Bikepacking the Arizona Trail // Leaving Time Behind

- Without an agenda, time becomes irrelevant. When it comes to bikepacking, this is the perfect mindset to have. Void of all expectations and obligations, Jackie Paaso and Stan Jorgensen set off on a three-day, 90-mile mission on the Arizona Trail, embracing the moment and abiding only by the rhythm of mother nature.

That. Was. Amazing.
In every way.
Awesome photography, nicely scripted voiceovers, great selection of music. WANT MORE!
Thank you 🙏
Props to the third wheel camera man.
Very good cinematography you have here.👍🏻 Very beautiful 👍🏻😊
A great movie, hats of for the cameraman to. Very inspirational.
This was really short and beautiful. Loved it!
Definitely majestic. Thanks for sharing. blue skies, Jg
Thanks for Watching John!
Enjoyed this a lot. Makes me consider the Arizona trail for bikepacking myself.
What an amazing adventure. Camera work and editing was top notch. Thank God that rock didn't smash into the lens at 5:44... that scared my inner filmmaker for a moment
Great video and such a beautiful landscapes
Love these types of videos. Ready for my next adventure
Love it! Can't wait to do my first overnight trail ride!
Outstanding photography! My neck of the woods.
Mine too. Go Jacks!
Can’t wait to find myself again out there on the trail!
I love this so much, so inspiring!!!
What a wonderful journey!
Nice ! I haven’t done bicycle trips like this yet only motorcycle trips with my wife. You are correct that time just stops and you never want it to be over. Someday maybe we will try a bicycle version ! Thanks for the vid and the edit was awesome well done.
Life on two wheels!
Freehub with another banger! The magazine the videos, always amazing content.
🙏Thank you!
awesome movie 👍
Such an awesome video!
Great video. I’m fixing to do my first trip this year.
Inspiring! Thanks for the story.
Thanks for watching!
Recreation in YT - these landscapes ... a dream!
Looks awesome. Recently did some helibiking in Africa. And that was just amazing, while we didn't get to experience the different regions like you did, we got to experience areas where nobody has ridden before. We were stuck to cattle and wild tracks left by buck and had to either ride that or find out own way. Was insane and ended up in a lot of broken chains or tyres. But I would do it again.
Spent a week around Flagstaff back in October, beautiful area, nice little downtown.
How were yall able to fit all your gear on the fullies? Do you have a packing list you could share? I love bikepacking but it always ends up being pretty uncomfortable on my rigid bike
First time to Arizona, didn't know what to expect? Flats! The Goathead is nature's perfect tire puncturing implement and they grow by the billions in the Southwest. I use belted tires, Slime tubes and Mr. Tuffys and rarely get flats.
I just use Stans. Lolol
Tubeless is a must in arizona
Would love to find out what route this was, I'd love to do a long weekend on this.
good job guys!
Looks fun. Thinking about doing this in the fall. What’s that straight shot from Mormon Lake to what looks like Schnebly Hill?
epic! hanks for good video.
very nice video. I'd like to visit Arizona for cycling so this helped me see what I might encounter.
Great video!!
That's some amazing looking trails and great cinematography. Got one question though, what is that thing you're trying to blow up @5:19 ?? Can't believe anyone would be running tubes in this day and age, especially when you know you'll be encountering sharp rocks and cactus.
Great movie! What kind of bag she has on the frame. I have a contessa spark bike and I wonder what kind of bag fits this frame shape
Topeak bags were used for this trip
So. much. stoke. I l love this, thanks guys!!!
Do you have a gps map we could follow? Were you able to get all water from stores or did you have to find water and filter it?
Hey awesome movie! Quick question: how much of this route could be done on gravel bikes?
"When you come back to civilization, you leave a little bit of yourself on the trail."
This says Arizona Trail but has Sedona in it... Is this the new AZT1000? I think it reroutes through Sedona now and along the 101 instead of the 87 through the Mazatzals. I think this solidified that SoBo is the way to go for me. Bombing down Snowbowl up in Flagstaff at 9,000ft and then getting to Sedona and getting to bomb that? Yes please. I like techy climbing but I like descending more ;P Great video and photography!
The actual AZT doesnt have Sedona but I think Shillingsworth or John added the BCT and Sedona to the AZ1000 route
Im trying to do this with someone, I live near flagstaff and want to ride to tome az, using the azt beforre the 23rd of this month
Do it!!!! you wont be disappointed. Hope you have a great ride!
do you really left the bike outside without lock them up? by the way, very great video!!
Wow this is amazing! I would love to do this, any advice on how to prepare for a trip like this?
The good folks over at Bikepacking.com have a great page on the basics of bikepacking...check it out here bikepacking.com/bikepacking-101/
Freehub Magazine Awesome thanks!
How did you do the cinematography?! Third rider? It's beautiful!
There was a dedicated Videographer on the shoot.
Lovely video... but bikepacking in Arizona with tubes? Why???
Misleading title. "90-mile mission on the Arizona Trail"
The AZT does not go through Sedona or Cottonwood. The Flagstaff to Mormon lake section is in fact a small part of the AZT. Once they left Mormon lake and headed to Sedona, they were off the AZT. There's no straight line to Sedona from Mormon lake either (as indicated on their map at 0:43) . It was shot and edited extremely well, but why mislead people?
Would be cool to follow y’all with my drone. I love finding bikers on trails.
Simply can't beat the Sedona area! (OK, maybe Moab...)
Dig the video Freehub! Y’all have been putting out some great content. Who made the film?
We produced the film, Spencer Johnson filmed and edited it.
when was this filmed?
October 2019
Why did you not go tubeless? Stans is a must in AZ
Атлишна 👍
It’s a Scott advertorial.
All of these types of vignettes are sponsored, otherwise they wouldn't get made. It is the business of Mountain Bike. They did a great job.
Totally not sponsored by Scott bikes.
Surprise ending ... bikes were stolen out front while having lunch. Am I the only one that noticed no eye contact or greeting from colt bar staff ...
Not the AZT guys🤔
Which trail network are they on then?
Spotted your little luxury... freshly ground coffee. Why do all ultra-light campers have their one little luxury? Mine's a pipe, pre-ground coffee doesn't count.
Gotta start the morning right!
Surely you didn't just leave your bikes outside the pub...
Fairly low risk place, all the city buildings are next door, usually a cop or two around. Small town.
This is larping. Too slick and overproduced and blatant product advertising everywhere.
Two nice bikes stolen leaving it out like that
Took me a second to realize that it was an advertisement. Seemed very fake(re-enactment) and scripted
don't put your nasty helmets on the tables or bar top!
The girl speaks like her mouth is wired shut.
