Late to the party. Great vid. I have a 2013 genesis sedan and my old pads have three shims but the new pads only have one shim. I can take off the old shims but only one fits on the new pad. The other shim won’t grab the pad because of the new shim. Do I need the old shims at all or is the one that came with the new pad ok.
@@immortaleaguewallace8727 haven't tried it yet. It's my only vehicle and I can't risk breaking the bolts, so I'm putting it off. I'll have to wait until the rotors need changed.
Use a Bar tool with a 1/2 Rachet or 1/4 inch rachet with a Short 17mm socket, HAve the car high up if you don’t have a Lyft for more leverage and attach a long HOLLOW but THICK ENOUGH tube inside the rachet for more torque… some WD40 or heating up the bolt with a torch really helps as well!
great Video! so guess same procedure for a 2018 Genesis G80? does the electric brakes need to be freed before the brakes can be removed? I've seen this on Audi's and thought I would ask before I take on this project.
We have a 2016 genesis sedan. We are having a problem with the rotor’s warping. No one can figure out what’s cause it. The car has 43,000 miles. We have put on up graded Bosch rotors three times. All in the last 20,000 miles. New pads twice. This problem only on the front two wheels. Any ideals on what to do next. Thanks
*Maybe 2 out of the 4 pistons per caliper might not be disengaging, for example top bottom left and bottom right. Causing the rotors to warp and pads to wear out*
I never put those 3 screws back on. They are put on to hold rotor on when car is on assembly line being put together. They serve no purpose to me at least to reinstall them as they are a p.i.t.a to get out.
There’s an axle nut that that has to be removed to take off the rotor! It’s dead center and he didn’t explain it because there wasn’t one on the car he’s fixing

I just bought that compression tool you recommended... Thanks for the tip!
Great video, the tool used to compress the pistons, excellent and thank you!
Very nice clear explanation. Like the video close ups.
Just found your vid. Great camera work and instruction. You got my sub! Thanks

Did you post the torque specs?
How hard were your caliper bolts to remove? I couldn't get the bolts free with 150 lbs of torque and don't want to risk breaking the bolts.
Any luck im having same issue

I’m sorry, when I said “bar tool” I meant the hollow tube for more torque I explained *after*
How much brake fluid did you use to flush? Did you use DOT 4 Hyundai fluid or any compatible DOT 3/4 from the local auto parts store?
Do you happen to have some info on doing the back brakes?
Great video, Thanks for an excellent video!

I do not know, but usually the front brakes don't require any electric work. Usually only the rear brakes
Thank you you guys are awesome!
You can leave it in neutral for the rears. The electric parking brake didn't engage when I did that. Just changed my rears last week.
@@MrGieschen wow didnt know that, guess just block the front wheels! thank you for the reply
@johnsdla I should caveat is worked for mine. Your mileage may vary so to speak, but that's what I did, just chocked the front.
Excellent - thank you
Thank you
Thank you for this info. 🚀

No sorry man I don't. I don't wanna say try different braking styles because that's kinda a cop out. Have you tried only OEM pads and rotors?
Thus warping the rotors and eating at the pads quicker than usual

What's the name of the tool
Video made me stop
Thanks

Thanks.
Do you bleed the brake line?
I did not but you can if you want to
I have a different sort of piston pusher tool… never really worked on a genesis, got a client coming over tomorrow, Im a mobile mechanic
Do I really need to purchase the double piston pusher tool ?
I always push the pistons back with my tool one by one but generally I tend to work on break calipers with only 2 pistons instead of 4
Found this video just to have a general idea
Torque specs?
Just 3 screws holding the rotor on? I thought there was a center nut you have to take off on the rotor.

@@gymshoe23OMG! Thank you! I was over here loosing my mind trying to figure out why the rotor wouldn’t come off.
What is that tool called?
Dual piston brake tool
@@GEARMOAUTO The one you have is actually the Quad Pistol brake tool (all 4 at once) Dual is if you only need 2 in at once.
No grease for squealing
Damn dude quit talking just say how to change them shiiit
