Welcome back, TA! So good to see your successful return to UA-cam. I’ve been considering getting Aura Ring for my family and I since you first covered it. Makes a great Christmas gift in 2020 (I knew something good would come out of this year :)). Thanks!
Glad you’re back! Looking forward to the Amazon Halo review!
Good to see ya back brotha! Been peeking at this ring for a minute. I’m glad you posted this review....still deciding. Thanks!
Yeah! I actually wear it as my wedding band now, lol. And it’s good to be back!
Welcome back! You've been missed! Glad to hear you're feeling better!
Thanks Shawn! I’m honestly still not feeling 100% but I’m well enough to dive back into reviews. Good to see you still on here!
This was a fantastic review, thank you!
Good to see you back
Thanks!
Welcome back, man. You upgraded your mic to the SM7B and it sounds great.
Thanks! I’m actually experimenting with several different microphones but I definitely think that the SM7b is going to my go to: it’s a great broadcast microphone and I also love how it sounds when I mic up my guitars.
I love my Oura ring too! So much more comfortable than smart watches/bands. Plus it tackles a more holistic and wellness approach compared to other smart devices, which is better for activity. The cycle tracking and battery life is super awesome! And another interesting thing is it detects illness before you feel anything. Also, it was very accurate when it comes on tracking my sleep. You can actually protect its beauty without sacrificing biometrics and comfort with an OSleeve.
Have you compared the data vs Garmin...would love to see how body battery/stress/sleep compare to their data
Great video as usual. Just a quick question. When being connected to apple health, can you select which data to you want to sync? I.e. how do you make sure that data is not messed up due to double counting from both devices? Thank you
I have an Apple Watch but, this seems like a great add-on. my sleep has been horrible, and my doctor now has said my cholesterol was up and I need to now take pills...I love the deep dive on this ring & its app.
Have a read of Matthew Walkers book en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Why_We_Sleep:_Unlocking_the_Power_of_Sleep_and_Dreams.
It’ll change your whole knowledge of sleep
amazing video. Which fitness tracker or chest strap you would combine it with since its not a great fitness tracker?
Do you know if the Oura Ring reports the same "kind" of HRV score? iOS (Apple Watch) gives the SDNN HRV metric..."standard deviation of HRV over short time intervals."
Nice vid man!
Thank you!
question...I was watching some other reviews or the ring and it says the ring isn't good for fitness..maybe I missed it in ur review..can you give me your thoughts on the fitness part..I interested in getting on soon.
Nice job Eric! I have my eye out on a couple of new products. I’m leaning towards getting the Apple Watch 6, even though I don’t even have an iPhone. I did just get the Polar OH1+, which I really like, and find the Polar metrics pretty useful. I haven’t seen a Polar Watch I like yet, and I’m still using my Garmin VA3.
Thanks John! Good to see you are still subscribed, LOL
Techy Agent Of course. Look forward to more content!
Happy to hear you're coming back! Already watched your video with your wife :) As I don't watch "drama channels" when I saw it's the two of you, I was thinking it's either she'll be more on the channel or you're having another kiddo ;)
I was waiting for your review of this ring. Honestly, I'm not that active (especially currently) but I'm trying to keep track of my health in general. 300$ is not cheap which is why I was waiting for your review. I'm not sure I want it - YET. But I'm more on the "yep, get it" than "naaaa" :) I think generally speaking it's better to be more in tuned with our bodies, on all aspects, and this is something we can't do by simply being "more aware".
When I first heard about it I was wondering if I can use it "instead" of my watch (when not working out). But as I understand I won't get the basic metrics (like steps / distance)? What do you think?
You will still get basic metrics like steps and distance and calories. You just won’t get metrics for active exercise, things like the number of calories burned during a run. Of the distance ran during that run.
But I wouldn’t use the Oura ring as my only fitness tracker. I’d first get a wrist-based tracker before getting the Oura ring.
@@TechyAgent I have a garmin watch. Will it sync with the Connect app? I was thinking putting on the watch (just) while exercising and the ring the rest of the day.
I don’t believe that the ring will sync with the connect app. From what I know, it only shares the data to specific third-party applications, mostly the health applications from Apple and the health applications from android. But third-party applications for other third-party devices like Garmin or Fitbit won’t share/sync with the Oura ring.
Hi Eric. Long time no talk. I am considering this now as I’m not getting the sleep metrics I want from my Apple Watch. If I do something like play tennis and take off the ring for that activity, will the Apple Watch then send that data to the Oura ring when they sync? Are you still recommending this? Thanks!
Yes, you can both export the data from the ring to the Apple health app, and you can also import the data from the health app into Oura. So it does a good job sharing the data. I still highly recommend it, it’s the only other product besides the Apple Watch that I wear daily.
@@TechyAgent Excellent. Thanks for the feedback!
Sounds great...think I’ll get it for my lady and me...
As of now I’m using the Apple Watch and the Fenix 6 Saphire so cost vise it’s ok 👌😎
If you're in between sizes, say 9.5, would it be better to size up to 10 or down to 9? How tight should it be to get the best reading? How does it compare to the Motiv ring, app and accuracy-wise?
Great question! So I’m actually a 9.5 and I had to order the 10 and I haven’t had any issues. The ring is a little bit loose, but it still seems to do a great job getting all of the readings.
I don’t have any experience with the Motiv, But in terms of accuracy I like it significantly better than the but in terms of accuracy I like it significantly better than the Whoop strap (which offers similar metrics). Additionally, there are a couple of German engineer minded guys that have extensively studied all of the peer reviewed data and articles that detail fitness trackers. They have some compelling insights and are very firm in their opinion that the Oura ring offers the best and most accurate data when it comes to recovery metrics. I’ve had the chance to pick their brains and ask them questions, and I agree with their conclusions.
I know there are different "kinds" of HRV scores. Does the Apple Watch and Aura report the same kind? IOS (Apple Watch) uses the SDNN HRV score...standard deviation of heart rate variability over short time intervals.
That’s a good question, but I honestly don’t know what kind of score each device is using. But now I’m curious.
Techy Agent Agreed. If someone is getting HRV data from both devices, it would be helpful to know if the values are coming from the same algorithm. If the algorithms are different, the trends in HRV will still be revealed by both devices, which is valuable. But, it would be nicer if the user would be able to compare Apples to Apples. Hm...I mean Apples to Ouras. 🤣
thnx!!
Is this the heritage or balance ring?
This is the balance version, I opted for this version because it was $100 cheaper than the heritage
What about battery life ?
I forgot to put that in there I think, sorry. It gets about five days battery life pretty consistently, sometimes a little bit more.
Nice hair
Looks like Oura rings have serious battery issues. My ring stop holding the charge and became useless just after the warranty expires. If you are not willing to buy a new ring (almost 400$) every two years, think before buying one.
What have you done t the real TECHY AGENT.
Haha!
