Wow. I got all of that in 10 minutes? Fantastic review and career recap of the great Alice Coltrane. This record is phenomenal! Though it only contains four tracks they are all exceptionally beautiful. My personal favorite is track 2.
So great to have you back online, Alan. A month rarely goes by without spinning "Ptah" or one of its adjacent Impulse titles, putting it close to the very top of my all-time favourite recordings.
Love your review actually had this record since it came out the great thing is that I was always a impulse guy so I was buying that stuff all along but what was especially great for me was it I always collected Joe Henderson records that's one of the very rare appearances of Joe Henderson on an Impulse label and I do have every Joe Henderson that's available today of course most of it now is on CD but I do have quite a few hundred of releases with Joe Henderson actually saw a pharaoh Sanders quite a few times here in Philly back in the day actually saw him with John Coltrane keep up the good work
You're right: I'd never thought of that but he really doesn't feature at all other than this does he. I assume you have his other record with Alice, Elements?
@@TenMinuteRecordReviews yes of course I have almost everything that's been released by Joe Anderson and quite a few to have never been released in this country quite a few Imports I was just a big Joe Henderson fan from the beginning actually from what I was sitting in a steak shop here in Philly and all the Jukebox we had the owner put Horace silver song for my father 45 RPM and we played it to death and guess that was 1965
Another great review, Alan. Well done. I didn't think Alice Coltrane's records was something for me (to experimental, "out there" avant-garde...). But with a 5/5 rating, I had to stream it - and it's actually very good in my ears also, so I've ordered it (the new 2022 release) 🙂
Got the Verve by request recently (was bowled over when hearing Turiya on a Jazzman Records Spiritual Jazz compilation LP a couple of years ago). Thank you for the interesting insights :).
Yes I’d forgotten about that recent Verve release, a better bet than the grey market one I mentioned. Thanks for the reminder and glad you enjoyed the video.
Hey, Alan! Great video, as usual. Unfortunately you have misidentified a photo of Trane with Nellie Monk as being with his wife Naima. Keep up the great work otherwise!
@@michaelmclaurin36 thanks - I had always thought that was Naima but had never verified and glad to be set straight. I’ll add a corrective note in due course.

Thank you, one of my favourites too and a real pleasure to do.
For me too: it's five out out five stars. Definitely.

As it is mine. Forever grateful to have been able to add this one, ending a six year search.

Superb review Alan, i discovered the cd some months ago, many thanks and seasons greetings to you and family.
Thank you, and to you as well Mark!
Great reissue now available at Acoustic Sounds. I guess I better order it.

Good call on both counts! Once she starts adding the strings, I struggle with some of it. But the first four or five Impulses are excellent.

No worries, man. Just a heads up. Love the channel. Thanks for all your hard work! 👍🏽
one has to listen to the music, less hear this needless discourse.
Glad you enjoyed the video.
