I like that they flipped the whole “gotta stay in the light or you’ll die” to “you gotta stay in the shade or you’ll die”. Parallels are neat.
And it's probably important in the Sahara in general.

@42:32 I think the guys miss the point of this photo. It's showing how close Alex and Richard are, with the inscription mentioning how good they looked together. Basically pointing out that Alex is in a relationship with Richard, his assistant. The fade-in where Alex is scared is Richard affectionately trying to comfort and encourage him to keep going. Not so odd sounding if you put two and two together 😉
I don’t know if anybody has noticed, but the main character in this game says the exact same thing that Daniel says in the beginning of the first amnesia.

I noticed it, too. I haven't beaten the game yet but I suspect it is both a callback to the first game and an important part of the overall story. Amnesia, the medical condition, is an important part of the Amnesia games.

We have "Katzenzungen" ( Cat tongues ) in Germany - basically just milk chocolate that is SOMEHOW tongue-shaped.
in Chile we have "Lenguitas de Gato" also tongue-ish-shaped thin slices of milk chocolate :)

At 38:08, that poem, which is translated by Troy Garza in these comments, is part of an old German lullaby, called Der Mond ist Augegangen. We had to memorize and recite it for one of my German courses in High School or college. They all kinda blended together.

Yo, Scary Game squad! Art history nut here to say that the statue in the room where you guys were asking for a lantern is an ancient fertility statue. Very common in ancient art. Thought you guys would find that interesting. There is actually a lot of fertility symbolism if you look for it :))

@@mayakaskinen888 Yeh, it is fascinating! There are a lot of art history sites out there that are pretty easy to find. You can also go to the citations on Wikipedia if you want more academic sources. But seriously, almost all ancient civilizations have a similar fertility statue, of overdramatized features of the body. If it has big hips, tummy, thighs, and tiny everything else, you are probably looking at a fertility statue :)

And you forget - my friend. Amnesia is the MONEY TRAIN for youtube right now. Frictional games hasn't made an Amnesia game for 10 years - Machine for pigs was another developer. THIS developer and this franchise, a combination that hasn't been touched for 10 years, basically BIRTHED all of the youtube lets plays. It carried so many channels to greatness on it's back.
You need to be fucking FAST with this game, because you can be damn sure EVERYONE is going to be playing it. For sure.

I just wanna commend you guys for being friends all theses years and keeping this up!!! I’m sure you guys annoy one another or get on each other’s nerves but the loyalty is super respectable. Especially in the UA-cam community that’s become so cut throat.
Actually, Alex, standing in the bright desert heat is pretty much a slow, but noticeably quick burning process - 10 minutes without shade will make you have a heat stroke, quicker if it's particularly hot, and you'll need to drink tens of liters of water to make up for the low humidity and your own body's humidification if you spend a day in it. They obviously just sped that up for video game mechanic purposes, but unrealistic it is not!
To be honest, the google translation was surprisingly good. It's hard to translate poetry because the nuances are lost on the way but google gave you a solid interpretation of the meaning.
I'm calling it now. Tasi is a wendigo and she ate everyone, then in a fit of conscience drank all the laudanum to forget.

It feels like they do there best to always look straight down and miss so much xD when they're first standing on the graves going "what is that" cause they're not looking straight ahead at the crosses xD
That room with the goddess statue was a *safe room.* If you had looked at the door, you would have seen that there's a lock so you can lock yourself inside. There's also the same relatively calm music as a cue in every safe room.
I haven't been excited about this game at all (however I was obsessed with DD when it came out) but the squad banter is next level and I absolutely love it!
I'm loving this series so far, the world building is great and I'm diggin Tasi as a protagonist (though the usage of lost children, pregnancy and childbirth in indie horror is getting old). I've caught up with the videos, but I wanted to check a detail, and I was right - Tasi and Salim's wedding picture is different when she finds it in a cave vs the one she sees in her dream! 🤔

I'm really digging this. The writing, for the most part, is fantastic - Jonathan's last letter to his family.. holy crap.
But, then some conversations feel weird or like they are from the wrong time period.
For instance, at 58:47 the MC starts swearing, saying "fuck" quite a few times in a row, making it seem like something someone would say from today - not 1937, and especially coming from a French lady. It would have been nice to hear more periodic phrases that Parisians used!

Laudanum was also important in the first Amnesia game as well. It was what Daniel took to heal himself from monster attacks.

Plot twist, the enemy of the game is khorn and the eye of terror is opening.
The compass really reminds me of Wolfenstein(2009), looking forward to the rest of the play through.
