Question of the Day: What are some things you did last weekend and what were some things that you made? Practice using do and make collocations in your response 😉.
Yes good evening, it's ok and with you madam it's how it's going no, it's nice no, excuse me, they have our at the bar and the French and I can explain two or three times, they returned to me again thank you it's me. I don't know I want to ask myself my journey in Italy please what's going on there like that I crossed the border.
Hi Abdul 😁. Thanks for sharing your do and make sentences 👍🏻. I've made a few corrections to them as follows: "I made an appointment with my family doctor. I did my housework. I did shopping after I made a list. I went hiking with my family." Usually in English if there is a sport gerund like swimming, skating, hiking, skiing, etc, we use go + gerund. It is also possible to use 'do', but then you need to add the word 'some' in front of gerund: I went hiking or I did some hiking. I do some jogging every morning or I go jogging every morning. I hope that helps 🤗.
Hi Tatiana ☺️. Thanks for watching and for your question. To be honest, I am not entirely sure why we say, "make the bed". It's just the collocation that has been used for centuries. It probably has to do with the dictionary meaning of 'make' being 'to prepare something and get it ready for use' as when you make the bed, you are preparing the sheets and getting it ready to sleep in. I hope that helps 🤗.
Depending on the situation "Shake it off" could have several different meanings. The two most common usages of 'shake it off' are to recover from an illness or deal with / get over negative emotions. Examples: She was feeling sick, but after resting in bed for a few days she was able to shake it off. He's still heartbroken over the end of his relationship and just can't seem to shake it off. I hope that helps 🤗.
Hello Rafiq 🌸. Thanks for your response. However, do and made are verbs and should only be used before nouns, like "I did the dishes", "I made money", etc. Hang and spend are also verbs, so you can't join the two verbs together (unless you turn them into infinitives or gerunds.) So the correct sentences should be, "I hung out" and "I spent my money." I hope that helps 🤗.
Hello miss Yesterday at my work place I was making some make-shift arrangements to get the process going but my senior said that it would not do I need to do something different. day before yesterday I was thinking to do away with out grown branches of the tree in front of my house. it had grown to the point of inconvenience. and you know what the gusty wind made my work a lot easier. they were swaying violently in the wind and finally broke off. these are hypothetical sentences not the real situation. it would be more encouraging for me when you make corrections in my sentences so do it if found any mistake. thanks
