handsome?
@@seriouspleasures i don't know. I mean i don't partically like him but yeah. But i guess i just don't like Eurovision in general
@@thegamer-12 Fair, enough! I just appreciate a good banter.
it's his native Brazilian blood ( he is adopted)
Great that you put this online with translation!
That was great fun! Thank you so much for translating 😊
Ohhh yes. Three Eurovision winners from SWE in the same video. (If you know what I mean)
Bonus: Four including that Herreys edit.
Haha yes!
I couldn’t resist adding the Herreys when Edward mentioned them😄
@@sofiamoilanen I had such a crush on Richard Herrey back then!
When I finally mer him working the late night shift in the Stockholm metro when we was going to the Magnus Uggla show at 'Börsen" and asked where the parking lot was ("if you just go outside, it's just to your right!'), I didn't feel a thing!
Bothering me when I was on Grindr. The nerve!
@@seriouspleasures If I'm not mistaken, Richard used to serve as an MP in the Swedish parliament, based on his tweets.
@@ariccua6101 not MP, but M 😊 MP is a completely different party on the left wing side.
Very funny video! Love from Sweden/Sverige!
13:53 I don't think any British people thought Mae would win. We got behind her but no one thought she would win.
Yup the shocker was when Sam Ryder won the jury vote and then came second. We were so used to being last or near the bottom it was a complete shock to going into the televote announced last.
I love how they celebrated at the end ❤
Hade varit jätte kul om du gjorde en sån här nästa år också!💕
DIDN’T EVEN WATCH YET BUT YES I NEEDED IT
Unironically, this is the first time I hear Mans speaking Swedish
Hahahah edward literally rosating all countries 😂😂😭😭😭😭😭❤
Great subtitles! Thank you!
Are you planning to subtitle the best of Edward's comments the semifinals too?
Som minor things that you can correct, if you want to, it's "Edgar" not "Edgard". "Soldier", not "solider". "Frankophiles" not "Frank and Fina". Loreen's nickname is "Lorpan" not "Norpan". The movie is "Dune" not "Dome". Sahara "desert" not "dessert".
Thank you very much! Not in the moment but we’ll see!☺️
Thank you! Sometimes my program doesn’t notice when there are spelling errors. I might add that later, unfortunately I can’t change the text that’s already there, but I can add subtitles from UA-cam to put over:)
In the semi final I laughed so hard when they said that Denmark was going right back to Hillerska 😭
me and my sister were raging so hard at em for commentating while the juries were telling us the results
My favorite part is from the semi final abou Polen.”I don’t want to use the N-word, but it smells nepotism.” I am not sure if he know what people think when you say ’N-word’.
Oh I missed that part, kind of funny because nepotism is not quite what people think of when they hear the N-word! Glad he said that instead, must have been part of the joke.
Edward af Sallén must be the next host for 2024 Eurovision edition
He is the script writer/director actually.
Same as in 2013 and 2016.
yeah but, he should be the host this year along with Petra Mede or Sarah Dawn Finer@@Tintelinus
Julia: tell me the secret, why are you so calm?
Loreen: 👁👄👁🍁
😂😂❤
😊 They have so much fun together
Indeed, I think Edward even wished for Måns as his commentary partner this year. It’s clear why😄
You are allowed to speak during the acts but never when Edward is speaking
2:52 this is... Calling me out in ways it shouldn't
Haha, sometimes that happen when you least expect it to😄
Somewhere, somehow, Edward must be feeling rather nervous as he might also produce and work on next year's show, because he won't be at the booth again.
Yes, I believe SVT bought in a different commentator last two hostings. It's not a massive issue I guess though as the show is hosted by big names in Sweden and most Swedes understand English well enough to get the humour.
@@jamesmt142 2013, it was Josefine Sundström, while 2016 had Lotta Bromé.
TUrns out he was indeed in the booth, as well as producing, and giving the Introduciton to the hosts, but that was probably pre-recorded.
13:52 it should be noted that nationalteatern is a swedish band and not “natural history” as it’s translated as :/
Oh my mistake! I don’t find the place it is translated wrong tho, your time weren’t right
@@sofiamoilanen It's at 12:50 ish.
@@petrograd4068 found it now, my mistake!
Thank you!
You’re welcome ☺️
Sorry Edward but Pastora finished 10th in 2012, not Parfeni.
the movie Edward talking about 9.17 is called Dune not Dome
Thanks so much for posting! That bit about the Finns sending reggae 😂
Is there a rough translation for what Lorpan (What Mans calleds Loreen) means? Or does it not really mean anything 😅
“Loppan” would be “the flee” which is what it sounds like to my Swedish ears. But it’s obviously just a weird attempt at a nickname.
"And if you knew that, you're probably not a heterosexual" pffft-
and this year's Petra comment about knowing all the lyrics. Edward certainly has no problem roasting his fellow gays .. .and we are all here for it!🥰
No way You'll Never Walk Alone got subtitled as Sweet Caroline at 17:06 😂😭
I don’t know what happened haha, at least it’s corrected with the UA-cam subtitles now!
Watching this video I can say that I am super proud of the commentators from my country. They limit themselves to talking about the singer's musical career or the meaning of the song that he will interpret. I find the supposedly funny comments made in other countries that despise the songs and the work of the performers disgusting. Unfortunately.
what i had hoped that you’ll put in that shady bit to Måns about Eleni Foureira hahaha! XD
Oh I must have missed that completely, when did he talk about her?
@@sofiamoilanen during the Cyprus postcard
What did he say?
@@saravision04he mentioned that Cyprus got their best result when Måns “friend” Eleni Foureira got second place with fuego (just google eleni and måns together u’ll understand haha)

Bra för dig! Svenska är stor:)
Minute 7:43 why is there no comment from Mans and Edward on Italy?
I’m sorry! From what I remember, they didn’t say something extraordinary so I didn’t add Italy😔

Det sorligaste med att Sverige vinner är att Edward mest sannolikt inte kommer att kommentera i år då han kommer foka på manuset till finalen. Han gjorde just det 2013 och 2016.
Edit: Nevermind!
17:13 "John Cleese ?"
No. Edgar Allan Poe.

Me: nah not really
ohh please don't show that lame run to the hills right next to queen of kings :D
But you do know that Alessandra is being accused for plagiarising that exact song. If its lame then why did Alessandras song sound almost the same?
@@stellakr75 It doesn't sound almost the same at all. In fact Run to the Hills is much closer to an older Alan Walker song and some other song (both came before her song), than Queen of Kings' small similarities to Run to the Hills. Tattoo is also being accused of plagiarism, pretty much any successful song is accused of that.... I work as a music producer and know very well when a song is plagiarized and when it is just inspired (or simply use the same beat, chords etc, which is completely normal). Lastly, Klara sounds good in the studio, but she pretty much sucked singing live. Night and day difference in vocal abilities.
I immediately thought of "run to the hills" when I heard Alexandra's song. Same vibe. But that doesn't mean it's plagued. There are more songs with that beat and vibe. And I’m sure “Run to the hills”was not the first
My god, how cocky are those Swedish presenters!
It is too much Sweden, even in the intermission. A lot of people like ESC, but Sweden seems to think the madness is the same in all countries. I could feel the bile creeping up the back of my throat when that Sill-guy made the comment about Norways song. Oh, the finnish entry was so much better. And he didn’t roll around on the floor, or in the water.. Go figure.. 😂
Yes! We think that we are so normal here, it’s when we look into other country’s and hear them we realize that, we are an exception😅
Cause it is taken from Swedish TV?
@@Denis-89 No, I am talking about the final..
@@frodehagen8690 its still clips from Swedish TV. Of course it will focus on Sweden. And what was so Swedish in final according to you?
@@Denis-89 For starters, they always have something with Måns, and in the intermission the woman from last year splashing around in the water. And yes, I understand that, but they were patronizing, not funny. But that is the swedish way maybe? If I were you (-which, thank God I’m not) I would start a campain so that you can give the first price to Finland. ;p
The worst winner of the last 10 years. Finland was robbed by the juries. The world public gave FINLAND its real victory. What a sad victory Sweden. Everybody could see that everybody wanted Kaarija to win. What a shame ...

What they are hilarious 😂
They're self deprecating too, it may not be as clear this time around, but early on Måns described his career as "struggling but making ends meet" or something like that.
