I've got the older model (no vertical stuff) and it works for me .... just start it a go do something else while it does it's thing and shuts off when it's done.
I have had mine for 22 years. I did modify it by taking a old four wheel engine stand and mounting it on top. Those flimsy sheet metal legs was the weak link. Mine did not come with the table top. Had to make one out of a chunk.of aluminum plate. I have never changed the speed of the blade. Always set to the slowest. Found the big brother saw that has the Liquid Lubricant Tank. Cheap. Like them both. Also have an old 14" craftsman band saw for aluminum work. Enjoy the work you do. We are both in the same mind set. Find a way to Get er Done.
I didn't have any extra when I put it together. The instructions were not clear on those. The tool plate is what had me when the diagram showed four sets of holes. The assembly diagram helped a lot getting through it.
@@bruceb6262 That was the only bad review I have seen on it, so your probably right, burn through stainless with a Craftsman blade at top speed I bet they get the same result.
Does your saw have a provision to allow less distance between where the band goes into open space and comes off open space. Some higher end band saws can shorten that space so there is less of a chance of blade deflection. Thanks for the tool test.
The four bearings are adjustable to get it to cut straight. This is a china Blueprint knockoff. Mine and my son's both have adjustable arms that hold the Bearing guides on either side of the clamp. Only thing now that is an issue is the angle tape is missing. A square sets the 90° and 45° angles. Eye ball the rest.
Could have got one of those off offer up broke bastard style for like a hundred bucks bro. Lol Good for you. I've been thinking about getting one of those too. Good video, keep it up and keep repin for all us broke bastards out there.
I’ve got this one also and I have been using it for a long time, I have ever used it to cutting wood 4x4 when my skilsaw stopped working just buy better quality blade .
Have you experienced excessive blade breakage? I have gone through 4 blades in a week on maybe 40 cuts. Blade is tight. Feed rate is lowered way down and I have the belt set at 80 for stainless. I’m cutting thin tubing but they keep breaking. Any insight would be appreciated.
These things really aren’t meant for vertical use, the speeds are too slow. It’s just for occasional use that way. At any rate, you need to make a better table if you’re going to use it vertically. Blondiehacks made a nice one. The HF and Grizzly are pretty much the same so the design transfers over. I find that both Grizzly and HF have screws left over, but, boy, that was a lot!
I bought one 4 years ago and just love it. One of the last tools i would part with.

I've had a version of this for a bunch of years . Takes a bit to adjust it after that its great . Buy better blades for it Morse makes good ones .

Upgrade to a higher quality blade and it cuts even better. 👍
Thanks Jerry.
I love mine, I use it for my pie cuts a lot. I honestly think it’s a great tool for the money.
I hope you build a taller and stronger base for this...but it really seems like a decent saw
Great review of this saw. Thanks!
Of all the mod's I've seen on this saw the most common was to get a better blade, I will have one o these saws soon.
the stock blades actually work great when you use a new blade cut a little let it cool do that a few times it tempers the blade last a lot longer.

Nice I just bought one myself the was is good and cuts square but the blade sure did suck
This is perfect
Sweet!👏👏👍👍

Try’s tightening the spring so it lowers slower.
Do it the old Navy way.
Hit it with a bigger hammer.
If that doesn't work...hit it again!
When I put mine together the legs caved in and the saw fell on the floor and the motor broke
hey quick question, when you do the linseed oil combination to preserve the rust/patina, how often do you need to do that?
John when it starts to look dry. In Arizona it’s about every 4 to 6 months
Will it cut 4x4 square tube at 45 degree angle?
I believe so. I know it cuts it straight.
@@BrokeBastardGarage Thanks a lot! I hear that it doesn't cut all the way through and stops the cut when it's at a 45
