First, he's a potential opponent in the foreseeable future so he doesn't wanna let him try his arm and know his specific style of pulling him. Second, he has not peaked on his left arm yet so it doesn't make sense to go straight into it and (third) give everything in a practice pull that could potentially get him injured when his supermatch against Oleg is right around the corner. It was a smart move from Devon. It's not always about the show, you need to pick battles worth fighting. Devon knows that.
