We went to this lake alot when i was bass fishing. It is known for large mouth bass and crappie fishing. It's nice there when everyone there is there just to fish and dont have to put up with jet skies and skiers or drag boats. Plus right now in april ,it:s spawning time for bass. So great fishing. Thanks Russ
Wild burros usually go strolling through the campsites during the night. You can get cell coverage at campsite C and D, but not at Range station Store or Campsite A and B. Some coverage on lake in certain areas.
Since I wasn't sure where this was, I looked it up on Wikipedia. The primary purpose of the dam is flood control. Recreation is a secondary purpose. Where you say that the lake is "low", that is actually the "normal" level, the remainder being reserved for flood waters. Wikipedia states that the lake, in a flooding event, rose eleven feet over one night! Would have LOVED to have been there for that!
Boy that is beautiful. Thank you Russ for taking us on another journey. It is absolutely gorgeous there. I also thought I would say, I am way past help, and way past HOPE....So funny, but we enjoyed.... It is in the 90s there, and we are chilly here, but soon we will be warmed up....Take care to you all...for goodness sake be careful. Walk with Justice, walk with Love and mercy, and walk with a Good spirit Russ as you do all the time. I wish you all Peace Russ...Everyone watching.....Take care from Carolyn from Canada...
I turned in & went to Wayside. And then went rock hunting for 3 days back up into Anderson Mine country 4 years ago. But never have made it to Alamo Lake. Thank You for the trip into Alamo Lake Russ. TAKE CARE..
so glad i banked this one and Hope, AZ for my after work viewing pleasure. I've gopt to fiure out how to stop doing "work" and get to "travelling and seeing cool stuff"
No Russ they don't stock the lake I got out of the military back in 1971 and with in a few years their was 6 +lbs bass cat fish blue gills as big as your hand . I can remember catching over 100 bass a day there . Their was more California fishermen there than Arizona fisherman Its my favorite lake in Arizona
Just by watching these videos of Russ's, I figure it'd take a whole year to see all of Arizona. In fact, you'd have to stay in each state of the American South West through all four seasons to see everything properly.
I spent a Week here with a Trapper back in the Eighties.......lots of Eagles at this Lake.......there is a Story that old Bill Williams used a Mans Leg Bone as a Cane......
Thank You for the video of Alamo Lake, enjoy!! Well, if you have a chance to be near water or in it, if staying in the desert area, that's a place to go, it seems. Keep on keeping on! Thanks for the videos you share with us. Sincerely, Shay's Ways
I visited in mid-80s, likely when the lake was at its minimum pool. Don't recall the RV aspect being developed, but that was many moons ago! That big alfalfa ranch "on the right" was the "edge of town" where I was treated to the biggest, tastiest most delicious steak dinner I've ever had. Courtesy of A Heck of a farming family! Great happy hour while mesquite burned down to coals AHead of dinner. JLG at the fire. Great memories along Centennial Wash and Buckeye-Salome Road.
Russ, I think you have the best RV videos on You Tube. Always informative and covers the info I want to see. They also give me a better idea of the road conditions on the places I want to visit.
I used to live in Wenden, AZ in 1978 and loved fishing at Alamo, I caught huge cats and bass! The lake level is so low now compared to 1978. Wow. Lake looks so small now.
We spent several years in that area and Alamo lake is on of our favorite area to camp. Many miles of trails to ride atv and utv. You should go wayside for a burger and brew.
As all the "rivers" that feed into Alamo Lake are dry most of the year, you can bet they stock it. Been enjoying your road trips. Live in Lake Havasu now but used to live in Quartzsite. Another good one.Thanks.

Was hoping to see overnight parking along the lake but hook-ups are far away just like parking in a dessert campground. Good place for boaters but you have to pull your boat a long distance to get there.
I stayed on the edge of the Lake there and it is beautiful! Went to take a shower at the State Park and got lost in the middle of no where for 4 hours and 59 miles as GPS failed! More to the story! Beware!
best way to learn how to launch a boat is go somewhere on the weekdays when nobody is around and practice it a few times. Last practice, you get to learn how to come back to the dock/rap and how all that works. But do it alone, so when you goof up, you learn instead of deal with irate others trying to do the same darn thing you are doing. Then you can master that skill and do it right and efficiently whne people (UGH!) show up.
14:53 - HEY! I have three dogs. Two only really bark at people (slightly protective/slightly overexcited) - The third is a vicious brute who will eat your marinated chicken and soul, and barks at anything near "dad" And, if you look to the left, you can see this 5 lb beast!
I'm from the UK and love watching these types of videos such beautiful landscapes

I lived in Wenden and fished at Alamo as kid in 1978, the lake was way bigger too and great fishing even as a lil kid! Best lake all around back then.
Always fun to sit by the boat launch and watch people try to back up

The scenery on that road really changes from one end to the other.

We almost camped there on our way out of quartzsite exit 17. Thanks we'll camp there next year.
You should really check out that Oasis Bar & Grill. They have a small dirt airstrip and several small planes fly in especially on weekends
Thanks for the great tour Russ

Alamo was on my list of spots to visit. Had a number of friends tell about it?
Very nice! I'm really enjoying your videos.
You should get an inflatable kayak.
As a teen in the mid 70s, my family went to Alamo. I don't think the lake had filled up yet.
Thx for the Scenic Tour. The 2 rivers that feed the Lake seemed to come out of nowhere
Went there about 40 years ago AND that was the last time! Hells water hole!
Awesome sauce Russ!

What's with the disappearing truck with boat at 3:00
Cell phone service at Alamo Lake SP is rough. Be prepared for it if you go there.
It’s a fishing lake primarily!
Donkeys everywhere there
Haven't been there this year rates seem a little bit high
Look at that ! , look at that , heh heh.
