You guys are life savers !!! I dropped my phone at the gym and it immediately went into SOS mode for 2 days straight despite me restarting it over and over . Just removed and inspected my SIM card , and my LTE coverage came back !!

What worked for me was the configuration profile settings- removal of profile. I have tried everything up until the 8th solution and it worked!!!. Thank you again!

Even though my phone automatically does updates, I forced my phone to update regardless and this fixed it for me if anyone is still having issues after all this

I have iPhone 12pro and it’s updated I been facing this issue for couple weeks the SOS pop up and no service at all I called Verizon they said it’s time buy a new phone how I can fix this issue?
My SOS only/no sim issue started after I finally updated the software on my iphone to iOS 17.3 - boooo. No "tricks" in this video worked for me including resetting network settings. I ended up calling my carrier and they had me take out my sim card and installed an e-sim which has finally done the trick. thank you guys for the guidance :)
do all carriers have esim options? i can’t even call 611 😭😭😭 i reset factory settings and it started on the Welcome screen in SOS 😭😭😭 i just whipped out the pc to restore with itunes and i’m charging an old device now to see if my sim works to decipher if it’s my device or my sim card 😭😭😭 but my phone is detecting my carrier name which disappears when i take the sim card out so it seems like my sim is working.. i guess we’ll see when this old phone turns on 😭😭😭
i tried all the basics.. reset network settings, toggled airplane mode, hard reset about a million times, factory reset, drove across town (because i needed to i’m not that crazy lol) and hard reset from about every corner of my town.. no cellular updates, can’t manually select my cellular connection, ios is up to date.. now i’m just crying

Just want to say a big thanks. Ejection of the SIM card and putting it back in with a reboot of the phone worked and got it out of SOS mode. My wife was about to start pulling her hair out. Crisis averted.

I've got an issue that is apparently an issue for a lot of people online. Sometimes, when I receive a phone call, the phone button stays green and won't turn to red. This keeps me from hanging up the phone after the call ends. Mine is Iphone 12, IOS 16.4.1. Found a lot of complaints online but no solutions.

SOS MODE is a buggy feature that Apple either needs to fix or allow us to disable. If you are on TMobile and none of these fixes work for you go into Cellular Settings, turn off roaming, turn off auto select cellular network then select T-Mobile network as default, if you have a weak cellular connection turn off 5G auto and select LTE only, finally in wifi settings make sure wifi calling is ON then scroll all the way to the bottom of screen and turn Off WIFI Assist. Took me some time but this fixed the issue for me, because Apple SOS Mode interferes with auto switching to wifi calling on the T-Mobile network. This is not a great solution but the only one that works for now.
I agree, Apple does need to fix this SOS mode bug, I have this gut feeling its by design. I feel like a grandma or a Karen but I can’t figure out how to make it stop and it’s rly screwing up my life this week lol 🙄🤬

Seriously though, I just got my first iPhone after using only Androids for 13 years, and my brand new 14 pro is stuck in SOS mode. Even from the first boot. And unfortunately I can't use your tip because my settings are completely different. I can't even enable wi-fi calling because the phone has never activated since it has been in SOS mode since the first boot. Also, I'm on Verizon.
So tonight I found out we were able to see the northern lights from where I live (Pittsburgh-ish PA) and I was outside getting pictures when I dropped my phone and it said SOS. Well I couldn’t send my family the pictures or FaceTime and was bummed out because you could really only see it through your camera anyways, so I was getting a good view for my parents who aren’t around me right now. Thank you SO MUCH FOR HELPING THESE VIDEOS NEVER SOLVE MY ISSUES!! Haha I just had to toggle airplane mode. God I love you guys
Thank you so much for the useful suggestions. Prior to watching your video I kept only finding videos where third-party software companies were trying to say that the only way to solve it was to use their random software which made me very nervous. Turning my data roaming on helped solve the issue.
Thank you so much, I got the "No Sim Card" error and it was stuck on SOS even after I restarted my Iphone. Thankfully the Airplane Mode method fixed my issue, crossing my fingers and hoping this doesn't happen again.

iPhone 12, SOS never comes on when roaming, however it comes on when I manually cut the grass banks with the phone in my pocket listening to music. It has to be related to an over-heat issue. I live in a very remote area and when I travel etc. the iPhone is always losing connection with my carrier, it NEVER goes into SOS, only when it is obviously in a heat related environment.

I never knew this was an issue with iPhones. What a disaster these things are. I just bought my first iPhone after 13 years of only using Android, and my brand spanking new 14 pro is stuck in SOS mode. I've tried every fix you guys mentioned and nothing works. I've even tried them multiple times. I ended up contacting Verizon and they told me to wait 24 hours and it should work, but I have my doubts. In all my years with Android, though I had my share of issues with them, I never had a problem with them connecting to the network. This is stupid and makes me hate Apple even more than I already did. This is stupid and shouldn't even be a thing. I can see a bug like this existing at a time and being fixed, but evidently this has been an issue on iPhones for years. Crazy.
Same for me. Just switched from my galaxy s20 to 14pro max now I have this issue and none of this works. I woke up this AM and my phone was just in SOS mode. I don’t know what to do. I tried my partners SIM in my phone. Same thing. My SIM in her phone works fine so I know it’s the phone and not my carrier.
It's crazy. For me personally, it ended up being fixed by Verizon. For some reason, they were blocking the phone from activating, and I had to get on the phone with tech support for them to fix it. The crazy thing is that when I got the 14pro, I also got 3 Android devices at the same time, and they all activated without issue.@@tasakajonsr4337

I got stuck in SOS blown way up big so that I couldn’t swipe anything or reboot etc. In the third store I went to and nobody could fix it, I asked a kid walking around he just tapped my iphone13max with 3 fingers and it went back to normal. Love the young smartie pants kids
I get the SOS a lot in my are and it has to do with power outages with trees breaking the power lines. It will usually go away in about 10 minutes when the cell tower batteries are generators kick in. However sometimes that may only last an hour are two. We sometimes have really long outages.
Spoiler Alert: Verizon/T-Mobile sucks. A while back ago, I had an iPhone 4 from Verizon. Both providers told us to remove the sim tray from the Verizon iPhone 4. If you didn't know, their isn't no sim slot on the iPhone 4 from Verizon.

Listen, I toggled airplane mode 20 times in a row, then left it on airplane mode for like 10 seconds, then turned it off, and now it works!!!! 🎉

If you click on the gear icon on the video you can play the video at .5 speed or .75 speed. Helps when people talk way too fast lol

Yes, I upgraded IOS to 17.3.1, then SOS still came back on, but then turning Airplane On/Off afterwards did the trick!

I got stuck in SOS blown way up big so that I couldn’t swipe anything or reboot etc. In the third store I went to and nobody could fix it, I asked a kid walking around he just tapped my iphone13max with 3 fingers and it went back to normal. Love the young smartie pants kids

I turned on and off my airplane mode and that worked for me thank you guys
I get the SOS a lot in my are and it has to do with power outages with trees breaking the power lines. It will usually go away in about 10 minutes when the cell tower batteries are generators kick in. However sometimes that may only last an hour are two. We sometimes have really long outages.

Spoiler Alert: Verizon/T-Mobile sucks. A while back ago, I had an iPhone 4 from Verizon. Both providers told us to remove the sim tray from the Verizon iPhone 4. If you didn't know, their isn't no sim slot on the iPhone 4 from Verizon.
